Faldo opines Wood’s problems more mental than physical

Six times major champion Nick Faldo has opined that Tiger Wood’s slump on the golf course is a result of mental problems.

The former number one suffered his worst professional round as he slumped with a 13-over-par 85 on the third day of the Memorial Tournament in Ohio.

Faldo, who is now an analyst of the game, said that this has been ‘going on for a while’, Sport24 reported.

He said that for a golfer, the real problem begins when he fears the shot before hitting the ball, saying that this was the case with Woods and that’s why he was not comfortable.

Mass wedding held for differently-abled couples in Kanpur

Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur city yesterday witnessed a mass wedding of a different kind – one for the physically challenged.

Seven couples took their wedding vows during the mass wedding ceremony, which was organised by the Kanpur Handicap Association.

One of the brides, Manju, said the couples and their families are also pledging to plant trees on their wedding day in order to do their bit

to save the environment.

“My family members and I have taken an oath to plant 500 trees so that the earth remains green and we get pure air,” she said.

PM Modi chairs high-level meeting on irrigation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday chaired a high-level meet for the quick adoption of a multi-pronged strategy to augment the irrigation network in the country.

Ferrari boss keen to bring back F1 ‘refuelling’ methods

Ferrari chief Sergio Marchionne has advocated the idea of bringing back ‘refuelling’ methods despite opposition from the rival teams.

The teams had earlier ruled out this proposal following an investigation into refuelling returning, saying that it would have a negative impact on the game.

Marchionne said that although he does want it to return, he would reconsider if the findings were definitive, the BBC reported.

In an attempt to revamp the game, Marchionne suggested that refuelling might be the answer if combined with other possible changes such as freeing up tyre choice. (ANI)

Five people belonging to Hazara community killed in Quetta

At least five people belonging to the Hazara community have been killed in Quetta’s Bacha Khan Chowk area after

unknown assailants opened fire.

According to Dawn News, the police said that the assailants opened fire at two shops near Bacha Khan Chowk, the city’s commercial hub.

The police also said that four people died on the spot in the attack while the fourth one was rushed to the hospital and later succumbed to his injuries.

The assailants managed to escape from the scene after launching the act of targeted killing.

‘Deadly’ stroke ages your brain function by eight years

In a new study, scientists have found that stroke claims eight years worth of your brain function.

For the study, data from more than 4,900 black and white seniors over the age of 65 was analysed by a team from the University of Michigan and the VA Center for Clinical Management Research.

They zeroed in on the 7.5 percent of black study participants, and the 6.7 percent of white participants, who had no recent history of stroke, dementia or other cognitive issues, but who suffered a documented stroke within 12 years of their first survey and cognitive test in 1998.

Amazon pulls out copies of IS’ propaganda magazine Dabiq from site

Online retailer Amazon has now pulled out the copies of Islamic state’s English-language propaganda magazine “Dabiq” from its website.

According to BBC, four volumes of the product were available for sale earlier which has been now removed from the website.

The magazines were being sold in paperback form on Amazon in the UK, US, France, Germany, Italy and Spain.

The magazine can be downloaded for free on the internet.

US, UK more ‘reluctant’ to address climate change than China, says survey

The United States and the United Kingdom, although the two biggest emitters of greenhouse gases in the world, are more reluctant to address the problem of climate change as compared to countries like China, a survey has revealed.

International internet-based market research firm YouGov found that almost 17 percent people in the U.S. and seven percent in the U.K. did not “agree to any international agreement that addresses climate change,” reported The Independent.

When it comes to having an affair, it turns out friends and work colleagues are the top choices.

In a new survey by YouGov, one in five Brits has had an affair, with 20 percent of males and 19 percent of females admitting to it, while 43 percent claimed to have turned down the opportunity, reported the independent.

43 percent and 38 percent respondents said that their partner in crime was a friend and work buddy.

The poll of 1,660 people also showed that only half of those who had an affair went on to repeat the act, as claimed by 50 percent of the lot who admitted to the act.

FSSAI orders testing of other noodle brands

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has ordered testing of other food products like noodles, pastas and macaroni manufactured by companies including Nestle, ITC, among others, saying the safety of all other such products in these categories has not been assessed as per the Product Approval procedures.

“The various test results on Maggi and some other similar products have raised serious health concerns. It would be advisable to draw regulatory samples for similar products for which product approvals have been granted by FSSAI,” said a statement issued by the FSSAI.

A day of mourning is being observed across Singapore and Malaysia’s Sabah state for those killed in the 6.0-magnitude quake that struck Mount Kinabalu in Borneo.
