American actress Amy Poehler is in talks to star in a flick titled ‘ The House’ opposite her ‘Saturday Night Live’ star pal Will Ferrell.

New Line’s upcoming project directed by Andrew Cohen and scripted by Brendan O’Brien will be based on a underground gambling plot where the couple blows their daughter’s college fund and start a casino in their suburban basement to win back the money and their kid’s respect, Deadline.com has reported.

Reportedly, the shooting will start in August 2015 in L.A. for a summer 2016 release. (ANI)

This `miracle` drug offers new hope to many skin condition Psoriasis sufferers

A new study has revealed that a new drug can provide hope to thousands of sufferers of the skin condition psoriasis.

Trials of a new drug found 40 per cent of participants showed complete clearance of their plaques, while 90 per cent experienced some improvement.

The study, conducted at the University of Manchester, tested the effectiveness of the drug ixekizumab.

Half the participants were given the new drug, ixekizumab while the other half were given a placebo, or a widely used drug for psoriasis called etanercept.

A researcher at the University of Michigan has discovered how the brain of a fruit fly differentiates between the two. Because that molecular machinery is present in the guts and brains of humans on a larger scale, Monica Dus, assistant professor in the U-M Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology, believes human brains will differentiate in the same way.

Mini-breast grown in lab to aid in cancer research

In a biomedical first, researchers have grown a mini-breast in Petri dish that could provide a new tool for cancer research.

The research group, led by Christina Scheel, developed an assay whereby cultured human breast epithelial cells rebuild the three-dimensional tissue architecture of the mammary gland.

For this purpose, a transparent gel is used in which cells divide and spread, similar to the developing mammary gland during puberty. Specifically, cells divide and generate hollow ducts that form a network of branches and terminate in grape-like structures.

Prez condoles loss of lives due to ammonia leak in Punjab

President Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday condoled the loss of lives due to the ammonia gas leak at Doraha in Ludhiana and wished a speedy recovery to those hospitalized due to the tragedy.

President Mukherjee took to twitter to offer his condolences.

“Condolences to families of deceased and prayers for speedy recovery of hospitalized due to gas leak tragedy in Punjab,” the President of India’s office tweeted.

At least five people were killed and 100 others forced to seek treatment due to the deadly gas leak.

Dallas shootout: Suspect ‘snapped’ under personal pressure, says father

The man accused of attacking the Dallas Police headquarters with guns and explosives had ‘snapped’ under personal pressure, his father said.

He said that his son had ‘snapped’ after he was unable to get a job and was also let down by the legal system as he failed to get the custody of his son, but added that shooting a police station was not right in anyway, reported the BBC.

His mother, Jeannine Hammond, said that her son was mentally sick and had faced several charges, including attacking the family members.

The attacker had identified himself to authorities as James Boulware.

A ticket-holder, who scooped 93,388,943 pounds in the EuroMillions jackpot, has come forward to claim their prize.

Lottery operator Camelot has confirmed that the winner would soon receive the prize, which was the biggest in the UK this year and the sixth-biggest ever in the country, BBC News has reported.

The identity of the winner is still unknown, and they can choose to remain anonymous if they wish.

General Patton’s Colt .45 revolver fetches USD 75G at auction

A Colt .45 revolver, which was once owned by General George S. Patton has been sold for 75,000 dollars at an auction in Los Angeles.

The historical documents’ auction house, Profiles in History, which conducted the process, initially expected the Model 1873 single-action revolver to fetch over 60,000 dollars, Fox News has reported.

The revolver, which was acquired by the famous World War II general around 1928 until his death in 1945, had distinctive stag horn grip and is often considered to be a version of the General’s famous ivory-handled Colt. 45.
