Hyderabad, June 30: Addressing ‘Huffaz karam’ at the annual dastarbandi function at Madarsa Riyazul Islam, the chief guest Maulana Salman Mansoorpuri instructed the community that the holy Quran is the message of Allah and the constitution and foundation of Muslim community and is a guidance for the whole humanity in every period hence the community should improve its condition in the light of the Quran.

Hafiz Peer Shabbir Ahmed MLC on the occasion said that Muslims should see the religious madarsas with reverence as they teach the lesson of peace and harmony.

Washington, June 30: The information seized from Osama bin Laden’s hideout in Pakistan has revealed that he was concerned about the al Qaeda’s long-term viability, the White House said on Wednesday.

“Information seized from that compound reveals bin Laden’s concerns about al Qaeda’s long-term viability,” John Brennan, assistant to the US President for Homeland Security and Counter-terrorism, said in his speech at the Paul H Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.

Food inflation falls to 7.78 pc from 9.19 pc

New Delhi, June : Food inflation fell to a one-and-a-half month low of 7.78 per cent for the week ended June 18 on the back of cheaper vegetables, pulses and potatoes.

Food inflation, as measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI), stood at 9.13 per cent during the previous week. It was over 20 per cent during the comparable period of June, 2010.

As per data released by the government on Thursday, vegetables became over 10 per cent cheaper year-on-year during the seven-day period under review.

In the first phase the government has appointed Mr. Hamid Ali as Indian Ambassador to Riyadh. He will replace Mr. Talmiz Ahmad who is retiring in September. In the second phase the government appointed Indian Ambassador to Oman, while appointment of ambassador in Qatar is likely in the next month.

40 kgs silver stolen

Hyderabad, June 30 (Siasat News): In a late night committed crime, 40 kgs silver stolen from General Bazar in Secunderabad. According to market police, the heist took place at the shop of Srinath Ji Jewellers.

The unidentified burglars entered the shop from the first floor of the building and decamped with 30 kgs silver and 10 kgs silver ornaments.

Not only this, they also took away Rs. 2 lacs in cash. Following a complaint by the owners of the shop, the police is busy investigating.

Lagadapati warns against change in free zone status of Hyderabad

Father pushed girl in prostitution held

Sharjah, June 30: The Sharjah Police have arrested six people, including a debt-ridden man, who allegedly forced his 13-year-old daughter into prostitution, for trafficking of a number of teenage girls to the UAE.

A top official at the Organised Crime Department of the CID of Sharjah Police said the six-member Pakistani gang included three brothers. The gang allegedly brought in a number of women from their country and locked them up in a residential apartment to force them into prostitution.

Dinesh Reddy is new DGP of Andhra Pradesh

Hyderabad, June 30: Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer V Dinesh Reddy has been appointed as Andhra Pradesh’s new Director General of police, the state government announced on Thursday.

The 1977-batch officer succeeds K Aravinda Rao, who retired on reaching superannuation.

Dinesh Reddy was selected for the top post after 1975-batch officer KR Nandan, who is the son-in-law of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, reportedly refused to accept the job while the government ignored four other officers senior to Dinesh Reddy for various reasons.

Gujarat riots records destroyed: Modi govt

Ahmedabad, June 30: In a startling revelation, the Gujarat government has admitted to the Nanavati Commission, probing the 2002 post-Godhra riots, that key records during the riots were destroyed five years later.

The revelation came during the cross-examination of senior police officer Sanjiv Bhatt today after which the state government’s counsel, SB Vakil, said that Mr Bhatt knew that these crucial documents were missing and is trying to capitalise on the fact by claiming that he was present at a key meeting with Chief Minister Narendra Modi on February 27, 2002.

Fatehabad, June 30: A drug addict allegedly sold off his minor daughter for Rs 50,000 in Pirthala village. Following a complaint made by her stepbrothers Jagroop and Ramswaroop Singh, Tohana police recovered the victim from Jind and handed the 16-year-old girl to them.

According to information, upon finding their step sister, who was accompanied by their father Deshraj, missing for almost a week, the brothers launched a search.

New Delhi, June 30: Activist Anna Hazare wanted to meet Sonia Gandhi on Thursday but he has been given an appointment for Saturday because the Congress President has prior commitments.

“No meeting is likely between Anna Hazare and Sonia Gandhi today. No appointment has been fixed for today,” sources at 10 Janpath said.

Hazare had on Wednesday said that he will try to persuade Gandhi to include the office of the Prime Minister in the Lokpal Bill.

Cheapest British house sells for 10,000 pounds only

London, June 30: A house in Britain with only four rooms has sold for a meagre price of 10,000 pounds.

The house with two rooms on the first floor and two on the ground floor was sold to a developer 5,000 pounds below the actual asking price.

The house is on Pritchard Street in Burnley, Lancashire, the Daily Express reported.

Real estate agent John Dinsdale said: “Three years ago you couldn’t get a house in Burnley for less than 35,000 pounds because everyone was buying property. Now it has gone the other way.”

Flash floods in Philippines kill 25; 15 missing

Manila, June 30: Flash floods triggered by torrential rains swept away dozens of houses in the southern Philippines and killed at least 25 people, mostly children, officials said Wednesday. At least 15 other people were missing.

About 20,000 families were affected by floodwaters when heavy rains swamped six villages in Davao city late Tuesday, overflowing rivers and triggering a deluge that reached 10 feet (3 meters) high in some places, said Liza Bago of the Davao City Social Services and Development Office.
