Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma today directed the officials to make fool proof arrangements for President Pranab Mukherjee visit to State from June 29 to July 8.
During a high level review meeting with officials of all key departments at Secretariat here he asked them to make all security arrangements and setting up of cc cameras in Rashtrapathi Nilayam at Bollarum in Secunderabad.

Former MP Sarve Satyanarayana of Congress has said his party had lost last election in Telangana State because of internecine feuds in the party for Chief Minister post.

Obamas popularity soars in India; US unpopular in Pakistan

US President Barack Obama’s popularity has soared in India following his participation in the Republic Day celebrations this year, latest Pew Research said today.

“About three-in-four Indians (74 per cent) now express confidence in Obama, compared with 48 per cent a year ago,” Pew Research said releasing the result of its latest survey on America’s popularity ratings in major countries across the globe.

“Overall, ratings for the US remain mostly positive, with a global median of 69 per cent expressing a favorable opinion of the country,” it said.

Boeing names Muilenburg as new CEO

The world’s largest aerospace company Boeing Corp. has elected Dennis A. Muilenburg as its new chief executive officer (CEO), the company said here.

Muilenburg, 51, will succeed W.James McNerney as the new CEO as from July 1. McNerney continues as the chairman of the board, Xinhua news agency reported on Wednesday.

Muilenburg has served as Boeing president and chief operating officer since 2013, and is a 30-year Boeing veteran.

Boeing is a leading manufacturer of commercial jetliners and defence, space systems.

Delhi resident doctors call off their strike

Over 20,000 resident doctors, who were on strike over a slew of reforms, late Tuesday called off their strike after a meeting with the union health ministry officials.

The doctors will resume their duties from Wednesday morning.

“We have called off the strike as we have been given proper time-frame within which the government will fulfil all our demands,” Pankaj Solanki, Presdent of the Federation Of Resident Doctors Association (FORDA) told IANS.

FORDA is an association of doctors of 25 Delhi-based government hospitals.

Dowry harassment drives 20yr old woman to suicide

A 20-year-old woman, who had attempted suicide allegedly due to dowry harassment, died at a hospital.

According to Mominpet police, the victim, K Vinoda, had attempted to kill herself by hanging to the ceiling at her residence in Mominpet in Ranga Reddy district on June 17. She was admitted to Gandhi Hospital where she died on Monday night. Enquiries by the police revealed that Vinoda was married to one Ramulu about four years ago. She was allegedly being harassed by Ramulu and his relatives for additional dowry which drove Vinoda to suicide.

Wife, paramour murder supervisor

A 30-year-old man was murdered allegedly by his wife and paramour in Nacharam police limits.

According to police, the victim, K Krishna, a supervisor in a private engineering company, was killed allegedly by his wife Bhagyasri and her paramour Rajasekhar on Sunday night at his residence in Nagalaxmi Nagar near Mallapur. Krishna and Bhagyasri were married about eight years ago and had two children. Enquiries by the police revealed that Bhagyasri was having an affair with Rajasekhar before she got married. The illicit relationship continued even after the marriage.

Vizag Airport authorities seize 55 kg gold

The Custom Department officials have seized 55 kilogram of gold from as many as 70 passengers who arrived at the Vizakhapatnam airport from Sunday evening to Monday morning.

According to sources, the Custom officials have seized gold from passengers who travelled from Air Asia’s flight that arrived from Malaysia on Sunday. 2 killed in train accidents

A 45-year-old man died on the spot after he was hit by a train between Lingampally and Chanda Nagar railway stations.

The incident occurred on Sunday evening. The Nampally Railway Police later identified the deceased as G Prakash, a native of West Godavari.

In another case, K Jangaiah, 60, of Chevella, died on the spot when he was hit by a train between Vidyanagar and Kachiguda railway stations on Sunday night, according to the Kachiguda Railway Police. (INN)

Due to heavy rains and water logging in Mumbai, three trains have been cancelled while two other were re-scheduled.

According to the South Central Railway, the Tr. No. 11041 CST Mumbai- Chennai Express of 22nd June, Tr. No. 12976 Jaipur-Mysore Express on June 24 and Tr.No.11401 CST Mumbai-Nagpur Nandigram Express scheduled on Monday have been cancelled.
