Pensioners’ dearness allowance hiked

Hyderabad, June 6: According to Syed Noorul Anbia Husaini organising secretary AP pensioners samaj, the government of Andhra Pradesh has hiked dearness allowance of government employees and pensioners with effect from January 1, 2011 to 5.136 % in addition to the present 24.824 with this the total percentage of dearness allowance has come up to 29.960 percent.

A GO. No 106 dated June 4, 2011 has been issued in this connection. The arrears of the dearness allowance from January to May 2011 will be paid along with the pension of June, on July 1.

New Delhi, June 06: Protesters who faced the brunt of police action against Baba Ramdev early on Sunday morning, are now trying to pick up the pieces.

Many followers from the Ramlila Maidan sought shelter at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, where representatives of Bharat Swabhiman Trust claimed that several people are missing.

Dr Jadeep Arya, a key advisor on Ramdev’s team, said: “We have not managed to trace all the girl students from the Chotipur Gurukul, who were seated near the dais. We estimate that about 19 girls are still missing.”

Newborn kidnapped from a hospital

Hyderabad, June 6: In an incident occurred at a private hospital at Nacharam a woman kidnapped a newborn baby.

According to details Amina wife of Mahmood Ali resident of Tadban delivered a baby boy at a private hospital at Nacharam on Saturday evening.

Principal raped me in his car

Sitiki, June 06: A local primary school principal has been reported to the police for allegedly raping a shopkeeper inside his car a week ago.

The woman, Pholile, aged 28, alleges that the principal had been proposing love to her when this happened.

“He was proposing love to me. We were not yet lovers. I met him a week ago, and he asked for my cell number and I gave it to him,” said the young woman.

The following day, the 40- year -old principal called her at midnight, requesting that she come out and meet him at her family gate.

30 percent of city has Aadhaar cards

Hyderabad, June 06: The number of Aadhaar registration centres in the city will come down from 151 at present to 100 by June 15, Aadhaar project in-charge and assistant supply officer MS Seshagiri Rao said on Sunday.

He added that since around sixty percent of the population had already registered their names for the Unique Identification number, there will be less need for so many registration centres in the city. “Thirty per cent of Hyderabad has already got the Aadhaar number,” said Seshagiri Rao.

The Aadhaar card gives a 12-digit unique number for all citizens in the country.

43,000 sq yards of government land encroached

Hyderabad, June 06: District officials have started serving notices to many persons who have allegededly encroached government lands but still applied for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to claim ownership of the land.

Sources in the Hyderabad collectorate said in the last several months they received nearly 150 applications requesting revenue officials to issue NOCs for the land under their possession. But during scrutiny of the applications, officials found the applicants had encroached government lands.

Auto driver kills wife

Hyderabad, June 6 (Siasat News): An auto driver slit the throat of his wife at Balanagar’s Goutam Nagar. According to the details, Venkatamma, 30, a labourer, was married to auto driver Murali.

However, Murali was suspicious of Venkatamma’s fidelity. This was always resulted in their fighting. Today morning, when the quarrel turned violent as out of anger, Murali slit the throat and instantly killed her.

Balanagar police has registered a case and Murali is arrested.

Muslim women’s group launches ‘jihad against violence’

London, June 06: A British Muslim women’s group has launched a “jihad against violence”, in a bid to reclaim the term jihad from extremists.

The campaign, launched by Inspire at City Hall in central London on Sunday, aims to combat all forms of violence but with an emphasis on crimes, including terrorism, domestic abuse and female genital mutilation, that some perpetrators attempt to justify in the name of Islam.

Although jihad means a struggle in the way of God, it has been hijacked by extremists, who have attempted to use it to justify holy war, the group says.

Ramdev protests spread to Nepal

Kathmandu, June 06: Protests began in neighbouring Nepal’s capital Monday after the Indian police abruptly ended the fast undertaken by yoga guru Baba Ramdev in the Indian capital New Delhi.

The Patanjali Yog Kendra established in Kathmandu by the yoga teacher, whose fans number millions in India and abroad, Monday took out a silent protest rally from the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu to the foreign ministry office nearby, condemning the police eviction in New Delhi.

Woman raped by friends

Etah, June 06: A woman was allegedly raped by three persons at a village, near here, police said.

The woman, a resident of Etah, was abducted and raped by Kumarpal and his two friends near Nayabans village on February 17, they said.

However, the SHO of Mirechi police station, under which the Nayabans village falls, had refused to lodge an FIR, following which the woman approached the court here.

The court on Saturday ordered a complaint to be registered in this connection. No arrests have been made so far, police said.

Haridwar, June 06: Claiming the support of all major parties barring the Congress to his agitation, yoga guru Baba Ramdev today said the Centre would not be able to bear the consequence of the satyagraha.
