US conducted DNA test to identify bin Laden

Washington, May 02: : The United States conducted DNA testing on slain al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and used facial recognition techniques to help identify him, a US official said on Monday.

Bin Laden was identified by the assault force that killed him in a firefight in Pakistan in which he resisted and was shot in the head, the official said on condition of anonymity.

Results of the DNA tests should be available in the next few days, the official told Reuters.

Five accused in Akbar attack case surrender

Hyderabad, May 02: Five persons allegedly involved in the shoot at on MIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi surrendered before the Commissioner’s task Force south zone this afternoon. The number of accused persons has in police custody has gone upto seven as Mohammed Pahelwan and his younger brother Hasan Pahelwan were picked up on the day of attack. The accused persons gave up after the task force intensified the hunt for apprehending them.

Akbar Owaisi stable, CARE bulletin

Hyderabad, May 2: The condition of Mr.Akbaruddin Owaisi is stable, doctors said Monday, two days after he was stabbed and shot at by rivals.

According to a medical bulletin issued by Care Hospital Monday, the Andhra Pradesh legislator continues to be on ventilator. The doctors are also continuing dialysis.

The doctors said his pulse rate, blood pressure and the functioning of other vital organs are near normal.

His condition is being closely and continuously monitored by a team of doctors, said the bulletin issued by Dr. Ram Papa Rao, medical director, Care Hospital.

Obama signed Kill Osama order on April 29

Washington, May 02: US President Barack Obama signed the death warrant for the world’s most wanted man Osama bin-Laden on April 29, after months of preparations and meticulous planning against the highest-value target.

Obama was actively involved in reviewing all facets of the operation, a senior administration official said, adding the President gave the final go ahead for the secret operation at 8:20am on April 29th in the Diplomatic Room before he left for Alabama.

‘Pakistan in dark on bin Laden operation’

Washington, May 02: The United States did not notify the Pakistani government about the US operation that killed al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden, says a US official.

Late on Sunday, US President Barack Obama announced that bin Laden was killed by US forces after he was found hiding in a compound in Pakistan.

“We shared this intelligence on the compound with no other country, including Pakistan,” the unnamed US official said, AFP reports.

Younger brother kills elder brother

Shadnagar, May 2: A quarrel between two brothers took a tragic turn when the young brother hit the elder brother with a pestle leaving him dead.

The incident took place at Farrukhnagar Mandal. According to details the two brothers have their houses in the vicinity.

The elder brother brought some bricks to construct a wall in between the houses. The younger brother objected on the wall construction and hit his brother Chandrayya with a pestle resulting into the death of Chandrayya.

15 thousand Hajj applications received by Hajj committee

Hyderabad, May 2: Andhra Pradesh State Hajj committee received 15 thousand applications so far while more applications are yet to be received from several districts.

According to Hajj committee sources it is expected that the number will move up to 17 thousand till all the applications are received from the districts.

Central Hajj committee had set April 30 as the last date of submitting Hajj applications. Some of the aspirants could not submit the application due to various reasons including the reason that the month of April had 10 holidays.

Dubai, May 02: Members of Jihadist forums said they prayed the news of Osama bin Laden’s death was not true, and hinted at retaliation if it was, in some of the first Islamist reaction to the al Qaeda leader’s death.

“Oh God, please make this news not true…God curse you Obama,” said one message on an Arabic language forum. “Oh Americans … it is still legal for us to cut your necks.”

“Osama may be killed but his message of Jihad will never die. Brothers and sisters, wait and see, his death will be a blessing in disguise,” said a poster on another Islamist forum.

Two assailants identified

Hyderabad, May 2: Police have identified two expert shooters in connection with the assassination attempt made on MIM floor leader Akbar Uddin Owaisi on Saturday at Chandrayangutta Barkas. They were identified as Abdullah bin Younus and Mohammad bin Salem Valehan.

Corporator Barkas division Mansoor bin Mohammad Awalgi lodged a FIR with Chandrayangutta police station, according to which Hasan bin Omer Yafai who is the younger brother of Mohammad Pahalwan allegedly blocked the Gypsy of Akbar Uddin Owaisi with his Activa and attacked him with a dagger.

Air India cancels 90% of domestic flights…pilots strike continues

Chennai, May 02: With the strike called by Air India pilots affiliated to the Indian Commercial Pilots Association entering its fifth day, flight operations continued to be hit, as only three out of the regular 30 flights were operated on Saturday.
