A new study has revealed that unused mobile phones are actually squandering gold worth 100 million pounds in the UK.

Contracts that promote frequent upgrades, and a lack of effective recycling, have built up a mobile-phone mountain of an estimated 85 million handsets, the Independent reported.

Dr James Suckling of the University of Surrey said that each of these phones has been manufactured using precious metals such as gold, copper and silver, which are costly to extract, both in cash terms and environmental impact.

Archaeologists have discovered dazzling jewels from an Ethiopian grave that revealed the 2,000-year-old link to Rome.

Spectacular 2,000-year-old treasures from the Roman empire and the Aksumite kingdom, which ruled parts of north-east Africa for several centuries before 940AD, have been discovered by British archaeologists in northern Ethiopia, the Guardian reported.

Louise Schofield, a former British Museum curator, named one grave “Sleeping Beauty,” because the way the body and its grave goods had been positioned suggested that she had been beautiful and much-loved.

Pak police nabs 33 suspects over Quetta cops’ killings

Pakistan police has reportedly arrested 33 suspects during various raids launched in the aftermath of the killing of four policemen in Quetta, Balochistan.

A senior police official said that weapons and computers were seized from the suspects, who are being interrogated by investigators, reported the Dawn.

Police has refused to share the identity of those detained prior to the completion of the interrogation.

An FIR has also been registered against unknown assailants at Pashtoonabad police station. (ANI)

Quashing the earlier ruling, the Urgent Matters Appeals Court cited a lack of jurisdiction as the reason for annulling the decision. Manipur attack: Centre hands over probe to NIA

The Central government has handed over the probe into the Manipur ambush, which led to the death of 18 army personnel and injured 11 others, to the National Investigation Agency.
