Washington, June 19: While every mother wants what is best for their infant, those moms with multiple sclerosis (MS) have difficult choices to make. Breastfeeding, which is the best option for a baby, may not be possible due to medications taken to control the symptoms of MS. However, it has been shown that exclusive breastfeeding may help protect women that suffer from multiple sclerosis against relapses of their disease, possible by delaying the immediate return to normal monthly cycles after giving birth.

Cut-offs dips in Mumbai colleges

Mumbai: The first cut-offs released on Wednesday of several undergraduate courses has witnessed a dip as compare to 2008.

The most popular courses such as Bachelors in Management Science (BMS) and Bachelors in Mass Media (BMM) have witnessed a dip in cut-off.

The cut-off for BMS at St Xavier’s College was 80.83% compared to last year’s 86.33%. At Ramnarain Ruia College, the cut-off for BSc. (computer science) was 86% compared to 91.5% last year.

“This year cut-off goes lower for the reason that this year HSC result has dipped by 10pc,” principal, Hinduja College.

Paramedical institute to come up in Haryana

Chandigarh, June 19: To impart professional education and training to the youths of Haryana an Institute of Paramedical Sciences will be soon set up on the premises of the Haryana Saket Council at Chandimandir.

The institute will be set up in phased manner.

Dr. A. R. Kidwai, Governor Haryana, announced this at the Executive and Annual General Body meetings of the Haryana Saket Council at Raj Bhavan.

Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda was also present in the meetings.

Taiwan pilot fired for videotaping air hostesses in toilet

Taipei, June 19: Taiwan’s EVA Air has fired a pilot after he was caught videotaping air hostesses in a plane toilet, the airline said Friday.
“This incident has happened and he has resigned,” an EVA Air press officer said without elaborating.

The incident occurred Monday on flight to Taiwan from the US via Japan, the Apple Daily reported Friday.

The pilot, only identified by his surname Kim, 39, allegedly hid a small digital video camera in the business-class toilet and filmed the hostesses who were changing out of their uniforms when they went off duty.

Woman bludgeons husband to death

Mumbai, June 19: A woman bludgeoned her husband to death and committed suicide after he refused to accompany her for a walk, police said here on Wednesday.

Vimla (38), who the police said was mentally ill, killed her husband Ram Prakash (47) with a hammer at their house at Shahibabad on Tuesday night, police said.

The incident occurred barely a week after a man killed his five children before attacking his wife and attempting suicide in this satellite town of the national capital.

‘30 explosive-laden vehicles enter Punjab, Rawalpindi’

Lahore, June 19: At least 30 explosive-laden vehicles have entered Punjab as well as the garrison town of Rawalpindi adjacent to the Pakistani capital Islamabad from the tribal areas of the country, a media report Thursday said.

The intelligence agencies had warned of the entry of the 30 explosive-laden vehicles, Online news agency reported, quoting a private TV channel.

Bal Thackeray admitted to ICU with lung infection

Mumbai, June 19: Shiv Sena supreme Bal Thackeray was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Lilavati Hospital here late Thursday evening after he complained of breathing problems, party sources said.
According to a party office bearer, Thackeray, 83, was admitted to the hospital for a lung infection.

“He had breathing problems since yesterday and was rushed to hospital,” the party official said.

Thackeray will be kept under observation, he said, adding he did not know how long the Shiv Sena chief would remain in hospital.

The Atlas V rocket launch lifted off at 5:32 p.m. (2132 GMT), 20 minutes into planned, from NASA’s Cape Canaveral in Florida.

A scheduling conflict with the space shuttle Endeavour, which now won’t be launched before July 11, delayed the launch by a day.

Zardari did not raise Kashmir issue: Manmohan

New Delhi, June 18: With India putting Pakistan on the defensive over cross-border terrorism, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Wednesday said President Asif Ali Zardari did not raise the Kashmir issue during his discussions with him in Russia.

“No discussion on Kashmir took place. He did not raise it nor did I raise it,” Manmohan Singh told journalists on his return home a day after his talks with Zardari in the Russian city of Yekaterinburg.

Suspecting affair, husband kills wife in Noida

Noida, June 18: A 34-year-old woman was stabbed to death by her husband here Wednesday as he suspected her of having an affair with another man, police said. The incident occurred around 4 a.m. Wednesday in Chalera Village in Sector-44 Noida, police said.

Mahaveer, 36, suspected his wife Rekha of having illicit relations with another man who lived in the same locality. An argument broke out between Mahaveer and Rekha and the husband stabbed Rekha to death in a fit of rage, police added.
