Phil Collins claims J Lo`s Miami mansion for USD 42.6 M

Once owned by Jennifer Lopez, the Miami Beach mansion has now been sold to Phil Collins in a 42.6 million dollars deal that closed on June 16.
The 64-year-old singer bought the mansion from Mark Gainor, who nabbed the digs from the ‘Dance Again’ hit-maker in 2005 for 17.94 million dollars and renovated it for three years, reported News.com.au.

Standing mighty at 3,704 square meters, the mansion, which looks out to the Miami skyline, boasts of seven bedrooms, eight full bathrooms and three half-bathrooms.

Lalit Modi row: Youth Congress protests against Sushma, Raje in Kolkata

The Youth Congress workers staged a protest here on Wednesday and demanded the resignations of Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for their alleged links with former IPL chief Lalit Modi.

Carrying posters and banners which read “Remove Sushma and Vasundhara for unholy nexus with Lalit Modi” and “PM silent on Sushma-Lalit deal”, the protestors raised slogans against the BJP-led government at the Centre.

They also burnt the effigies of Swaraj and Lalit Modi.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has asked the Tamil Nadu Government to explain why Rs.25 thousand should not be paid as relief to the two girl students of Panchayat Union Middle School in Tirunelveli, who were made to clean toilet by the Head Mistress.

The Commission found that two girl students were the daughters of a sweeper who, on that particular day, had not turned up for the job because of which the Head Mistress asked her daughters to clean the toilet.

Sensex gains more than 160 points; auto stocks rise

With better-than-expected factory output and contained consumer and wholesale price indices buoying sentiments, a barometer index of the Indian equities markets gained by more than 160 points during trading on Monday.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) gained more than 160 points or 0.60 percent in the day’s trade.

The wider 50-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) also closed the day’s trade with marginal gains. It ended the day’s trade 31 points or 0.39 percent up at 8,013.90 points.

Sun TV up 6% on buzz MHA may review security clearance order

Shares of Sun TV Network settled with nearly 6% gains on Monday on reports that Home Ministry may review its decision to withdraw security clearance given to 33 channels of the company.

The stock surged 5.82% to end at Rs 303.80 on the BSE. During the day, it zoomed 12% to Rs 321.60.

At the NSE, shares of Sun TV settled at Rs 303.75, up 5.83% from its previous close.

The company’s market value rose by Rs 658.29 crore to Rs 11,972.29 crore.

On the volume front, 8 lakh shares of the company changed hands at the BSE and over 50 lakh shares were traded at the NSE during the day.

HDFC Q1 tax out go up 12% at Rs 465 crore`

Mortgage major HDFC reported 12% increase in its advance tax outgo to Rs 465 crore for the first quarter of the current fiscal.

HDFC paid Rs 465 crore, up 12.05%, from Rs 415 crore in the April-June quarter of 2014-15, company officials said.

For private sector lender Yes Bank, it was a 36% jump to Rs 170 crore from the year ago’s Rs 125 crore, banking sector sources said.

Advance tax payments is a system of staggered payments of income taxes across the year done on a quarterly basis.
