Turmeric Research Center at Nizamabad: Kavitha

The Union Government has given its nod to set up a turmeric research center in Nizamabad, according TRS MP K Kavitha. She called on Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Siotharaman at Delhi and appealed on the setting up of a turmeric research center and Spices Park in Telangana. Later talking to media persons Kavitha stated that the minister given assurance on the turmeric research center. The State Government allotted 40 acres of the land for it which needs development of infrastructure she said. (NSS)

Swamy demands declassification of Bose documents

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy today led a demonstration here demanding declassification of documents and records related to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.

The demonstration was organised by Virat Hindustan Sangam, an outfit formed by Swamy to take up Hindutva issues such as construction of Ram temple in Ayodhya.

Gujarat Congress leaders today said they would meet President Pranab Mukherjee on May 23 and request him not to sign the ‘Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime Bill-2015’, passed by the state assembly on March 31 this year.

The delegation will include Congress president’s political secretary Ahmed Patel, Leader of Opposition in Gujarat Assembly Shankersinh Vaghela, Gujarat Congress President Bharatsinh Solanki, Rajya Sabha MPs and Congress MLAs from the state.

Jammu bar association asks BJP to spell out its stand on AIIMS

Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (Jammu) today gave ultimatum to the BJP MLAs to clear their stand on the issue of AIIMS in the region till May 23.

The ultimatum was given in the meeting of Association held here with the representatives of various political parties, business, social and religious organisations.

The bar also said that a coordination committee would be formed to fight for the rights of Jammu people.

Pak arrest 4 involved in killing of 45 Ismailis in bus attack

Four persons were today arrested for their alleged involvement in the killing of 45 Shia Ismaili Muslims who were gunned down by IS militants in a bus attack in Pakistan’s volatile Karachi city last week.

The Chief Minister of Sindh, Qaim Ali Shah, said that four accused have been arrested.

The office of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif also confirmed it in a statement.

“Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif talked to CM Sindh on phone and appreciated the law enforcement agencies, especially police, on arresting four persons responsible for Safoora Chaurangi incident,” it said.

Bus strike postponed for a week as RTA holds talks with operators

The one-day strike call given by Telangana State Cabs and Bus Operators Association (TSCBOA) has been postponed for a week as the Regional Transport Authority (RTA), Government of Telangana, has assured to take steps to fulfill their demands.

The TSCBOA had earlier given a call for a day-long bandh on May 20.

KCR firm on taking away OU’s land for weaker section housing

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has strongly defended his proposal to construct houses for poor on the land belonging to Osmania University.

Participating in the ‘Swachh Hyderabad’ programme at Budha Nagar in Secunderbad, KCR condemned the political parties and other groups for criticising his decision to utilise university’s land for weaker sections housing. He said that the Congress party failed to provide houses for the poor while in power. But now it is now opposing the TRS Government’s move to provide houses to the weaker sections.

Telangana IT Minister K Tarakarama Rao, who is on a two-week tour of USA, met Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

The minister briefed Satya about the new industrial policy of the state and the single-window clearance for new industries in the state. He also explained the T Hub and TASK initiatives of the State. Various areas in which Microsoft and Telangana government could collaborate were discussed at the meeting.

Customs officials seize 2 kg gold at RGIA

The customs officials seized two kilograms of gold from a passenger at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad on Monday.

The passenger, who arrived from Abu Dhabi, had concealed the gold bars in phone batteries, emergency light and electronic tri-cycle. Further investigations in the case are on. (INN)

Miraculous escape for Etala as his car hits tree

The decision to travel in another car proved lucky for Telangana’s Finance Minister Etala Rajender as the Bullet Proof car, in which he was supposed to travel, met with an accident a few minutes later.

The incident took place near Metpally of Karimnagar district on Monday. Instead of travelling in his official car, Etala boarded the car of Lok Sabha MP G Vinod Kumar, to attend a marriage function. A few minutes later, Etala’s car, which was part of the convoy, lost control and hit a tree. The reasons for accident are being ascertained. (INN)

Naidu leaves for Delhi on two-day visit

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has left for New Delhi on Monday evening on a two-day official visit.

Naidu is expected to meet Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi tonight to discuss issues concerning Andhra Pradesh. Later, he will meet BJP President Amit Shah to discuss the allotment of nominated posts for the TDP leaders. AP’s new capital city’s foundation stone to be laid on June 6

The foundation stone for the construction of Amravati, the new capital city of Andhra Pradesh State, will be laid on June 6 at 8.49 am.

Speaking to media persons after releasing the logo of Godavari Pushkaralu here on Monday, Advisor to AP Government Parakala Prabhakar informed that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the State’s new capital. He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is being invited for the event. The construction of the new capital city will begin on the occasion of Dussera festival, he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Mohammed Mahmood Ali participated in “Swachh Telangana – Swachh Hyderabad” programme at Osmanpura near Kattelguda here on Monday.
