Actress Kareena Kapoor Khan is quite “happy” to hear about the upcoming wedding of her ex-boyfriend Shahid Kapoor and says she might attend the D-day.

Kareena, 34, and the “Haider” star dated each other for three years before separating in 2007. The 34-year-old actor is getting married to a Delhi girl, Mira Rajput, soon.

“I was aware about his marriage. Shahid had told me he is getting married. I am happy. Marriage is a beautiful commitment and I wish him all the best,” Kareena told PTI in an interview.

CRPF jawan commits suicide in Chhattisgarh

A CRPF jawan allegedly committed suicide today by shooting himself with his service weapon at a paramilitary camp in Chhattisgarh’s insurgency-hit Bijapur district, police said.

Constable Pavitra Yadav (44) belonging to 168th battalion of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle early this morning, Bijapur Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Indira Kalyan Elesela said.

At the time of the incident, the jawan was on duty at the camp located beside old jail in the Bijapur town, he added.

WEF India summit to put spotlight on govt’s policies

The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) upcoming India summit, slated for November, is going to be an action-packed affair as policy makers and industry leaders are expected to deliberate strategic vision of the Modi-led BJP government.

“The theme of this year’s annual meeting would be strategic vision of the government and action on the ground at the same time,” WEF Managing Director Philipp Rosler told PTI.

Besides, the summit will focus on topics like developing 100 smart cities, inclusive growth, financial inclusion, renewable energy and tax reforms.

4 moderate tremors jolt Nepal

Four moderate earthquakes with magnitudes between 4 and 5.2 jolted Nepal early today, taking the total number of aftershocks to 320 after the devastating earthquake struck the country on April 25.

The first aftershock of 4.4 magnitude was recorded at 5:58 am (local time) with epicenter at Ramkot, 7 kilometers west of the capital Kathmandu.

The aftershock was strong enough to get people out of their houses.

6 killed in California balcony collapse during a party

A 21st-birthday party thrown by a group of visiting Irish college students turned tragic when the fifth-floor balcony they were crammed onto collapsed with a sharp crack, spilling them about 50 feet onto the pavement.

Six people were killed and seven seriously injured yesterday.

Police and fire and building officials were working to figure out why the small balcony broke loose from the stucco apartment house a couple of blocks from the campus of the University of California, Berkeley.

Actress Shruti Haasan, who is yet to be seen acting with her father Kamal Haasan, says that working with him would be “an honour” for her.

“Hopefully in the future we can work together. But it has to be something which would be good for both of us. And it would be my honour to work with my father,” said Shruti.

Mercury gradually rising after weekend relief

Delhiites are in for a warm day though mercury is expected to stay below the 40 degrees Celsius mark.

Minimum temperature settled at 26.2 degree Celsius which was two notches below normal.

According to MeT department, skies are likely to turn partly cloudy later in the day but no rains are expected.

Humidity level recorded till 8.30 AM this morning was 64 per cent.

An official of the department said that maximum temperature is expected to settle around 39 degree Celsius.

Auto-drivers on strike against cab aggregators, junked Hakim

The day-long statewide strike called by the Mumbai Autorickshaw-Taximen’s Union (MAU), the largest auto union in the city, began from midnight here demanding ouster of call center-operated Uber and Ola cabs besides revocation of Maharashtra government’s decision to scrap the Hakim panel on auto and taxi fares.

The Union has appealed to 15 lakh autorickshaw men across the state to join the stir, which may hit lakhs of commuters as it claims to have 95 per cent of the auto owners under its wing.

Surprise African newcomers Cameroon joined champions Japan in the last 16 of the Women’s World Cup after beating Switzerland 2-1 in their final Group C game.

Rupert Wyatt to direct ‘X-Men’ spin-Off ‘Gambit’

The “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” director Rupert Wyatt will helm the spin-off of the popular “X-Men” series, titled “Gambit” that stars Channing Tatum in the titular role.
