FM: No mini-Pentagon in Islamabad

Islamabad, September 10: Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has denied the reports that the US plans to expand its embassy compound in the country.

“There is no mini Pentagon in the making in Islamabad, it is neither essential nor the Pakistani government will allow its construction,” Qureshi told reporters on Wednesday.

He said the Americans were acquiring land for their diplomatic mission, and added that they should approach the Capital Development Authority (CDA) for the purpose, the Press TV correspondent reported.

This is an unusual recipe of dahi ke kebab.Here dahi or yougurt is mixed with cottage cheese and then made into tikkis.

Ingredients:

1.2 ltrs yoghurt
100 gms cottage cheese grated
40 gms chopped onion
30 gms chopped ginger
10 gms chopped fresh coriander
cornflour to dust
30 gms cashewnut powder
30 gms chopped raisins
4 gms white pepper powder
4 gms cardamom powder
salt to taste
oil to grill

How to make dahi kebab :

* Hang yoghurt overnight.
* Saute the onion and ginger in minimum oil till it sweats.
* Mix the other ingredients.

6 nos. Cloves
2 inches Cinnamon
5 grams Peppercorns
3 grams Mace
200 grams Curds
3 tblsp Lemon juice
100 ml Milk
2 grams Saffron
100 ml Oil
30 ml Ghee
As per taste Salt

Egg Korma Recipe

Egg Korma recipe is a tongue tantilizing dish. Boiled eggs and served with the korma curry.

Onions 2 medium
Milk 1/4 cup
Cashewnuts 2 tbsps.

Coconut (scraped) 1 tbsp.

Cinnamon 1 inch
Green Cardamoms 2
Ginger 1 inch
Vegetable Fat (ghee) 3 tbsps.
Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp.
Salt to taste
Coriander Leaves 1 tbsp

How to make egg korma:

* Peel and chop the onions. Peel and chop the ginger. Chop the cashew nuts. Wash and chop the green chillies. Clean, wash and chop the coriander leaves.

Paaya Nahari Recipe

Paaya Nahari is a typical hyderabadi cuisine. It is a dish made from trotters. A rather unusual and typical hyderabadi recipe.

Ingredients:

8 nos. Trotters
2 nos. Onions
1 tblsp Coriander seeds
1 tblsp Jeera
4 nos. Brinjals
4 nos. Dagad phool
2 pieces Cinnamon
6 nos. Cloves
6 nos. Black pepper
4 nos. Cardamoms (green)
As per taste Salt

How to make paaya nahari:

* Clean and cut the paaya into three pieces.

CHANA DAAL RECIPE

Ingredients:

1 cup chana daal
7 cup water
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp cayenne
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp corriander powder
1 tblsp tamarind pulp
1 tsp sugar
1 tblsp vegetable oil
1/4 tsp black mustard seeds
1 chopped garlic clove

Preparation:

* Soak the chana daal in 4 cup water for 2-3 hours then wash and drain.
* Boil 3 cups water and the salt in a pan.
* Add the chana dal, cover the pan and cook over medium flame for 30 min.
* Stir the dal when cooked.

France takes over key NATO command post from US

Norfolk: France on Wednesday took over a top NATO post, the first time in the military alliance’s 60-year history that one of its supreme commanders is from a country other than the United States.

French Air Force General Stephane Abrial took over from James Mattis, a Marine General who heads US Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM) and is the outgoing Supreme Allied Commander Transformation for NATO.

Food-starved Guatemala declares public calamity

Guatemala City, September 10: Guatemalan President Alvaro Colom declared “a state of public calamity” late Tuesday to help mobilize funds and resources to confront a food shortage that will affect thousands of families.

“This will help us access resources from the international community that are generously offered for this type of situations and to mobilize national resources more rapidly,” Colom said in a statement.

The World Food Program announced it will start distributing 20 tons of nutritional cookies to the most affected areas.

India should address climate change issues: UK

Chennai, September 10: Worldwide climatic changes are more likely to affect India than other nations and it was high time the issue was seriously addressed, British High Commissioner to India Richard Stagg said here on Wednesday.

The changes in temperature and sea level would have “disastrous consequences”, especially in Chennai, which has one of the longest coastal areas, he said at an interaction on global warming, organised by the Chennai Corporation.

‘Popular Indian foods have genetically modified components’

New Delhi, September 10: Food products of Nestle, Cadbury, Kellogg, Britannia, and Safal are among those on a ‘red list’ in a guide prepared by NGO Greenpeace about common food products in India that have genetically modified (GM) components or are GM-free.

The Safe Food Guide released by Greenpeace here ranks 16 well-known brands. It places food manufacturers like MTR, Dabur, Haldiram’s, ITC Foods, PepsiCo India and Ruchi Soya in the ?green list’ based on their stand to Greenpeace that their products are GM-free.

Jet threatens to hire foreign pilots as stand-off deepens

New Delhi, September 10: With the stand-off between the Jet Airways and the agitating pilots deepening and services badly disrupted for the second day on Thursday, the carrier gave a veiled warning of hiring foreign pilots to tide over the situation.

While the airline cancelled over 200 flights as more than 400 cockpit crew failed to turn up for work for the second day, a meeting between Jet Chairman Naresh Goyal and strikeres’ body National Aviators Guild (NAG) failed to take place.

Bahrain Govt Initiative Helps Minimum Wage Earners

Manama, September 10: More than 17,000 lowly-paid Bahraini employees have benefited from a government initiative aiming to improve salaries of local manpower.

The National Programme of Improving Salaries was launched in 2006 with the aim to convince private sectors to accept BD250 as minimum wage for local employees, Assistant Undersecretary of the Labour Affairs at the Ministry of Labour, Sabah Al Dosairi told Khaleej Times on Wednesday.

Israeli settlement plans violate international law: Ban

United Nations, September 10: UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon Wednesday denounced Israel’s plans to build new settler homes in the occupied territories as “contrary to international law.”

Ban “noted with concern” an Israeli decision last week to approve further construction in settlements in the occupied territory, a statement issued by his office said.

“Such actions and all settlement activity are contrary to international law and the roadmap,” it said, referring to the international plan for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Iran’s Mousavi urges calm despite arrests

Tehran, September 10: Iranian opposition leader Mirhossein Mousavi urged his supporters on Wednesday not to be provoked by the detention of one of his top allies and another reformer, a statement on his website said.

Mousavi said the detention of reformers Alireza Hosseini Beheshti and Morteza Alviri was a “sign of more horrendous events to come”.

“Keep your calm and remain aware,” said Mousavi in the statement posted on the website Kaleme.com. “Be careful not to let them (authorities) provoke you…”

Fire Destroys Eight Sharjah Warehouses

Sharjah, September 10: Eight warehouses of a company in the Sharjah Industrial Area Number 11, stocked with petrochemical materials including printing ink and other chemicals were completely destroyed by a fire that broke out on Wednesday at around 3.30pm.

There were no fatalities and the losses are likely to run into millions of dirhams, Colonel Wahid Al Serkal, Director General of Sharjah Civil Defence Department, said.

Fire-fighting units from Sharjah, Ajman and Dubai were working on bringing the fire under control.

ENOC ‘Zooms’ in on New Strategy

Dubai, September 10: Emirates National Oil Company (ENOC) is all set to be the largest operator of convenience stores at Dubai Metro stations.

The government-owned company that has already opened three retail points under the brand name Zoom has announced it will open 28 outlets along the Metro route — 18 on the Red Line and 10 on the Green Line.

Alert in Sindh After Reports of Suicide Bombers’ Arrival

Karachi, September 10: Security of federal ministers, religious scholars, foreign missions and important government installations has been beefed up following reports that scores of suicide bombers have reached Karachi and other parts of the province to carry out terror attacks later this month.

The Sindh Home Ministry has been alerted by the intelligence agencies that a good number of suicide bombers belonging to the banned Tehrik-e-Taleban Pakistan have targeted Karachi to cripple the engine of country’s economy.

Court Issues Notices to 17 Federal Ministers and Advisers

Karachi, September 10: A confrontation between judiciary and the present government seems likely after Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday issued notices to 17 federal ministers, state ministers and advisers in a constitutional petition filed against federal ministries set up on provincial subjects.

The petition was filed by Sindh Dost Rabta Council Secretary Muneer Ahmed and three other individuals through Barrister Zameer Ghumro and accepted by the court.
