Congress M.P. of Rajya Sabha, Mr. Anand Bhaskar told that the arrest of his fellow M.P’s by the police yesterday on the occasion of Telanganan March was shameful on the part of the Govt. He strongly protested the action taken by the police to arrest the M.P’s. He blamed Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy for making an attempt to sabotage Telangana Movement. Govt. granted permission for the March but the police didn’t care for Govt. order. The M.P’s who wanted to apprise the C.M. of the police atrocities were arrested which is shameful.

Protesting against the illegal arrests of Congress M.P’s and other agitators, Dy. C.M. Damodhar Raja Narimha and Pancharayath Raj Minister threatened to resign from their posts if C.M. Mr. N.Kiran Kumar Reddy fails to stop the police from preventing the people coming to attend the Telangana March.

They said that Govt. has already given permission for Telangana March.

Police arrested G.Sukhender Reddy, Poonam Prabhakar, Dr. K.Keshava Rao, G.Vivek when they were proceeding towards Necklace Road in a rally procession. They were again arrested after their release.

Before participating in Telangana March, the police arrested the leaders of Telangana TDP forum and they were shifted forcibly to other places. Mr. Dayakar Rao indulged in heated discussions with the police at Gun Park. The police shifted them to other places forcibly. He questioned the justification for their arrest. Mr. Dayakara Rao, MLA Chairman Telangana Forum of TDP, Mr. M.Narasimhulu, Mr. T.Krishna Reddy, former Mayor, Mr. M.L. Srinivas and other leaders were present on this occasion.

Home Minister, Ms. Sabitha Indira Reddy and Panchayathraj Minister Mr. K.Jana Reddy declared yesterday’s Telangana March successful. They said that once again the people of Telangana have succeeded in communicating their sentiments to Central Govt. They said that their next target would to form Telangana State.

They appealed to the people who were agitating at the necklace road to end the protest and to cooperate with the police.

Senior Congress leader, Dr. K.Keshava Rao blamed the police for using rubber bullets and tear gas shells on the peaceful Telangana agitators despite the fact that permission was given for the March. He told that Congress M.P’s of Telangana are reviewing the situation. He has also spoken to Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said that they won’t hesitate to take a stern step.

He thanked the people and Prof. Kodandaram for the success of Telangana March.

CPI (M) condemned the attitude of the police in arresting the Congress M.P’s. The State Secretary of CPI (M) Dr. K.Narayana deplored this incident strongly and said that it is most unfortunate that arresting Congress M.P’s in the Congress ruled state is a humiliation to the Govt. C.M. has no moral right to continue in his post. He told that Central Govt. is indecisive about Telangana issue for the past 8 years. In fact, Congress Govt. had promised for the formation of Telangana State at the time of 2004 elections itself. Mr.

Staunch supporter of integrated A.P. State, Mr. L.Rajagopal M.P. told that Hyderabad is not the jagir of anybody. He appealed the people to boycott the leaders of the Telangana who turned the Telangana March violent and also to take action against them under Preventive Detention Act.

Irritated by their arrests, Congress M.P’s targeted the State Govt. that it is a part of a conspiracy to sabotage Telangana March by erecting barricades on the roads and also by stopping the district protesters from attending the March.

A music teacher in a British college has been banned for life from teaching and jailed for 14 months after he had secret sex sessions at his institute with a 16-year-old girl.

David Livesey, 27, from Prenton, Merseyside, sparked the affair with a suggestive comment on a photo of the girl in a prom dress on a social networking site, the Daily Express reported.

The Liverpool crown court heard that the man had an 11-month relationship with the girl, now aged 18, and sex sessions at St. John Plessington College, Wirral.

Days after his split with Anna Hazare, activist Arvind Kejriwal will formally join politics Tuesday with the announcement of launch of a political party.

The move will coincide with the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Kejriwal will also announce members of his new party, an aide said Monday.

“The formal launch of the party will be tomorrow (Tuesday) morning. The announcement will be made at a function at the Constitution Club in New Delhi,” Aswathi Muralidharan, India Against Corruption media coordinator, told IANS.

A senior Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of the Uttar Pradesh government was Monday arrested for molesting a woman on board the Lucknow Mail, police said.

The arrest was made by the Railway Police after the woman, who was on board the Lucknow Mail train, lodged a formal complaint on arrival in Lucknow, according to police.

In a bid to boost organ donations, the Maharashtra government has initiated several measures aimed at strengthening the health network and widening the net of prospective donors, a top official said Monday.

The state government issued a government resolution (GR) making it mandatory for hospitals to inform about their ‘brain dead’ patients to organ transplant centres through Divisional Transplant Co-ordination Committees, said the health department official, requesting anonymity.

At least two people were killed and over a dozen, including five Indians, were reported missing when five vehicles were hit by a landslide on a highway in Nepal Sunday night, police said Monday.

The landslide occurred along the Mechi highway near Ilam in eastern Nepal, the myrepublica.com website reported.

Two bodies have been found and search for the rest is on. Police said one body was identified.

The second is of a woman, who was yet to be identified. Both were found 100 metres below the hilly road Monday morning, police said.

A Sikh militant, who was declared dead 20 years ago, was arrested by the special cell of Delhi Police, an official said Monday.

The militant has been identified as Sukhwinder alias Sukkha.

Police said on the basis of information, raids were conducted in various areas of Punjab, Haryana, Gurgaon, Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).

“The militant had taken on another name to mislead authorities. He was arrested two days ago,” a police official said.

The Supreme Court Monday dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) that contended the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) was not mandated to go into policy decisions of the government to arrive at presumptive losses.

The PIL petitioner, economist Dr Rakesh Gupta contended that the CAG exceeded the brief of constitutional mandate by commenting on policy choices of the government in arriving at presumptive losses running into lakhs of crores of rupees in reports on civil aviation, the power sector and the allocation of coal blocks.

Five separatist militants, all from Pakistan, were killed in a gunfight with security forces in north Kashmir’s Ganderbal district Monday, police said.

“Five militants have been killed in this encounter. All of them belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen group,” a senior police officer told IANS.

The officer said all the slain guerrillas were foreigners belonging to Pakistan.

A huge cache of arms and ammunition has been recovered from the encounter site.

Arvind Kejriwal today played down criticism by Anna Hazare of his anti-corruption group getting into politics, saying there was no fight between the two and they were combating graft through different routes.

Kejriwal, who met Hazare for the first time after they split on the question of forming a political party, said, “We came to meet him as he is in Delhi. We have a relationship. There is no fight between us. He himself has said the goal is same though the paths are different”.

Actress Lindsay Lohan was reportedly assaulted by a man inside a hotel room here.

She told police that she was assaulted inside W Hotel here early Sunday morning by Christian Labella, 25, a man she met at Manhattan nightclub 1Oak.

According to Lohan, Labella had taken photos of her on his cell phone while they were hanging out at the hotel with a couple of her friends in her 15th floor room. When she saw the photos on his phone, she confronted him and took his phone.

Lohan said Labella then threw her on the bed, causing scratches, and even punched her.

The Jammu and Kashmir legislative assembly Monday unanimously passed a resolution condemning the anti-Islam film that has evoked violent reactions in some Muslim countries.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said the state cabinet had already condemned the film that has hurt the feelings of millions of Muslims across the world.

“We have already condemned the film in the cabinet,” Abdullah told the 10-day autumn session of the state assembly which started here Monday.
