Journos protest delay in adopting wage board recommendations

Hyderabad, June 29: Hundreds of working journalists on Tuesday took part in a protest dharna against the inordinate delay in notifying the recommendations of Justice G R Majitha Wage Board, following a call given by Confederation of Newspapers and News Agency Employees Organizations (New Delhi).

The protest in Hyderabad was organized under the banner of IJU and APUWJ at the Basheer Bagh Press Club.

The representatives of various trade unions too had participated in dharna and expressed their solidarity with the scribes.

TRS demands memorial park, statues for Jayashankar

Hyderabad, June 29: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi on Tuesday demanded that the state government construct a ‘memorial park’, apart from a bronze statue on the Tank Bund as a mark of respect to Telangana ideologue Professor Kothapalli Jayashankar who passed away last week.

Briefing media persons on the TRS’s Executive Committee meeting, party general secretary Madhusudhana Chary told media persons that the resolution demanding the memorial park in the city and bronze statue for Prof Jayashankar were adopted unanimously.

Seemandhra team to stress on integration during Delhi trip: Sailajanath

Hyderabad, June 29: Seemandhra Forum convener and Minister for Primary Education S Sailajanath on Tuesday stated that he would take a delegation of Seemandhra leaders to New Delhi on July 5-6 to stress on the importance of Andhra Pradesh remaining integrated of state.

GHMC blinks, allows plastic bags up to 40 microns

Hyderabad, June 29: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, under pressure from the manufacturers and employees of plastic bags, on Tuesday cast aside its state noble intentions of cleansing the city environs, by agreeing to allow the production and sale of plastic carry up to 40 microns.

Addressing a packed media conference, GHMC Commissioner MT Krishna Babu, flanked by Mayor Banda Karthika Reddy and Deputy Mayor Jaffer Hussain, said that the manufacturing units would be able to produce and sell plastic bags up to 40 microns till a government notification is issued.

CM brief Governor about Trust affairs

Hyderabad, June 29: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan and briefed him over the latest political situation in the state.

According to Raj Bhavan sources, the Chief Minister briefed the Governor about the letter written by the government to the Trust secretary, seeking details related to its functioning and financial transactions after the police caught Rs 35 lakh being transported in a vehicle from Puttaparthy to Karnataka.

YSR Cong maiden plenary session from July 8: Gattu

Hyderabad, June 29: YSR Congress party official spokesman Gattu Ramachandra Rao on Tuesday stated that the two-day plenary session of party would be held at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district from July 8.

Talking to media persons at Sagar Society, he said that 15 delegates from each constituency in the state would attend the plenary and give their valuable suggestions.

No irregularities, no connection with seized cash: Sai Trust

Puttaparthi, June 29: Denying that there any financial irregularities have taken place by the members of the Sri Satya Sai Central Trust, a Trustee V Srinivasan on Tuesday said that the Trust has no connection with the Rs 35 lakh seized by the police near Kodikonda check post in Anantapur recently.

Lagadapati is ‘villain of Telangana’: Komatireddy

Hyderabad, June 29: Nalgonda MP Komatireddy Rajgopal Reddy on Tuesday described Vijayawada MP Lagadapati Rajagopal as `villain of Telangana’ for obstructing the formation of the separate state.

Revanna’s arrest throws Hassan into turmoil

Hassan, June 28: Tension prevailed in the outskirts of the city and in two villages of the taluk after JD(S) workers smashed wind shields of KSRTC buses and set tyres on fire to protest against the arrest of former Minister HD Revanna in Bangalore on Monday.
Angry workers gathered at the main road in Mosalehosahalli and Hangarahalli and shouted slogans against the state government. They blocked HassanMysore road putting stone barricades, dumping garbage and setting tyres on fire. Traffic between HassanMysore state highway was disrupted for an hour when the agitators sat on the road.

Petition filed against ACA Secretary

Vijaywada, June 28: A private petition was filed in ACB court here on Monday by Chittoor District Cricket Association president B Vijaykumar alleging that Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) secretary Gokaraju Gangaraju and eight other members committed several irregularities.
Advocates B Chandrasekhar and P Srinivas filed the petition in ACB court on behalf of Vijaykumar. In his petition, Vijayakumar alleged that funds to the tune of Rs 10 crore were misused by these ACA members.
