Mumbai, January 31: Hrithik Roshan attended an awards show on Saturday night with wife Sussanne, expecting to take home a trophy for Best Actor (Popular/Critics’ Choice) for his film Guzaarish.

On realising that he wouldn’t be winning the award in either category, the couple made an early exit.

Now while Hrithik chose to keep silent on his Twitter account despite his initial excitement, Sussanne vented her disappointment on her page.

Mumbai, January 31: Barring one shot that brings two of her screen husbands together for a fleeting moment, none of the seven actors who play Priyanka Chopra’s husbands in 7 Khoon Maaf ever appear together in one scene.

“That’s how Vishal (Bharadwaj) designed the projects. The seven men form seven segments in Priyanka’s life, ” says a source.

Minister Aruna escapes attempt on her life

Mahabubnagar, January 31: Information Minister Ms. D K Aruna has escaped what looked like an attempt on her life.

An unidentified caller has told her over telephone on Saturday that there was a plan to kill her at Ija in the district. The minister reported the matter to the police. The police who sprung into action, found some explosives near Ijja. Police are trying to find the caller. They have found that the call came from a coin box in Peddakottapalli village in Kollapur constituency around 4 p m on Saturday.

SRK’s Zor Ka Jhatka on sets: Payal, Gaurav injured

Mumbai, January 31: The shooting of the Shah Rukh-helmed reality show Zor Ka Jhatka in Buenos Aires that concluded last week had many jhatkas. According to one of the contestants who spoke on condition of anonymity, there was more excitement off camera than on it with many contestants going completely berserk and ballistic.

After recording just a few episodes, two of the contestants Payal Rohatgi and Gaurav Chopra had to be sent back, reportedly owing to injuries.

Chief Minister showers gifts on Anantapur

Better than expected response to Racha Banda: CM

Hyderabad, January 31: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday stated that the ‘Racha Banda’ programme taken up by his government from January 24 throughout the State has evoked better response than expected.

In a statement, Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said that the response to the programme from the applicants is very high.

He however said that it has come to his notice that many people especially those belonging to the poorer sections are representing to redress other problems also apart from the seven prioritized issues of the programme.

Hyderabad, January 31: Telangana Martyrs Families Joint Action Committee state president M Raghuma Reddy on Sunday demanded Telangana Political Joint Action Committee pay a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to next kin of each family who laid down their lives for the cause of Telangana statehood.

In a statement issued to media, Mr Reddy alleged the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, which had provoked students to commit suicides, had neglected their family members and failed to help them morally and financially.

Govt to re-conduct Racha Banda at places where obstructed: CM

Chittoor/Anantapur, January 31: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy on Sunday stated that the government would re-conduct the Racha Banda, a programme to address grievances of people, at the places where it was obstructed.

Talking to media persons after participating in Racha Banda at Pileru, his home constituency for the first time, the Chief Minister said the programme has received wide response from all sections of people.

Mr Kiran Kumar Reddy said the government has successfully conducted the programme in 7,450 out of 7,900 village sabhas.

Mounted Police to patrol Hussain Sagar Lake

Hyderabad, January 31: The city police is all set to revive and revitalize the Lake Policing Project around the Hussain Sagar Lake by bolstering the number of police forces with the introduction of mounted personnel.

Talking to media persons at the Necklace Road, City Police Commissioner A K Khan on Sunday stated that apart from the eight mounted policemen, an additional 30 personnel would be patrolling the lake.

The police personnel on patrol duty will also get three new motorcycles and five bicycles.

MLAs to go high tech, get laptops before Budget Session

Hyderabad, January 31: Deputy Speaker of the state Assembly Nadendla Manohar on Sunday revealed that all the Members of the Legislative Assembly would be given laptops before the start of the Budget Session and also be trained to use their ‘gifts.’

Mr Manohar said that the MLAs would have to undergo a five-day training session on how to use a software preinstalled in the laptops. This software will help them focus on Constituency development, the Deputy Speaker said.

Bhanu’s followers remanded

Hyderabad, January 31: Followers of Bhanu, main accused in the murder of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, were on Sunday remanded for fourteen days.

Subbaiah, Hari, Manmohan Singh and Venkata Ramana who were arrested by the police, were produced before the 12th Additional Metropolitan Magistrate here on Sunday. They were remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the magistrate. The accused were hence shifted to the Chanchalguda prison.

London, January 31: Artificial petrol that costs 19 pence per litre could be available in as little as three years.

Scientists in Britain are refining the recipe for a hydrogen-based fuel that will run in existing cars and engines at a fraction of the cost of petrol.

With hydrogen at its heart rather than carbon, it will not produce any harmful emissions during combustion, making it cleaner, greener and cheaper, the Daily Mail reports.

The first road tests are due next year and, if all goes well, the cut-price “petrol” could be on sale in three to five years, the report says.

Saudi King rallies behind Mubarak

Cairo, January 31: Saudi King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz expressed his support for Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak and slammed those “tampering” with Egypt’s security and stability, reported.

The Saudi ruler, in Morocco recovering from back surgery performed in the US, telephoned Mubarak early yesterday.

During the conversation, Abdullah condemned “intruders” he said were “tampering with Egypt’s security and stability … in the name of freedom of expression.”Saudi Arabia, he added, “stands with all its means with the government and people of Egypt.”

8-yr old boy molested at AIIMS

New Delhi, January 31: An eight-year old boy was allegedly sodomised at the All India Institute of medical sciences (AIIMS) at New Delhi. Father of the child reported that his son was molested on January 23rd by a final-year medical student who was on night duty at the Intensive Care Unit of the neurosurgery department.

The complaint lodged by the victim’s father has been forwarded to the institute’s Committee for Addressing Complaints of Sexual Harassment reported.
