Bus fares hike opposed by CPI

Dr. K.Narayana, State Secretary of CPI, while addressing a press conference at Makhdoom Bhavan yesterday demanded the Govt. to withdraw increase in bus fares announced yesterday. He threatened the Govt. to launch a massive agitation if it is not withdrawn.

Hajj Pilgrim’s meeting at Vijayanagar Colony

Under the auspices of A.P. State Hajj Committee, a meeting of the Hajj Pilgrimage was conducted at Masjid Husaini, Vijayanagar Colony yesterday.

Mr. Syed Khaeleeluddin, President of Hajj Committee gave some advice to the Hajj Pilgrims. He requested them to report to the Hajj Committee at Hajj House 48 hours before the flight. The Hajj committee will notify the final schedule of flights in a day or two.

Maulana Mohammed Jamalur Rahman highlighted the etiquette of visiting the shrine of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).

VRK Engg College Students are deprived of their certificates for non-payment of fees reimbursement

Muslim students of Dr. V.R.K College of Engineering, Karimnagar have not yet received their certificates because they have not been able to get fees reimbursement form the Minorities Finance Corporation. The matter was represented to Dr. Mohammed Ilyas Rizvi, M.D. of Minorities Finance Corporation and Collector of Karimanagar. Mr. Abdul Hameed, Executive Director of Minorities Corporation told that the students are facing inconvenience due to the differences between the college management.

Students have requested Ms. Sabithat Agarwal, Collector to resolve the matter.

Wakf Board is responsible for destroying wakf lands-Aziz Pasha

It is necessary to convert A.P. State Wakf Board into Wakf Commisonerate in order to protect more than four lakh acres of wakf land. Former Rajya Sabha M.P., Mr. Aziz Pasha stated this, in a press conference he addressed yesterday at Makhddom Bhavan. He pointed out that there are more than two lakh acres of wakf lands in Ranga Reddy District. He blamed that Wakf Board is lethargic and hence wakf properties are being damaged. He alleged that Chairman, CEO and members of Wakf Boards, barring a few, prefer their self-interests. They are mainly responsible for running wakf lands.

Refusal of permission for Telangana March is unjust-TPF

A delegation of the leaders of Telangana Praja Front met Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy, C.M. of A.P. and presented a memorandum to him demanding withdrawal of all the cases registered against Telangana leaders and students during the Telangana agitation last year.

Stratosphere winds affect seas, earth’s climate: Study

Winds 15-30 miles high up in the stratosphere change mile-deep ocean circulation patterns, affecting earth’s climate in turn, says a new study.

“We found evidence that what happens in the stratosphere matters for the ocean circulation and, therefore, for the climate,” says Thomas Reichler, study co-author and associate professor of atmospheric sciences from the University of Utah.

Vivek plans second production after ‘Dekh Indian Circus’

Actor Vivek Oberoi, whose debut production “Dekh Indian Circus” earned accolades in the international circuit, plans to produce another film.

“I believe if people have interesting ideas and if you are in a position to support those ideas, then you should do it. There is another story which I want to make and hopefully by December or January, I will produce that film also,” the 36-year-old said here.

About the film’s story, he said: “It is based in Gujarat, a human story. I may even act in it.”

10 hurt in fight at China plant

More than 10 people were injured when a fight broke out among workers at a Foxconn plant, the world’s largest maker of computer components, in China, police said Monday.

The fight started at 11 p.m. Sunday in the plant’s dormitory in Shanxi province, drawing a large crowd of spectators and triggering chaos, said a spokesperson from the public security bureau.

Around 5,000 policemen were sent to the scene. The situation was brought under control Monday, reported Xinhua.

Joshi takes over as railway minister

Road Transport and Highways Minister C.P. Joshi Monday took additional charge of the railway ministry following the exit of Trinamool Congress’ Mukul Roy.

Joshi is MP from Bhilwara in Rajasthan.

Though this is only an additional charge for Joshi, the key infrastructure ministry has returned to the Congress after 17 long years.

C.K. Jaffer Sharief was the last railway minister from the Congress (1991-95).

Roy resigned from the cabinet Friday along with five other Trinamool ministers of state after their party withdrew support to the UPA over the government’s economic measures.

Newly-wed actress Esha Deol says she will now accept only those roles that suit her family life.

The 30-year-old, who married businessman Bharat Takhtani June 29 this year, told IANS: “If something comes my way and if it suits my family situation, I will take it up. It has to be a respectable character, for I can’t be doing ‘Dhoom’-kind roles now.”

Talking of her future plans, she said, “I have a home production firm and I am starting television production soon. Of course, my classical dance engages me too.”

The actress said that she had no film roles in the pipeline, as of now.

250 Pakistani police recruits get food poisoning

Nearly 250 police recruits suffered food poisoning in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi, a media report said Monday.

The 244 sick police recruits were taken to Jinnah Hospital here, Geo News reported.

Simi Jamal, an official, said over 100 trainee police personnel have been discharged after an improvement in their condition.

The mass food-poisoning took place at Razzakabad Police Training Centre. Hundreds of trainees, who had eaten the food provided by their mess, fell ill. Most of the recruits started throwing up, causing severe dehydration.

Nine suffocate to death in prayer hall

At least nine devotees, including eight women, died of suffocation in an ashram in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district Monday, police said.

According to police, thousands of people arrived to take part in Saint Thakur Anukul Chand’s 125th birth anniversary celebrations at an ashram in Deoghar district.

“During morning prayers at 5 a.m. hundreds of devotees gathered in a congested hall. More than 15 people fainted,” a police official told IANS over telephone.

Samjhauta Express engine catches fire in Pakistan

The engine of the India bound Samjhauta Express caught fire in Pakistan’s Lahore district Monday, police said. There were no casualties.

According to Railway DSP Javed Anwar, the incident occurred near Mughalpura station.

Fire brigade personnel detached the engine from the Samjhauta Express, reported Geo News said.

The 312 passengers who were on board the train were safe and a substitute engine has been sent, Anwar said.

12-year-old shoots man dead

A 12-year-old boy shot dead the priest of a temple in a suburb of this state capital after the man entered into an argument with his mother, police said.

The incident occurred Sunday at Bholakheda here. Kamal Kishore Tiwari, 27, a priest, went to the grocery shop owned by the boy’s father to buy milk.

The boy’s mother said there was no milk. But the priest would not take no for an answer. When the woman refused to give him milk, he caught hold of her in anger.
