New Delhi, April 29: Millions across the globe who didn’t get invited to the royal wedding of Prince William and his university sweetheart Kate Middleton, chose to watch the two exchange their wedding rings live on video sharing website YouTube.

More than 5.1 million people around the world watched as bride and groom took their wedding vows in Westminster Abbey, according to the details available on YouTube.

YouTube, which streamed the videos through British broadcaster BBC, followed the wedding procession, marriage ceremony at Westminster Abbey and balcony kiss at Buckingham Palace.

Youtube helps youths plan robbery but not evade arrest!

New Delhi, April 29: They watched several videos of ATM robbery in ‘Youtube’ to plan their heists but two engineering aspirants landed in police net here early this morning soon after they attempted one.

The duo Hardik Shrivastava and Chanchal Gupta belongs to lower middle class families and wanted to secure admission in a “good” engineering college which allegedly prompted them to commit robbery to fund their aspirations.

“We arrested them this morning after a patrolling party found them in suspicious conditions in a park near Ghanta Ghar in Hari Nagar,” DCP (West) V Renganathan said.

1,000 Indian nurses hired in Kuwait

Kuwait, April 29: The assistant undersecretary of the ministry of health for assisting medical services, Dr Qais Al-Duwairi said that the ministry has hired 1,000 female nurses from India and 360 from the Philippines, reports Arabic daily.

Al-Duwairi added that the recruitment committees has finalized the contracting procedures and that the ministry tends to contract more nurses during the second half of the year from Bosnia, Herzegovina, Sri Lanka, the Philippines and China.

Several BJP nominees will win: Jaitley

Howrah (WB), April 29: Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley today expressed confidence that the party would be able to send a sizable number of MLAs to the West Bengal Assembly.

“The BJP has fielded candidates in all 294 seats in the state. The party will produce an impressive result this time.

A sizeable number of our candidates will win,” Jaitley said at an election rally at Mandirtala in Howrah district.

Till now, BJP had only one MLA in West Bengal Assembly Badal Bhattacharya who had won in the 2001 election.

Abu Dhabi prince attends royal wedding

London, April 29: The crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Friday attended the royal wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton at the Westminster Abbey in London.

Sheikh Mohammed, also the deputy supreme commander of the UAE Armed Forces, conveyed the regards of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Queen Elizabeth II and the members of the royal family.

KCR re-elected as TRS Chief

Mahabubnagar, April 29: K Chandrasekhara Rao has been declared re-elected unanimously as President of the TRS at the party ‘One Decade of Telangana Movement’ celebrations here on Friday.

Election to the President’s post was earlier held and all the 12 sets of nominations filed proposed the name of only KCR and as there was no one else in the fray, he was formally declared elected unopposed, at the meeting of the party’s state representatives.

Speaking on the occasion, KCR has expressed his gratitude to the party ranks for reposing confidence in him.

Bahrain shoots protesters

Manama, April 29: Saudi-backed Bahraini forces have deployed tanks and armored vehicles in Diraz, shortly after attacking a peaceful protest march in the western village of Karzakan.

Witnesses say regime forces fired live bullets and tear gas at anti-government protesters and that army helicopters have been flying over protesters in Karzakan on Friday. There were no immediate reports of casualties or arrests.

Also on Friday, the regime forces besieged the northwestern village of Diraz with tanks and heavy military vehicles.

Police summons 695 gun owners in J-K

Jammu, April 29: Jammu and Kashmir Police today summoned 695 gun licence holders for questionings in connection with the fake licensing racket in the state.

“The 695 licences should appear before investigation officer at Bakshi Nagar Police Station along with the gun licence and to record their statements,” a notification issued by the sub-divisional police officer, Bakshi Nagar, said.

It also said that they should deposit their guns in the police stations concerned within 15 days from the day of publication of the notice.

200 Chinese couples marry on day of royal wedding

Beijing, April 29: Two hundred Chinese couples tied the knot in a group wedding ceremony Friday, as Prince William and Kate Middleton wed in faraway London.

The newly-weds were mostly from Tsinghua University in Beijing, Xinhua reported.

“Getting married at my school is sweet. And to make it better, we can celebrate the matrimony with the royal family,” said Wu Jing.

Another newly-wed, Shen Chanjing, said: “As long as I am married to the right man, I will become his princess.”

Sri Lanka gifts sapphire hair pin to Kate

Colombo, April 29: Sri Lanka has gifted a sapphire-studded hair pin to British royal bride Kate Middleton on her wedding to Prince William, an official said.

State-owned Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Authority (SLGJA) said the gift was in appreciation of the British royal family’s association with Sri Lankan sapphires over many generations.

Macky Hashim, SLGJA chairman, said replicas were in great demand since the announcement of the royal wedding.

Britain is among the top 15 buyers of Sri Lankan gems, according to the official Sri Lankan government website.

Pakistan test-fires N-capable missile

Islamabad, April 29: The Pakistani military says it has successfully test-fired a short-range cruise missile capable of carrying nuclear and congenital warheads.

The army said in a statement that the air-launched missile — called Hatf VIII or Ra’ad– can also deliver the warheads with great pinpoint accuracy.

It added that the indigenously-developed missile has a range of 350 kilometers.

The army says Hatf cruise missile has been developed exclusively for launch from aerial platforms.

Over a week ago, the military launched short-range surface-to-surface Hatf IX or Nasr missile.

Govt laying maximum priority to vocational training

New Delhi, April 29: The government is laying “maximum importance” to vocational training with an aim to create a world-class skilled labour force, Labour and Employment Minister Mallikarjun Kharge said today.

He also said while a number of amendments have recently been carried out in the central labour laws in the recent past, bills to amend some other laws have been introduced in Parliament.
