(Siasat News)According to a press note issued by Mr. Zubair bin Saleem Al-Umoodi, General Secretary of All India Minorities Welfare Asscoation, an emergency meeting of the Association will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday 11th September at the office of the Association near Happy Home Dairy, Rajender Nagar Road opposite pillar number 216 under the chairmanship of Mr. Shamshad Quadri, President of the Association. Various issues including fees reimbursement scheme etc. will be discussed in the meeting.

Deccan Studies Center inauguration in Urdu University today -Dr. Remple’s lecture

(Siasat News)Maulana Azad National Urdu University has established “Deccan Studies Center” and named it after the famous historian of Deccan, Prof. Haroon Khan Sherwani. Its inaugral function will be held today at 11 a.m. at Urdu University campus, Gachi Bowli, Hyderabad.

Prof. Mohammed Miyan, Vice Chancellor of Urdu University will inaugurate the Center.

Dr. Mohammed Suleman Siddiqui, Maulana Azad professor of Urdu University will highlight the aims and objectives of the establishment of Deccan Studies Center.

Mr. Farooq Hussain represents to Azad for Sub-Plan for Muslims

(Siasat News)Congress MLC, Mr. Farooq Hussain made a representation to Union Health Minister and in charge of A.P. affairs, Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad about the need to allocate a sub-plan for the Muslims in the State budget. He told that such a move is necessary for the development and welfare of the Muslims.

Mr. Azad gave an assurance to Mr. Farooq Hussain that this matter would be considered.

No guidelines to regulate media reporting of sub-judice matters: SC

The Supreme Court Tuesday said that there can be no blanket guidelines to regulate media reporting of sub-judice matters but restrictions could be sought in specific cases.

“No guidelines can be framed across the board to regulate media reporting of sub-judice matters,” Chief Justice S.H Kapadia, heading a consitution bench, said while pronouncing the verdict.

However, “any aggrieved person apprehending prejudice can move the competent court seeking to restrain the media from reporting the proceedings in his/her case”, Kapadia added.

Four die in Brazil plane crash

Four people were killed when a single-engine airplane crashed during a sightseeing flight over the central Brazilian state of Goias, authorities said.

The accident took place around 4.30 p.m. Sunday in the municipality of Acreuna, about 155 km from Goiania, the state capital.

The dead were the pilot and three passengers: sisters Franciele and Andressa Alves Freitas, aged 19 and 14, respectively; and Nivia Maria Gomes Barros, 24.

The aircraft fell from the sky and hit the ground about 500 m from the runway at the Acreuna flying club.

Indians look at US favourably; want Obama to win: Pew survey

While a majority of Indians is favourably disposed toward the United States, only a third of urban Indians approve of China and just 13 percent have a positive view of Pakistan, according to a new survey.

A 58 percent-majority is favourably disposed toward the US and they see America in a more favourable light than they view other major world powers, such as Russia (48 percent) or the EU (38 percent), according to the survey by the Pew Research Centre’s Global Attitudes Project.

India takes up case of child in foster care in US

Indian missions in the US have taken up with authorities the case of an Indian couple who have been denied custody of their child after he suffered head injuries in a fall.

US authorities took the one-year-old boy, Indrashish, under their care after the accident at the New Jersey home of an Indian engineer Debasish Saha, 28 on Aug 9. The child is currently in Children’s Specialised Hospital, New Brunswick, New Jersey, according to the Consulate General of India in New York. Prior to this, he had undergone treatment at Goryeb Children’s Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey.

Taliban issues ‘kill notice’ for Britain’s Prince Harry

Taliban on Monday threatened to kill Britain’s Prince Harry, who is serving a fresh deployment in Afghanistan as an Apache attack helicopter pilot, four years after his previous battle stint in the war-torn country was cut short over similar threats.

Describing 27-year-old Prince Harry as a “high-value target”, a militia spokesman said they will “make their best efforts to arrest or kill” him, the Sky news reported.

28 die in Himachal bus accident

At least 28 people were killed and five injured when a state roadways bus skidded off the road and fell into a 500-foot-deep gorge Monday night in Himachal Pradesh’s Kangra district, an official said.

Twenty-eight bodies have been recovered from the wreckage of the bus, while five injured have been hospitalised, Deputy Commissioner K.R. Bharti told IANS Tuesday.

The 42-seater bus, ferrying passengers from Palampur to Asha Puri, a village known for a hilltop shrine, had been overcrowded, one of the survivors told police.

Jilted lover shot himself after killing his lover

Pinki Kumari who was a student of Master of Science (MSc) had an affair with Naresh Acharya who was working at a petrol pump.

As she got engaged to someone else Naresh decided to kill her, he went to Pinki’s house on Sunday night and shot her in the head and escaped.

After the murder he called Pinki’s brother and told him that he had killed Pinki. When her brother found her body on the rooftop, he informed police.

However after killing her, he shot himself on the head.

Turkey military killed 25 militants in Iraq

Turkish military carried out cross border military operations into Iraq and staged against 14 targets of the banned Kurdish Workers’ Party (PKK) this past week, killing 25 militants of the outfit, an official statement from Turkey said.

The military operations were carried out between Sep 5 and 9, killing at least 25 PKK militants, Xinhua quoted a statement released by the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces as saying.

Zardari has taken Sarabjit’s case very seriously: Krishna

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari has taken “very seriously” the case of Indian death row prisoner Sarabjit Singh, who has been in a jail for two decades, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said.

Mr Krishna raised 49-year-old Sarabjit’s case with Zardari during a meeting in Islamabad on Friday.

“The President has taken it very seriously and he instructed his office to look into the details,” Mr Krishna told Indian reporters during an interaction here on Saturday evening.

Rajasthan has a plan for minorities

Despite the Sachar Committee Report of 2006 that showed that the literacy rate among Muslims being far lower than national average, and their representation in managerial and professional classes poor, little has been done to facilitate their greater integration with the mainstream. The Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, however, is set to change that.

Energy crisis in State-Restrictions on major units

(Siasat News)Central Power Distribution Corporation of A.P. has made a proposal through to all the four power distribution corporations to A.P. Electricity Regulatory Authority of A.P. Electricity to impose restrictions on major units under the Electricity Act of 2003. The demand for electricity in the State has increased. At present 202 million-unit powers is being supplied as against the demand of 276 million units. In this way, there is a shortage of 72 million units per day.

Generation of electricity is being hampered due to the slow flow of water in reservoirs.
