Researchers from Oberlin College and Trinity University published a study called “An Exploratory Investigation of Word Aversion,” which discovered that it wasn’t the actual sound of the word that made people shrink away, but the fact that most associate the word with “disgusting bodily functions,” E! Prime Minister Narendra Modi today called for a holistic approach towards meeting the target of ‘Housing for All’.

The Prime Minister, who chaired a high-level meeting to assess the work done so far, both in the rural and the urban areas, stressed on the need for all concerned official agencies to adopt a flexible approach, which takes into account local conditions such as building material, habits and lifestyles.

“A tribal may prefer a house made from traditional local materials rather than bricks and mortar; and therefore, should be facilitated accordingly,” he said.

Fake degree drama: Tomar’s interim bail plea rejected

Former Delhi law minister Jitender Singh Tomar’s interim bail plea was rejected by a city court on Thursday till the pendency of his application for regular bail.

According to reports, the court also rejected Tomar’s plea challenging his police remand in the fake degree case.

On Tuesday, a city court had sent Jitendra Singh Tomar to four-day’s police custody after being arrested in connection with the alleged fake degree case.

Lou Diamond set to play notorious L.A serial killer in ‘The Night Stalker’

Lou Diamond will play notorious Los Angeles serial killer named Richard Ramirez in the upcoming movie ‘ The Night Stalker. ‘

An indie drama from writer-director Megan Griffiths, would tell the tale of Ramirez’s notorious 1984-85 killing spree that earned him the moniker Night Stalker from the LA Times, Deadline.com reported.

Inspired by true events, the film will follow a lawyer who, in order to save another man from execution, attempts to evoke a confession from the aging Ramirez.

Koirala invites PM Modi to address donors’ conference in Kathmandu

Nepal Prime Minister Sushil Koirala on Thursday invited his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi to visit the country on June 25 to address the first donors’ conference being hosted in Kathmandu.

Prime Minister Koirala also briefed Prime Minister Modi on the steps his Government is taking for the rehabilitation and reconstruction in Nepal following the earthquakes in April and May.

He also mentioned that he has sent his Finance Minister, Ram Chandra Mahat, to Delhi with a personal invitation for Prime Minister Modi.

New York’s 1,330ft tall two World Trade Centre Tower set to open in 2020

A Danish architect has revealed the designs for the final tower at the World Trade Center in New York, which has been slated for the 2020 opening, nearly 20 years after the original terrorist attacks.

Bjarke Ingels said 2 World Trade Centre will be 80 storeys high and is designed to appear as seven separate boxes stacked on top of each other, the Mirror has reported.

M.I.A. plans to release new 3-Song mixtape, short film

M.I.A. recently took to her Instagram account and announced that she is all set to release a new three-song mixtape and a short film.

The 39-year-old uploaded a screenshot of an email to her label, adding the caption: “It’s real! here’s my press release you know that same time as my label, the Verge has reported.

The English recording artist also described it as “a piece of work that has no boundaries and transitions.”

Nepal landslide triggered by heavy rain kills 15

A landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in northeastern Nepal has reportedly killed 15 people and swept away a dozen homes in mountainous Taplejung district, a local government official said.

Assistant District Chief Surendra Kumar Bhattarai said that 10 others were injured while nearly 15, who were said to be inside the destroyed houses, were missing, reported The Express Tribune.

The landslide came just weeks after two powerful quakes hit the Himalayan nation, killing 8,700 people and destroying thousands of homes.

Government proposes to relax labour laws for contract workers hiring

To improve ease of doing business, government is proposing relaxed set of labour laws for hiring of contract workers with greater flexibility to companies and a proposal on this may soon be taken to the Cabinet.

“The proposal is ready and can be presented in the Cabinet very soon. And after that the related bill can be presented in the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament,” a Labour Ministry official said today.

The government is seeing labour law reforms as a key to create jobs and encourage investment, the official said.
