Arrests of M.P. shameful for Govt. Anand Bhasker

Congress M.P. of Rajya Sabha, Mr. Anand Bhaskar told that the arrest of his fellow M.P’s by the police yesterday on the occasion of Telanganan March was shameful on the part of the Govt. He strongly protested the action taken by the police to arrest the M.P’s. He blamed Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy for making an attempt to sabotage Telangana Movement. Govt. granted permission for the March but the police didn’t care for Govt. order. The M.P’s who wanted to apprise the C.M. of the police atrocities were arrested which is shameful.

Dy. C.M. and Janna Reddy threatened to resign

Protesting against the illegal arrests of Congress M.P’s and other agitators, Dy. C.M. Damodhar Raja Narimha and Pancharayath Raj Minister threatened to resign from their posts if C.M. Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy fails to stop the police from preventing the people coming to attend the Telangana March.

Govt. blamed for creating emergency like situation. TDP leaders arrested

Before participating in Telangana March, the police arrested the leaders of Telangana TDP forum and they were shifted forcibly to other places. Police Violence on Telangana March is Satanic act-Dr. Keshava Rao

Teacher jailed for sex with teenaged girl

A music teacher in a British college has been banned for life from teaching and jailed for 14 months after he had secret sex sessions at his institute with a 16-year-old girl.

David Livesey, 27, from Prenton, Merseyside, sparked the affair with a suggestive comment on a photo of the girl in a prom dress on a social networking site, the Daily Express reported.

The Liverpool crown court heard that the man had an 11-month relationship with the girl, now aged 18, and sex sessions at St. John Plessington College, Wirral.

Kejriwal to float new political party Tuesday

Days after his split with Anna Hazare, activist Arvind Kejriwal will formally join politics Tuesday with the announcement of launch of a political party.

The move will coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Kejriwal will also announce members of his new party, an aide said Monday.

“The formal launch of the party will be tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. The announcement will be made at a function at the Constitution Club in New Delhi,” Aswathi Muralidharan, India Against Corruption media coordinator, told IANS.

IAS officer arrested in UP for molesting woman on train

A senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh government was Monday arrested for molesting a woman on board the Lucknow Mail, police said.

The arrest was made by the Railway Police after the woman, who was on board the Lucknow Mail train, lodged a formal complaint on arrival in Lucknow, according to police.

Inspector General of Police (Railways) Ashutosh Pandey confirmed to IANS that senior IAS officer Shashi Bhushan was arrested on charges of molestation.

Fines from men travelling in women’s only coaches have swelled Delhi Metro coffers by a staggering Rs.32 lakh ($60,394) in the two years since the rule was introduced on Oct 2, 2010, an official said.

In August alone, 1,538 men were penalised Rs.3.8 lakh but they continue to break the rule with impunity, the official said. This, in spite of the fact that the first coach of each train is reserved for women only and this is prominently marked on both the train and on the platform.

Maharashtra aims to boost organ donations, widens net

In a bid to boost organ donations, the Maharashtra government has initiated several measures aimed at strengthening the health network and widening the net of prospective donors, a top official said Monday.

The state government issued a government resolution (GR) making it mandatory for hospitals to inform about their ‘brain dead’ patients to organ transplant centres through Divisional Transplant Co-ordination Committees, said the health department official, requesting anonymity.

Two killed in Nepal landslide, five Indians missing

At least two people were killed and over a dozen, including five Indians, were reported missing when five vehicles were hit by a landslide on a highway in Nepal Sunday night, police said Monday.

The landslide occurred along the Mechi highway near Ilam in eastern Nepal, the myrepublica.com website reported.

Two bodies have been found and search for the rest is on. Police said one body was identified.

The second is of a woman, who was yet to be identified. Both were found 100 metres below the hilly road Monday morning, police said.

Declared dead, militant arrested 20 years later

A Sikh militant, who was declared dead 20 years ago, was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police, an official said Monday.

The militant has been identified as Sukhwinder alias Sukkha.

Police said on the basis of information, raids were conducted in various areas of Punjab, Haryana, Gurgaon, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

“The militant had taken on another name to mislead authorities. He was arrested two days ago,” a police official said.

CAG not exceeding mandate, rules apex court

The Supreme Court Monday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) that contended the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) was not mandated to go into policy decisions of the government to arrive at presumptive losses.

The PIL petitioner, economist Dr Rakesh Gupta contended that the CAG exceeded the brief of constitutional mandate by commenting on policy choices of the government in arriving at presumptive losses running into lakhs of crores of rupees in reports on civil aviation, the power sector and the allocation of coal blocks.

Five foreign militants killed in Kashmir

Five separatist militants, all from Pakistan, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in north Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Monday, police said.

“Five militants have been killed in this encounter. All of them belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen group,” a senior police officer told IANS.

The officer said all the slain guerrillas were foreigners belonging to Pakistan.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site.

Lohan assaulted inside hotel room

Actress Lindsay Lohan was reportedly assaulted by a man inside a hotel room here.

She told police that she was assaulted inside W Hotel here early Sunday morning by Christian Labella, 25, a man she met at Manhattan nightclub 1Oak.

According to Lohan, Labella had taken photos of her on his cell phone while they were hanging out at the hotel with a couple of her friends in her 15th floor room. When she saw the photos on his phone, she confronted him and took his phone.

Lohan said Labella then threw her on the bed, causing scratches, and even punched her.

J&K assembly condemns anti-Islam film

The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the anti-Islam film that has evoked violent reactions in some Muslim countries.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the state cabinet had already condemned the film that has hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims across the world.

“We have already condemned the film in the cabinet,” Abdullah told the 10-day autumn session of the state assembly which started here Monday.
