Pakistan’s Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami announces a reward of Rs 100 crore to arrest Modi

Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami of Pakistan Maulana Siraj-ul-Haq announced that any person who arrests Mr. Narendra Modi, PM of India will get Rs. 100 crore as reward.

He was addressing a gathering at Rawalakot in Pak-occupied Kashmir. He further told that a reward of Rs 50 crore was announced for arresting Syed Salahuddin, Chief of Hizbul Mujahideen but he could not be arrested.

Addressing Modi, he told “You and your agents failed to arrest Salahuddin although you had announced a reward of Rs 50 crore for arresting him. I will offer Rs. 100 crore to a person who arrests you”

Saudi Arabia names terrorists linked to suicide attacks

Saudi Arabia on Wednesday named 16 of its nationals as terrorists, who are believe to be related to two suicide blasts that targeted Shia mosques in an eastern city, a media report said.

The interior ministry offers cash rewards of $1.3 million for information that could lead to their arrests, and another $1.8 million for those who can provide tips to avoid further attacks, Xinhua reported citing Al Arabiya News.

‘US-led coalition making progress against IS’

The US-led coalition against the Islamic State (IS) is making progress on the ground and destroying the group’s military capabilities, Jordan’s minister of state for media affairs has said, media reported on Thursday.

Jordan is training Syrian people and several Syrian tribes to empower them to stand up to the IS in certain areas in Syria, Mohammad Momani said, Xinhua news agency reported.

Jordan is part of the US coalition that was formed last year with the participation of several Arab and Western countries to fight the IS.

Over 10,000 IS fighters killed in nine months, says US

US Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Wednesday that the US-led military campaign to eradicate Islamic State (IS) has killed more than 10,000 of its fighters in Iraq and Syria over the last nine months.

“We have seen enormous losses from Daesh (IS),” Blinken told France’s Inter radio, saying that despite the group’s capabilities, as evidenced by seizing the Syrian city of Palmyra and Ramadi in Iraq over the past weeks, IS was “a resilient and utterly ruthless foe that has weaknesses and can be defeated”.

Accept Nitish as CM candidate for alliance, JD-U tells RJD

Bihar’s ruling JD-U on Wednesday asked Lalu Prasad’s RJD to accept Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate if it wanted an alliance in the coming assembly polls.

“JD-U’s alliance with RJD is possible only when they will accept Nitish Kumar as the chief ministerial candidate,” state Janata Dal-United (JD-U) president Vashisht Narain Singh told media here.

“If an alliance happens, it is good, but if it did not materialise, then also it is okay,” he said, throwing back the Rashtriya Janata Dal chief’s Monday statement back at him.

Delhi Govt. rejects fresh application for license by Uber, Ola

The Delhi Government on Wednesday rejected fresh applications for licenses by app based taxi services Uber, Ola and TaxiForSure.

“We’ve rejected applications for license given by Uber, Ola and Taxi for Sure. First of all they will have to follow the order of ban. They don’t even have an office in Delhi. Uber said that they have around 18,000 registered people. If they don’t follow the ban, we will be writing a letter to the Central Government,” Delhi Transport Minister Gopal Rai told ANI.

Magnitude 4 earthquake jolts Uttarakhand

An earthquake measuring magnitude 4 on the Richter scale hit Uttarakhand on Wednesday.

The epicentre of the earthquake was in the state’s Chamoli district.

Meanwhile, Uttarakhand Disaster Management Centre chief Piyush Rautela said there was nothing to panic about as the quake was a minor one.

“Shocks have been felt near the areas of Chamoli and the frequency measured was 4. It is not a very serious one and shocks are very common there. One cannot predict if there will be another one soon but we are prepared for it,” said Rautela. (ANI)

Notice to Delhi hospitals for refusing treatment to baby

The Delhi government on Wednesday issued notice to two of its hospitals for not treating a nine-day-old baby who was born with a hole in his heart.

According to medical reports, the baby was born on May 25 but was diagnosed with a hole in her heart.

It was on Tuesday when the health of the baby girl deteriorated, following which her parents took her to the Delhi government’s Holy Family hospital.

However, the hospital refused treatment and referred the baby to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Rains bring down temperatures in Andhra, Telangana

Pre-monsoon showers continued in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on Wednesday, further bringing down the day temperature, Met officials said.

Many parts of coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions of Andhra Pradesh while isolated rains occurred in Telangana, where the conditions remained relatively hot and humid.

According to the Hyderabad Meteorological Office, the highest maximum temperature of 43 degree Celsius in Telangana was recorded at Nizamabad.

Almost all places in Telagana recorded maximum temperature of over 40 degree Celsius.

Maggi row: Govt. refers issue to NCDRC for further investigation

Union Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Wednesday said the government has decided to file a complaint regarding Maggi issue with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) to further investigate the matter as the FSSAI reports might take some time to come.

“We have decided to file a complaint with NCDRC which will further investigate the matter and take appropriate actions. The FSSAI reports might take some time to come. Looking at the seriousness of matter we have decided to file complaint with NCDRC,” Paswan said.

Monsoon to hit Kerala in 48 hours

The monsoon may hit Kerala within 48 hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.

The temperature in several parts of the state rose on Tuesday during the day. But on Wednesday evening, dark clouds formed at many places, suggesting possible rains.

An IMD official forecast rains across Kerala in the next 24 hours. Fishermen have been warned about winds blowing 45 to 55 km an hour on the coast.

The IMD earlier said that the southwest monsoon would set over Kerala on May 30, with a model error of plus or minus four days.

Telugu actress rescued from Goa prostitution racket

A small time Telugu film actress was rescued from a prostitution racket and her pimp arrested in a raid at a five-star hotel here in Goa, police said on Tuesday.

Police Inspector Siddhant Shirodkar told reporters that the raid was conducted late on Tuesday, after police sent a decoy customer to the hotel.

“We arrested her pimp Sayyad and rescued the actress who has been sent to a protective home,” Shirodkar said.

The pimp had been offering the actress for prostitution in many posh resorts in the state in the recent past, the official said.

The US Senate has approved the reform of the National Security Agency surveillance bill without attaching any amendments, ensuring that only President Barack Obama’s signature is now required to reinstate the program.

Some of the parts of the Patriot Act expired after senators were not able to agree on approving the reform bill, which was opposed mainly by Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and also by Sen. Rand Paul, another Republican, for very different reasons.

US Defence Secretary Ashton Carter on three-day visit

American Defence Secretary Ashton Carter today started his three-day visit to the country during which India and US will sign the 10-year defence framework agreement that will steer bilateral ties in the crucial sector.

The agreement, decided during the visit of US President Barack Obama in January, will focus on issues ranging from maritime security, aircraft carrier to jet engine technology cooperation and joint training.

Carter arrived at INS Dega here and was briefed by top officials about the activities of the Eastern Naval Command that looks after security in Indian Ocean.
