PCB legal team in a fix on questions over Yousuf”s return

Lahore, August 03: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s legal team is finding it hard to explain senior batsman Muhammad Yousuf’s return to the national team despite the fact that the ban on him for indiscipline has not yet been lifted.

PCB legal advisor Tafazzul Rizvi told PTI that Yousuf had been picked for the Pakistan team because he didn’t challenge his ban in March and retired from the international arena. “Since he didn’t challenge the ban it became permanent after the period of 30-days.

Mumbai, August 03: Deepika Padukone who recently said that she is keen to work with Salman Khan has apparently missed a chance to romance the stylish Khan on big screen.

Deepika was approeached by Salman’s brother-in-law Atul Agnihotri to play the female lead in Bodyguard since he felt that Deepika perfectly fits in the role.

Sushma questions absence of ministers

New Delhi, August 03: Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj Tuesday questioned the absence of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Petroleum Minister Murli Deora and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar when the house was about to begin a discussion on the price rise and fuel hike issues.

‘No opposition leader will speak in the absence of the ministers who are answerable to the price rise and fuel price hike,’ Swaraj said pointing to the absence of Mukherjee, Pawar and Deora in the house after the lunch break.

SCR to run 102 special trains in Aug, Sept

Hyderabad, August 03: To clear extra rush of passengers, the South Central Railway will run 102 special trains during August and September between various destinations. Hyderabad-Ajmer weekly train will depart from Hyderabad on August 6,13,20 and 27 and in the return direction it will depart from Ajmer on August 8,15,22 and 29.

Train No.0719 Secunderabad-Bikaner train will depart from Secunderabad on August 4,11,18 and 25 and in the return direction it will leave Bikaner on August 8,15,22 and 29.

TTD to move 270 deer out of Tirumala park

Hyderabad, August 03: THE Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams has decided to shift the deer in the deer park on the Tirumala hills immediately in order to protect pilgrims from deerhunting leopards.

A decision to this effect was taken today by the TTD and the forest department. TTD chairman DK Audikesavulu met forest and environment minister P Ramachandra Reddy here today and discussed the leopard attacks which took place twice within a week on the pathway from Alipiri to Tirumala.

Austrian students to contribute for streetkids

Vijayawada, August 03: Two Austrian students have flown all the way to Vijayawada to contribute for the upliftment of streetchildren. Sabrina Jamnig and Eva Mitterlehner who are pursuing post graduation in Vienna University, Vienna, will stay in the city for four months to work with the NGO Navjeevan Bala Bhavan trust. They have been teaching English and Mathematics to the trust students besides teaching craft.

Crushed Congress wary of holding civic polls

Hyderabad, August 03: The bypoll setback has pushed the ruling Congress into second thoughts over holding elections to the municipalities and corporations in the state.

Though the government has been stating that the process has commenced and the elections would be held in December, the talk in the corridors of power is that they will not be held in the near future.

As per schedule, the government has to conduct elections to municipalities and corporations by the end of September and new bodies have to take charge immediately.

Naidu demands ban on iron ore exports from state

Hyderabad, August 03: Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu has demanded that the state government ban export of iron ore from the state and also release a white paper on iron ore ‘illegally exported’ from here in last six years.

“Karnataka has banned export of iron ore from that state and estimated that 30 million tonnes of it was exported in the last few years. AP has more iron ore reserves than Karnataka and hence the quantity of ore exported illegally from the state could be much higher…Hence it should be banned,” Chandrababu told reporters at the TDP headquarters here today.

SI booked for murder bid on ACB officials

Hyderabad, August 03: A case of attempt to murder was registered against a sub-inspector in the police station he is working, for opening fire on Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths who caught him accepting bribe last night. The SI opened fire on the ACB sleuths and fled by jumping the compound wall of the police station. This is probably for the first time that the ACB sleuths have come under attack by the government officials while discharging duties. The incident took place in East Godavari district.

CPM central panel meet in Vijayawada from August
