In order to resolve the complaints of extra luggage, this proposal is under consideration. Final decision will be taken on the occasion of national Haj conference scheduled to be held on 13th June.

Indians top phone users in Gulf

Dubai, June 06: Indians dominated incoming phone calls to the Gulf in 2010 while it was among three countries that accounted for more than half the outgoing international calls in 2010, official figures showed on Monday.

The figures by the UAE’s Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), which oversees the telecom sector in the second largest Arab economy, showed mobile phone users spent 21.6 billion minutes on calls and 3.2 billion minutes on mobile phone text messages (SMS) in 2010.

National Arabic Seminar postponed

Hyderabad, June 06: According to a statement issued by Dr. Syed Shujauddin Aziz, convener of the seminar, the two day national seminar scheduled to be held on 9th June has been postponed due to certain unavoidable circumstances.

New residency VISA for property owners

Dubai, June 06: Dubai plans to introduce a new residence visa system for property owners, reported ‘Al Bayan’ newspaper.

A government official was quoted as saying “authorities are discussing ways of granting owners of properties in the emirate, residence visas based on transparent rules and legislation”.

Aftershock rocks New Zealand’s Christchurch

Wellington, June 06: A shallow 5.0-magnitude aftershock rocked the quake-hit New Zealand city of Christchurch on Monday, shaking items off shelves but not generating any reports of serious damage, officials said.

New Zealand’s second largest city was devastated by a 6.3-magnitude earthquake in February which claimed 181 lives, and followed a stronger, but less destructive 7.0 quake last September.

The latest quake hit at 9:09 am (2109 Sunday GMT) and was centred 22 kilometres (14 miles) west of the city at a depth of just three kilometres, the US Geological Survey said.

U.S. drones kill 14 militants in Pakistan

Islamabad, June 06: U.S. drones targeted a madrassa and a house in South Waziristan tribal region of Pakistan on Monday, killing at least 14 suspected militants, security sources said.

The drones fired four missiles at the seminary and house near Wana, one of the main towns of South Waziristan Agency, early this morning.

Sources said five foreign militants were among the dead.

A journalist in Wana said the other slain militants were from Punjab province and locals.

Infant stolen from private hospital

Hyderabad, June 06: An infant was reportedly stolen from a private hospital at Nacharam on Sunday by a woman leading to tension at the hospital.

According to police, a woman from Tadbund in the Old City, Shameema, got admitted to the hospital and delivered a male baby on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, a woman, aged between 25-30 years, clad in a yellow saree approached Shameema and told the latter that her sister was also being treated in the same hospital. Later, the woman, though resisted by Shameema, took the baby and played with him for a few minutes, police said.

Seventy injured in midnight swoop

New Delhi, June 06: About 70 people, including three women, were injured in the police action at Baba Ramdev’s satyagrah camp at the Ramlila Maidan here in the early hours of Sunday. An elderly woman and a young man are said to have suffered serious injuries.

Mumbai, June 06: Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray on Sunday appealed people to protest eviction of Baba Ramdev from Ramlila Maidan and subsequent lathi-charge by hoisting black flags on their houses.

“The time has come to dislodge the Congress from the seat of power. The way the police caned peaceful protesters there was highly condemnable,” Thackeray said in a press release.

“I do not want to jump in the debate whether the fast launched by Baba Ramdev was justified or not. But the way the Congress tried to crush the agitation was deplorable,” he said.

PM should resign: VHP on Ramdev issue

25 killed, 50 injured in two separate blasts in Pakistan

Islamabad, June 06: Footage on television showed the mangled parts of the vehicle hit by the blast lying at the bus stop, which is frequented by residents of Peshawar, Kohat and the nearby Khyber tribal region.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for both attacks. A militant spokesman told TV news channels that the vehicle in the bus stop was targeted because members of an anti-Taliban militia were in it.

Iran will counter attacks with missile

Tehran, June 06: Iran’s Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Ali Larijani says the Islamic Republic will counter any act of aggression against the country with its missiles.

“Iran has turned into an independent, influential and inspiring country in the region, and the enmity of our enemies is not because of issues such as [Tehran’s] nuclear program,” Larijani said on Sunday.

Tehran, June 06: Iran’s minister of culture and Islamic guidance has urged Muslims not pay attention to Western media hype as it aims to sow the seeds of discord.

Mohammad Hosseini said on Sunday Western media are constantly seeking to drive a wedge between Muslim communities, calling on Muslims to turn a blind eye to their propaganda campaigns and settle issues through cooperation and rapport.
