However, in a recent interview, Gauri Khan opened up and talked about hubby Shah Rukh Khan and their kids candidly.

“His (Shah Rukh’s) study is one of my favourite rooms. It feels good to see him moving around in that room, or just sitting there and working. It just feels nice to see him at home,” she said.

Bipasha troubled due to rains

Tehran, September 01: A hardline Iranian newspaper stepped up its attack on French first lady Carla Bruni, saying that the “Italian prostitute” deserved to die for supporting an Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning.

“This Italian prostitute’s indignation at Kayhan’s report came while she has had illegitimate relationships with different people before and after marrying (French President Nicolas) Sarkozy,” Kayhan said.

Tainted Pak players face hanging

Lahore, September 01: It comes after a petition filed by Chaudhry Ishtiaq Ahmad, a lawyer, in the Lahore High Court requested to initiate proceedings against the cricketers.

According to The Daily Times, the petitioner stated that the players, by indulging in match fixing, had tarnished the image of the country.

“The players have seriously damaged the already-bad reputation of Pakistani players in the world of cricket and deserve severe punishment,” the newspaper quoted Ahmad, as saying.

Karzai angry over allegations against aid

Kabul, September 01: The recent arrest of Mohammad Zia Salehi, the chief of administration for Afghanistan’s National Security Council, has risen tensions between the US and Hamid Karzai, AP reports.

Salehi was arrested in July, but has not been formally charged for allegedly accepting a car in exchange for his help in thwarting another corruption case involving a company that handles huge money transfers worldwide.

Karzai was outraged by the arrest of his top aid, so he intervened and ordered his release.

4 Israelis killed in West Bank attack

Jerusalem, September 01: Four Israelis were killed in a shooting attack near the West Bank town of Hebron Tuesday, an Israeli army spokeswoman said.

The incident occurred at about local time 7 p.m. (1700 GMT) when gunmen opened fire at four civilians travelling in a vehicle near Kiryat Arba, fatally wounding them, the spokeswoman told Xinhua.

Medical sources confirmed that the victims were from the same family.

Israeli army and police forces are in hot pursuit of the gunmen and are using a helicopter in the chase.

Iraq combat exit no reason for celebration: Obama

Washington, September 01: The official end of the US combat role in Iraq is no reason for celebration, US President Barack Obama said Tuesday.

“There’s still a lot of work that we’ve got to do to make sure that Iraq is an effective partner with us,” Obama told troops in Fort Bliss, Texas, who had seen service in Iraq.

Obama will mark the formal end of the US combat role in Iraq later Tuesday evening in an address from the White House.

PM to lay stone for Mannavaram project today

Hyderabad, September 01: At last, the Prime Minister, Dr Manmohan Singh, would lay foundation stone for the NTPC-BHEL joint venture Mannvaram Power Projects Equipment Manufacturing plant on September 1 in the State.

The Rs 6,000-crore Plant would come up at Mannavaram in Chittoor district. The project was originally mooted during the regime of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.

Why no YSR park on Necklace Road, SC asks forum

Hyderabad, September 01: The Supreme Court, on Tuesday, questioned the Forum for Better Hyderabad to explain as to why a YSR Park should not be laid on the Necklace Road in the State capital.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation had decided to lay a park in memory of late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy on the Necklace Road. However, the Forum for Better Hyderabad has challenged the GHMC decision in the Supreme Court and argued that the park should not be constructed on the Necklace Road on the banks of the Hussain Sagar Lake.

Jewellery shop burgled, ornaments over Rs 30 lakhs stolen

Vijayawada, September 01: Unidentified miscreants targeted a jewellery shop at Kambhampadu, Konduru mandal in Krishna district and decamped with gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 30 lakh.

According to reports, the unidentified burglars broke the locks and lifted shutter of Harika Jewellers and decamped with the gold and silver ornaments worth around Rs 30 lakh, which includes one kilogram of gold and silver ornaments weighing more than 30 kg.

The theft was detected early on Tuesday morning after the shop owner arrived to open it.

MPs urge PM to lift cases against T-students

New Delhi, September 01: Eleven Congress Members of Parliament from Telangana region on Tuesday requested Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to withdraw police cases filed against pro-Telangana students.

The MPs also requested the Prime Minister to declared the Pranahita-Chevella project as a National Project.

The lifting of police cases filed against the students from Telangana region at the height of the separate statehood agitation in 2009 and 2010 has been one of the major demands of all Telangana protagonists.

AICC Odarpu laudable: Nagender

B Ed evaluation disrupted once again in OU

Hyderabad, September 01: The ongoing tussle between regionalists and the Osmania University authorities continued on Tuesday with the task of evaluating B Ed answer scripts by evaluators from Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions once again married by protests.

Tuesday’s protestors however were not students but evaluators from Telangana who demanded that the state government lift all the police cases filed against Telangana protagonists.

The protests began as soon as the evaluation process got underway amidst tight security.

We Are Family is no melodrama: Karan Johar

Mumbai, September 01: Karan Johar is known for his tear-jerkers like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kal Ho Naa Ho but the producer says his upcoming film We Are Family is not a melodramatic film.

“The film is not melodramatic. There are emotions but there light moments too”, said Johar.

Directed by debutant Siddharth Malhotra, the film is a Hindi adaptation of Julia Roberts starrer 1998 hit film Stepmom and stars Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal in the lead roles. The film releases this Friday.

100 Indian prisoners return home

New Delhi, September 01: As many as 100 Indian prisoners, who were sent home by Pakistan authorities, arrived in India via Attari-Wagah border checkpost on Tuesday.

They are all fishermen from Gujarat and Maharashtra, who were arrested by the Pakistan Maritime Agency while fishing in the Arabian sea. Most of them had completed their jail sentence in Karachi in Sindh province and said they had inadvertently crossed into Pakistan’s territory and were arrested on trespassing charges.

Pak inmate ‘missing’ from jail, probe ordered

Amritsar, September 01: An alert has been sounded as a Pakistani prisoner at the high-security Amritsar Central Jail went “missing” on Tuesday, sending the entire jail administration into a tizzy.

Anyait Khan had completed his jail sentence in February and with his verification okayed by the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, he was likely to be sent back home.
