Water level in reservoirs not satisfactory-cuts in water supply likely

(Siasat News)After facing the load shedding of electricity, the residents of the city of Hyderabad may have to suffer the shortage of drinking water in the near future.

Due to insufficient rainfall in the neighboring states of Maharashtra and Karnataka, the reservoirs are not getting sufficient quantity of water deposited in them.

As a result of it, it is likely that supply of drinking water may be slashed down in the month of February or afterwards.

26/11 survivors, victims’ kin hail court verdict

Survivors and kin of victims of the 26/11 terror attacks Wednesday hailed the Supreme Court judgment upholding the death sentence of Ajmal Kasab, the only surviving Pakistani terrorist behind the strike.

“I’m more than happy. I know my husband is not going to return, but it gives some peace to my soul that the perpetrator of the crime has been punished even if he is just a pawn,” said Ragini Sharma, wife of Sushikumar Sharma, a ticket inspector at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, who was among the 166 people killed in the carnage.

32 convicted in Naroda Patiya massacre

A special court in Gujarat Wednesday convicted 32 people, including a former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minister, for the massacre of 97 people in Naroda Patiya locality during the 2002 riots.

Former minister and then BJP legislator Mayaben Kodnani and Bajrang Dal leader Babu Bajrangi were amongst those held guilty.

The court also acquitted 29 people in the case.

On Feb 28, 2002, a total of 97 people were killed in the industrial locality of Naroda.

Supreme Court backs death for Kasab

The Supreme Court Wednesday upheld the death sentence of Ajmal Kasab, the only Pakistani terrorist caught alive after the 26/11 Mumbai strike that claimed 166 lives.

“We are constrained to hold that the death penalty is the only sentence that can be given in the circumstances of the case,” the apex court bench of Justices Aftab Alam and C.K. Prasad said.

The Supreme Court Wednesday upheld the death sentence of Ajmal Kasab, one of the 10 Pakistani terrorists who launched the 26/11 Mumbai carnage that claimed 166 lives.

Kasab, the only Pakistani caught alive after the Nov 26-29 mayhem, had moved the apex court challenging the death sentence by a trial court, which was later upheld by the Bombay High Court.

India is more opportunity than threat, said a Pakistani daily that noted the thaw in ties between Islamabad and New Delhi.

Sikh body wants action against Ajay Devgn

Claiming that Sikhs were being shown in a bad light in the film “Son of Sardar”, the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSF) has urged the clergy to take action against actor-producer Ajay Devgn.

In a letter to Akal Takht head Gurbachan Singh, AISSF president Karnail Singh demanded action against Devgn for hurting the religious sentiments of Sikhs.

The Akal Takht is the highest temporal seat of the Sikh religion.

Karnail Singh Tuesday said the film, to be released in November, had blasphemous remarks against Sikhs.

State government decided an upper cap on the fee reimbursement

However this decision will not create problem to the student who want to take admission in 578 colleges where the fee is Rs.35, 000 but the student whose rank is good and can get seat in good engineering college where the placement and infrastructure is good will be forced to take in the 578 college if they financially not strong.

Republicans declare India geopolitical ally

As Mitt Romney officially clinched the Republican presidential nomination, the party declared India a “geopolitical ally and a strategic trading partner”, much like the current occupant of the White House, Democrat Barack Obama.

Indicating the bipartisan support that US-India relationship enjoys, the party platform released Tuesday at its national convention in Tampa, Florida, said: “We welcome a stronger relationship with the world’s largest democracy, India, both economic and cultural, as well as in terms of national security.”

Syrian opposition asks US to introduce no-fly zone

The opposition Syrian Support Group has called on the US to immediately establish a no-fly zone over Syria.

The group, which represents the rebel Free Syrian Army in Washington, claimed that Syria’s ruling authorities have intensified use of air strikes to attack cities held by rebels.

Louay Sakka, co-founder of the Syrian Support Group, said: “This is right now the time for a no-fly zone to take place. We need to stop the fixed-wing and helicopters from attacking. The regime cannot hold ground without air power or heavy artillery.”

TDP’s protest on energy crisis
