TS agrees to help AP for EAMCET counselling

The Education Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have agreed to constitute an eight member committee which would facilitate IT infrastructure, data sharing, manpower and venue to hold counselling for AP EAMCET on June 12.

The decision to constitute the committee was taken during the meeting of Telangana Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiyam Srihari and his AP counterpart Ganta Srinivasa Rao at the State Secretariat here on Tuesday. Prior to this, both called on Governor ESL Narasimhan at Raj Bhavan who advised them to resolve contentious issues amicably.

Nepal bans children traveling without parents or guardian

The government announced today that all children traveling in Nepal will need to be accompanied by their parents or a legal guardian to prevent the trafficking of young people who lost their homes in the country’s powerful earthquakes.

The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare said the ban is aimed at protecting homeless children who are living in tent camps where there are large numbers of people.

Telangana Cabinet takes major decisions

The Telangana Cabinet on Tuesday gave nod to setting up of a new power plant in the State.

During the three-hour long meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, the State Cabinet gave nod to the MoU signed between the State Government and BHEL over setting up of new power plant. The cabinet also approved the policy for generation of solar power in the State.

Telangana Cabinet to meet tomorrow

The Telangana State Cabinet meeting will be held at the State Secretariat on Tuesday at 4 PM.

The meeting, to be chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, is likely to discuss several important issues including week-long celebrations of Telangana Formation from June 2. The Chief Minister is also likely to take cabinet’s nod for several welfare schemes which he proposes to unveil on the State Formation Day. The cabinet is also likely to decide on filling up of thousands of vacancies in various departments besides giving its nod to regularisation of contract employees.

Police Shocked over Father Raping, Killing Daughter–ASP

District Additional Superintendent of Police Chandana Deepthi has lamented that the incident of a father raping and killing his own daughter was really disheartening.

Speaking to the media here on Sunday, Deepthi expressed shock stating that nobody would expect that a father will commit such a heinous crime. “It is an inhuman action and I have no words to speak on it”, ASP bemoaned.

Heat wave continues; death toll rises to 368 in AP & TS

At least 145 people died due to intense heat wave in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana since yesterday, raising to 368 the death toll in the blistering weather conditions which continued in many parts of the country today, including national capital Delhi.

In Delhi, the day temperature was recorded at 44.5 degree celsius, the same as yesterday, which is five notches above normal.

In Andhra Pradesh, 87 deaths were reported since yesterday, taking the toll to 182. The death toll in the state yesterday stood at 95.

Saudi king vows to punish those behind IS-claimed attack

Saudi Arabia’s king today vowed to punish those responsible for a rare suicide bombing that killed 21 people at a Shiite mosque in the country’s east, calling it a “heinous terrorist attack” that runs against Islamic and human values.

King Salman made the pledge hours after the Interior Ministry confirmed that Friday’s attack in the village of al-Qudeeh in the eastern Qatif region was the work of an Islamic State militant, backing up an earlier claim of responsibility by the group.

Union minister for Civil aviation Ashok Gajapatiraju has said that the recommendation of the 14th finance commission is responsible for not taking a decision to accord special status to Andhra Pradesh.
The centre is not able to take a decision on special status to AP due to some technical problems, the minister said.

Drive Against Drunken driving—58 held

In a drive against drunken driving, the police have registered cases against 58 persons in Twin Cities.
On Sunday, the police conducted the drive at six chowrasthas in Jubilee Hills—Road number 45, 10, Bharathiya Vidya Bhavan, Apollo and other places. The police detained many boozers in the drive. They registered cases on 58 members and seized 58 vehicles including 30 cars and 28 two wheelers. The police informed that they will give counseling and produce the offenders in the Court on Monday. Tree Falls on Car—One Dead

One person died and eight others received injuries when a tree banyan tree(marri chettu) fell on the car in which they were traveling on Sunday.

According to local people, a huge tree suddenly fell on the Tavera car, which was proceeding towards Hyderabad from Vikarabad at Kesaram Gate in Chevella mandal in Rangareddy district. A person, who was in the car, died on the spot and eight persons received injuries. The local people shifted the victims to Chevella Hospital for treatment. Traffic was jammed for two kilometers as the tree fell on the road. (NSS)

Proportionate Political Quota for Mannurukapus’ Demanded

Telangana Rashtra Munnurukapu Mahasabha has demanded for political reservations in Legislature, State Ministry, M P, MLA, MLC and other statutory bodies for them in proportion to their population in the State.
At the General body meeting of the Mahasabha held here today, a resolution has been passed to this effect. The Munnurukapus constitute about 20 per cent of the State’s population. Mr Kashetti Anand Kumar, who has been elected as new President, chaired the meeting, which was attended by more than 2000 members from the ten Districts of the Telangana State.

Inter supplementary exams in Telangana from tomorrow

The Intermediate Advance Supplementary exams will be held across the Telangana State from Monday onwards.

A total of 487,838 intermediate students will appear for the supplementary exams who include 314,505 of Ist year and 173,331 of second year. These students are from 837 junior colleges, including 357 government colleges. The supplementary exams, beginning from Monday, till conclude on June 1.

While the inter first year supplementary exams will be held from 9 AM to 12 noon, the second year exams will be conducted from 2.30 PM to 5.30 PM. (INN)

AAP completes 100 days in office

The AAP-led Delhi government today completed 100 days in office, a period marked by its ongoing bitter tussle with the Lt Governor, a split in the party and implementation of a slew of its electoral promises, including slashing power tariff by 50 per cent and providing free water of up to 20,000 litres per month.

The government also relaunched the ‘1031’ anti-corruption helpline, where people can lodge complaints against officials, to weed out graft and achieve its stated objective of making Delhi the country’s first graft-free state.
