Osama taught sons to survive in extreme hardship

New Delhi, June 30: Former al Qaida chief Osama bin Laden shared a very complex relationship with his children and taught his sons to survive in extreme terrain, perhaps preparing them early on for a life on the run.

According to American writer Jean Sasson who interviewed Laden’s first wife Najwa and her son Omar for a biography, although “Osama deeply loved his children, yet his ideas of making his children (particularly his sons) tough, was a true hardship for the boys.”

EAMCET ranks to be announced on July 1

Hyderabad, June 30: Chairman EAMCET, D N Reddy said that deputy chief minister Damodar Raj Narsimha will release final ranks of EAMCET on July 1 at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University campus.

Talking to the press reporters here Prof. D N Reddy told that after the receipt of advanced supplementary results from the Board of Intermediate Education, the EAMCET ranks will be announced on July 1.

He informed that 25 percent weightage will be given for intermediate marks.

Hackers disrupt al Qaeda’s online networking

New York, June 30: Computer hackers have disrupted al Qaeda’s ability to communicate via internet by interrupting the flow of videos and messages of the outfit, an anti-terror expert said. The attack was reportedly carried out by unknown hackers in the past few days.

“Al Qaeda’s online communications have been temporarily crippled, and it does not have a single trusted distribution channel available on the Internet,” Evan Kohlmann of Flashpoint Global Partners, which monitors the outfit’s communication, was quoted as saying by the NBC News.

Magnitude 5.4 quake hits Japan, 7 injured

Tokyo, June 30: An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted Nagano Prefecture and its vicinity in central Japan on Thursday morning, leaving at least seven people injured, the Japan Meteorological Agency and local media said.

The 8:16 a.m. quake, measured upper 5 on the Japanese seismic scale of 7 in Matsumoto in the prefecture, injured seven people in their 40s to 70s, according to Kyodo News, quoting firefighters in Matsumoto.

No tsunami warning was issued after the quake.

Govt. approves construction of four new ports

Hyderabad, June 30: State government has approved construction of 4 new ports in the state. The 4 new ports would come up at Bhimili in Visakhapatnam, Bhavanapadu and Kalingapatnam in Srikakulam and Narsapur in West Godavari district.

Since longer routes are available in the state, Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has set a target to earn a revenue of Rs. 700 to 1,000 crore every year.

Government is also drafting a new law for allotment of land for the construction of ports.

Telangana movement set to enter crucial phase

Hyderabad, June 30: After a four-month lull, the movement for statehood to the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh is set to enter a crucial phase with the major players, hopeful of achieving their goal, gearing up to pressurise the central government.

Two IPS officers grilled by CBI in Azad encounter case

Hyderabad, June 30:Two Andhra Pradesh cadre IPS officers were grilled for about eight hours by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) sleuths on Wednesday in connection with the alleged fake encounter killing of Maoist leader Cherukuri Rajkumar alias Azad and journalist Hemchandra Pandey in the jungles of Adilabad in July last.

Joint director CBI, Hyderabad Zone, V V Laxminarayana summoned Adilabad superintendent of police P Pramod Kumar and the then OSD Adilabad Sarvashresth Tripathi to the agency’s headquarter in Sultan Bazar.

Mother forces minor daugther for prostitution

Chandigarh, June 30: A woman has been arrested for forcing her 13-year-old daughter into prostitution. A beauty parlour owner, who was party to the whole act, has also been taken into police custody.

Washington, June 30: To destroy the Al Qaeda “evil”, the US needs to dismantle its core in the tribal regions of Pakistan and prevent its ability to re-establish a safe haven in the Pakistan-Afghanistan region, a senior US official has said.

Six Pak rangers charged in Sarfaraz Shah Murder

Islamabad, June 30: Pakistani court on Wednesday charged six members of a paramilitary force with murder for the killing of an unarmed man, in a rare move in the face of the country’s powerful security establishment in Karachi.

Security forces shot dead Sarfaraz Shah, 22, in Karachi, accusing him of theft, but his family has demanded justice, stressing that he called for innocent people pass the time of the day.

New Delhi, June 30: Bangladesh will allow billions of dollars of untaxed money to be invested in shares under a new tax amnesty designed to prop up the volatile Dhaka Stock Exchange, an official said on Wednesday.

Class 8th student raped by Uncle

Mumbai, June 30: A 13-year-old tribal girl from Virar was allegedly raped by her uncle with whom she had been staying for the last eight years after the death of her parents. The crime came to light after the girl attempted suicide last week.

The victim lost her parents when she was five. She and her younger brother moved in with their uncle, Sanjay Vaye (30), who was their mother’s first cousin.

London, June 30: Charles McQuillan wanted to be kept in the picture during his vital heart op. So the dad-of-two decided to capture the life-saving surgery on camera.

McQuillan, 41, filmed each stage of September 16, 2010 – from leaving home in Ballymena, Northern Ireland, to his operation at Belfast’s Royal Victoria Hospital before returning to his children.

He discussed the plan with the surgical team who gave their consent, and he visited the operation theatre to set up three cameras in advance.

US spend 4.4. trillion on war on terror

Washington, June 30: The US could end up spending nearly $4.4 trillion on the war on terror in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan, new research says.

Nearly 10 years after the declaration of a war on terror, the situation in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan have cost the US between $2.3 trillion to $2.7 trillion, according to the report by Brown University’s Watson Institute for International Studies.
