Actor Jesse Eisenberg is reportedly in talks to be part of film adaptation of comic book “Suicide Squad”.

“The Social Network” fame actor is said to play the role of Lex Luthor in the latest DC Comic film project for Warner Bros., reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Directed by David Ayer, “Suicide Squad” is said to release after “Man of Steel” sequel.

Assocham against revealing account holders abroad

Industry chamber Assocham Sunday said premature disclosure of names of Indians with allegedly illegal bank accounts abroad will hurt India’s battle against black money.

It said the confidentiality clause under the Double Taxation Avoidance Treaty (DTAT) comes in the way of making public the identity of the account holders.

“The double taxation avoidance treaties are important for Indian residents and corporates which can avoid paying taxes twice,” Assocham secretary general D.S. Rawat said in a statement.

25 killed in Syrian airstrikes

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Sunday said that 25 people were killed during Syrian airstrikes in Homs province.

About 18 people, including 10 kids and three women, were killed overnight in the city of Talbiseh, the UK-based watchdog group said.

It said that the toll is likely to escalate due to the critical condition of the injured, Xinhua reported.

Meanwhile, six men and a child were also killed late Saturday night during the shelling in the suburbs of al-Waer.

It said the Syrian air force has carried out 533 airstrikes on several cities in recent days.

Former England international Paul Gascoigne, popularly known as Gazza, is reportedly being supported by his ex-club, Tottenham Hotspur, after it was reported that he had been placed on an emergency three-day detox.

Newly found chemical compounds could lead to sleeping sickness cure

A new study has helped scientists indentify hundreds of chemical compounds that could provide cure for sleeping sickness.

Michael Pollastri, who runs Northeastern’s Laboratory for Neglected Disease Drug Discovery, and co-collaborators at the Spanish National Research Council for Scientific Research worked with global healthcare company GlaxoSmithKline to screen and test more than 42,000 chemical compounds against the parasites that cause sleeping sickness.

In the paper, researchers reported that they identified nearly 800 compounds that represent good options for early drug discovery.

A new research has observed that social networking site Twitter can be a useful tool for public health organizations but only if carefully monitored.

The study conducted at Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis suggested that public health organizations need to pay close attention to how they disseminate information, and also to the response the campaign gets.

Jenine Harris, PhD, assistant professor at the Brown School, said that twitter reaches groups not widely reached by traditional media and its use was growing in the U.S. and globally.

British ‘Islamic fighter’ killed in Syria

A young man from the British port city of Portsmouth who went to fight in Syria for the Islamic State (IS) terrorist group has been reportedly killed on the frontline in Syria.

Mehdi Hassan, 19, travelled to Syria with five other men from southern Portsmouth in October last year, media reported Saturday.

“It has been confirmed with the family that he has died. Right now they are very upset,” said Abdul Jalil, chairman of the Portsmouth Jami Mosque.

Most French voters not to back Hollande’s candidacy in 2017: Poll

Eight French voters out of 10 would not support French President Francois Hollande’s candidacy to seek a second mandate in 2017, a survey showed Saturday.

According to Odoxa poll published in the daily Le Parisien, the current occupant of the Elysee Palace collected just 15 percent of favourable votes, Xinhua reported. In the left wing parties, 28 percent of respondents want him to run in the 2017 presidential race.

Last April, the French head of state said he would not run for a second term if he could not deliver on the pledge to reverse a long running rise in unemployment.
