BSNL to roll out free national roaming service from June 15: R.S. Prasad

Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on Tuesday announced Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will offer free national roaming from June 15.

“From 15th June BSNL roaming will be free all over the nation,” Prasad said.

Last month, BSNL had slashed roaming tariff by up to 40 percent for its prepaid and postpaid mobile connection following a telecom tariff order issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). (ANI)

Sunanda Pushkar case: Bassi won’t consider intra-departmental misgivings

Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Tuesday declined to look into intra-departmental misgivings between anyone, as AIIMS director Dr. M. C. Mishra filed an affidavit before the Delhi High Court seeking to relieve head of the forensics department, Dr. Sudhir Gupta from his responsibilities.

“We are not looking into any intra-departmental misgivings between anyone unless it impacts our investigation. So, I am not going to comment upon any intra-departmental misgivings,” Bassi said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Gupta has asked for clarification over the stand of AIIMS faculty.

CII welcomes Repo Rate cut announced by RBI

The Confederation of India Industries (CII) on Tuesday welcomed the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) decision to cut the Repo Rate by 25 basis points, saying that the move reinforces the perception that the Central bank and the government are working to take the economy to a higher pedestal of growth.

CII Director General Chandrajit Banerjee, however, said that expectations were to reduce the rates by at least 50 bps.

Facebook has introduced a new feature where the site will now send PGP-encrypted emails alerting users about private messages, password changes, and other account notifications.

According to the Verge, some notifications that Facebook will send may be sensitive or involve a sensitive account while encryption will ensure no one can read the content of the messages without the key.

Users who wish to receive encrypted emails can upload a public key in the Contact Info section of the About page.

The Dawn quoted the former telephone operator of the ISI, as saying that his life is in danger as he lives in Karak District, which is close to the tribal areas.

Microsoft to acquire productivity app Wunderlist

Microsoft is set to acquire 6Wunderkinder GmbH, the Germany-based startup that created and develops Wunderlist for an amount between USD 100 million and USD 200 million.

According to the Verge, the deal has not been finalised as yet.

The deal represents Microsoft’s latest move to boost its mobile presence and cover all bases around productivity software.

Wunderlist has earned favourable reviews among Android, iOS, and Windows Phone users.

A day after a 21-year-old woman accused the driver of Uber taxi services of attempting to kiss her after she got off at her destination in Gurgaon, Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Tuesday assured prompt action and said that a few taxis have already been confiscated.
