2 Mexican pro wrestlers dead, foul play suspected

Mexico City, July 02: Mexican authorities say two professional wrestlers found female robbers may have drugged dead in a low-rent hotel in the capital to death.

Autopsies are being performed on the two midget wrestlers, one of who went by the name “La Parkita” _ or “Little Death” _ and wore a skeleton costume in the ring. The other was known as “Espectrito Jr.”

Authorities say two women were seen leaving the men’s hotel room before the bodies were discovered.

Two killed in road crash

Madinah, July 02: Two people were killed and four others injured yesterday when a GMC van carrying a group of women teachers rammed into a truck, a Civil Defense source said.

He said the accident occurred around 9 a.m. and the fatalities were a woman teacher and the van’s driver.

“Civil Defense officers rushed to the accident site and rescued the women teachers trapped inside the mangled vehicle,” the spokesman said.

EADS wins contract for border security

Jeddah, July 02: European aerospace and defense contractor EADS has signed a contract with Saudi Arabia to build a high-tech security fence on 9,000 km of the country’s border, the company said yesterday.

In a long-awaited deal, EADS Defense and Security, a subsidiary of the French-German conglomerate, is expected to create a system of security posts and surface and aerial monitoring of the Kingdom’s land and sea borders over the next five years, the company announced.

Inter-state gang held, Rs 6 lakh worth articles recovered

Bangalore, July 02: Police arrested a four-member inter-State gang and recovered stolen laptaps and mobile phones worth Rs six lakh from them Commissioner of Police Shankar Bidri said today.

Talking to newsmen here, he said the gang was stealing the articles from houses on the outskirts of the city and selling them at Ambur in Vellore District of Tamil Nadu.

The arrested were Sulaiman, Syed Bhasha alias Kuttibba, Samshuddin and Rizvan, all natives of Ambur Town in Vellore District.

China steps up efforts to revive North Korea nuclear talks

Beijing, July 02: China on Thursday sent its envoy for North Korea to four other nations in a bid to revive stalled talks on ending Pyongyang’s nuclear programme, the Foreign Ministry said.

Wu Dawei, the ministry’s top official for North Korean affairs, left Beijing for Russia, Japan, South Korea and the United States, ministry spokesman Qin Gang told reporters.

Qin said the aim of the trip was to promote the six-nation nuclear talks and “engage in a thorough exchange of views on the North Korean nuclear issue and developments in North-East Asia.”

Iran hardliners want Mousavi prosecuted

Tehran, July 02: A group of hardline Iranian members of parliament want the judiciary to prosecute defeated presidential candidate Mirhossein Mousavi over post-election unrest that rocked the Islamic Republic last month.

“Those who hold illegal rallies and gatherings should be legally pursued,” MP Mohammad Taghi Rahbar was quoted as saying by the hardline Javan newspaper on Thursday.

Pakistan moves troops to Afghan border: Report

Islamabad, July 02: Pakistan’s Army has deployed troops to a stretch of the Afghan border to stop Taliban militants fleeing a major US offensive in southern Afghanistan, a military spokesman said Thursday.
