The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger reportedly flew his new girlfriend Melanie Hamrick 500 miles from New York to Ohio to join him on his gig.

Jagger ,71, paid for Hamrick’s flight from New York to Ohio just so she could watch him play at the Ohio Stadium in Columbus late last month, reported Contactmusic.

Jagger, whose relationship with the 28-year-old ballerina came to light last June, also organised a chauffeur-driven vehicle to transport the brunette beauty to his hotel following the performance.

90-year-old man, daughter-in-law found murdered in Delhi

In a case of double murder, a 92-year-old retired engineer and his 64-year-old daughter-in-law were found stabbed to death at their residence in central Delhi’s Patel Nagar this evening.

According to police, bodies of Sewa Ram and daughter- in-law Sasi were found around 6 PM by his son Sudhir.

The incident came to light when Sudhir, who works as an insurance agent, returned home and found the door locked from inside. He told the cops that he made several attempts to contact his wife after the house bell went unanswered.

Israel reprimands officer over beating of Palestinian: media

Israeli soldiers seen on video beating an unarmed Palestinian received punishment today ranging from confinement to base to a verbal rebuke, media reported.

Footage of Friday’s incident, at Jelazoun refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, showed troops striking the Palestinian civilian with their fists and a rifle butt.

The beating was accompanied by shouted obscenities as the detainee lay helpless on the ground.

AAP govt plans to ask Home Secy Dharam Pal to vacate office

Hardening its position, Delhi government is planning to ask Lt Governor-appointed Home Secretary Dharam Pal to immediately relinquish his post and vacate his office and threatened to take action if he does not follow the order.

Sources said that Delhi Home Minister Satyender Jain has written a letter, which may be sent to Dharam Pal tomorrow, in this regard.

In the letter, Jain has said that Pal must vacate his office on the fifth floor of Delhi Secretariat as he was “unauthorisedly” occupying it, they said.

17-year-old is ‘UK’s youngest ever suicide bomber’

A 17-year-old boy who left the UK to join the dreaded Islamic State terror group is believed to have become Britain’s youngest ever suicide bomber after he reportedly blew himself up in Iraq with militants posting pictures of him on social media.

Talha Asmal was one of four suicide bombers who attacked security forces near an oil refinery south of Baiji.

ISIS social media reports said Asmal, going by the name of Abu Yusuf al-Britani, had taken part in the attack.

His family, believed to be of Pakistani origin, said they were “devastated” at the news.

Pope Francis is looking for a global audience for his upcoming encyclical on the environment, saying today it’s meant for everyone, not just Catholics.

Francis engaged in some self-promotion during his weekly blessing, alerting the thousands of people in St Peter’s Square that his first solo encyclical is coming out on Thursday and inviting them to pay attention to environmental degradation around them.

“This encyclical is aimed at everyone: Let us pray that everyone can receive its message and grow in responsibility toward the common home that God has given us,” he said.

Trawling ban in Kerala to commence from midnight

The 47-day trawling ban will come into force in Kerala from midnight onwards.

Fisheries officials said all arrangements have been put in place to enforce the ban. Patrol boats will be deployed by the department to ensure that there are no violations.

Owners of trawling boats have been asked to dock their boats by midnight.

Even though the centre had decided to impose a uniform 61-day fishing ban from June 1, the state government had decided to allow its fishermen to operate till June 14 midnight.

Hamas demands release of hunger-striking prisoners

Palestinian militant group Hamas today called for the immediate release of hunger-striking prisoners held by Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Gaza’s former Hamas premier Ismail Haniya appealed for the release of Khadar Adnan, who was imprisoned without trial by Israel and has been refusing food for about 40 days.

He also called for the release of Islam Hamad, who has been held by Hamas’s rival in the West Bank and has been reportedly on hunger strike for 63 days.

Govt grants citizenship to 4300 refugees from Pak, Afghanistan

As a first step to grant Indian nationality to nearly two lakh refugees from neighbouring countries, the NDA government has given citizenship to around 4,300 Hindus and Sikhs from Pakistan and Afghanistan in one year.

During the entire tenure of UPA-II, the figure stood at 1,023.
The citizenship to these refugees have been given at the initiative of Home Minister Rajnath Singh following BJP’s declared policy that India is a “natural home for persecuted Hindus” who will be welcome to seek refuge.

Over 15,000 killed in Naxal violence since 1980: MHA

Over 15,000 people, including more than 3,000 security personnel, have been killed in Naxal violence in the last 35 years, an RTI query has revealed.

According to the Union Home Ministry, while 12,177 civilians have fallen prey to Left-Wing Extremism during this period, 3,125 security personnel, too, lost their lives tackling the Naxal menace.

Also, as many as 4,768 naxalites were killed by security forces between 1980 and May 31, 2015, an RTI query has revealed.

Man arrested for raping his mother in Ahmedabad

A man was arrested today for allegedly raping his 60-year-old mother in the Vatva area of the city, police said here.

“The police arrested a 29-year-old man today, for raping his 60-year-old mother last night at their residence,” Vatva police inspector P B Rana who is investigating the case, told PTI.

The accused, allegedly forced himself on his mother yesterday and raped her in the dark, the police official said, adding that the family hails from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Five-time jump in gold smuggling; seizure worth Rs 1,120 cr

There has been an unprecedented five-time jump in cases of gold smuggling in 2014-15 over 2012-13 during which yellow metal worth Rs 1,120 crore was seized, notwithstanding easing of curbs on its import.

What is worrying the revenue intelligence officials is that cases of the smuggling have not come down despite the legal import of gold into the country increasing significantly during the same period.

Airport clash: 4 CISF personnel arrested

Kerala Police today arrested four CISF personnel in connection with destruction of property during the June 10 clash at Karipur airport between central armed police personnel and Airports Authority of India officials, leading to the death of a jawan.

Kondotty Circle Inspector B Santosh, the Investigating Officer in the case, said the four were identified after review of CCTV footage of the incident.

The arrests followed a complaint by AAI with regard to damage to airport property.

Amended arbitration law to cut down costs, delays: Gowda

A string of amendments to the arbitration law to end delays and eliminate high costs in a bid to provide ease of doing business is being worked out by the government which is also finalising a national policy to cut down on litigation.

Initial plans to bring out an ordinance to quicken things was dropped and instead a draft of the amended law could come up shortly before the Cabinet so that it can be taken up in the Monsoon session of Parliament, according to Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda.

Coast Guard expects information soon on missing aircraft

The Indian Coast Guard is expecting some concrete information on its missing Dornier aircraft with a submarine joining the search operations, an officer said on Sunday.

The Coast Guard also refuted television reports of the aircraft being located under water.
“The submarine (INS Sindhudhavaj) has started its search in the area where the aircraft is suspected to have fallen,” a Coast Guard officer told IANS.

“Today, b late evening we should get some information on the missing aircraft. The television reports of locating the aircraft underwater are totally wrong,” he added.

BJP using Manjhi for Dalit votes: Anandraj Ambedkar

Anandraj Ambedkar, grandson of B R Ambedkar, today accused BJP of trying to use Bihar’s former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi to garner Dalit votes in the assembly elections.

He also said his outfit will consider entering the poll arena if it gets resourceful candidates locally.
Bihar is likely to go to polls in September/October.

Anandraj Ambedkar, who heads the Republican Sena, maintained that Bihar polls would be fought more on caste lines than developmental issues, as the BJP had failed to usher in “achche din” and people lost faith in its 2014 Lok Sabha election promise.
