Deputy Chief Minister and incharge old city Mohammed Mahmood Ali announced construction of multi-storied parking from Salarjung Museum to Nayapul. while reviewing the matter along with municipal, electricity, water and law and order traffic officials, on Wednesday at camp Office, he directed zonal commissioner GHMC, South Zone Mr. Balasubramaniam Reddy, to conduct survey from Salarjung Museum to Naya pul, so that construction of parking lot could begin on war footing.

HC rules in favour of Maulana Akber Nizamuddin

Hyderabad High Court has directed Chief Executive Officer of Waqf Board to take measures to restore Maulana Syed Shah Akber Nizamuddin Husaini Saberi as mutavalli Dargah Hazrat Shah Khamoosh.

The court directed this on the basis of investigating officer’s report regarding the charges against him. Justice Ram Lingeshwar Rao had directed Waqf Board to act within a week however the Board did not acted upon the order even after 12 days, on which Maulana Akber Nizamuddin issued contempt of court notice.

Compulsion of Yoga and Surya Namaskar violation of constitution: Hamed Mohammed Khan

Ameer-e-Halqa, Jamat-e-Islami Hind, Telangana and Orissa, Mr. Hamed Mohammed Khan in a press note said that Indian Constitution had given complete freedom to all its citizens to practice their religion and culture. Besides it was also mentioned in the constitution that India would be a secular state. State would have no religion, government and government institutions would neither follow any religion nor would force anyone to do so. Hence using government resources and powers to strengthen or promote any particular religion or culture was against Indian constitution.

CGHS card beneficiaries who have not applied for plastic cards are requested to submit required documents at their respective Wellness Centres before June 30. A Vijay Kumar, Additional Director Central Govt. Health Scheme told this.

AP CM Chandrababu Naidu to unveil e-Pragati project in July

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will unveil the ‘e-Pragati’ initiative in Amaravati in July, changing the way services being delivered to citizens.

Palamu Express derails following blast

Palamau Express derailed this evening after suspected Maoists blew up a stretch of railway tracks in Latehar district but no casualty or injury was reported.

The engine and three coaches of the train going from Barkakana to Patna jumped the rails following the blast, Chhipadohar railway station master R P Bhagotia said.

However, there was no casualty or injury to any passenger due to the derailment, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Palamau Range) Saket Kumar Singh said.

AP CM assures tobacco farmers of state, Centre support

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu assured tobacco farmers today that the state and central governments as well as the Tobacco Board would not let them suffer any losses due to lack of demand.

Maha govt introduces self certification scheme for industries

In a major relief for industries in Maharashtra, the state government today announced a self certification scheme for adherence to various labour laws.

This measure will ensure simplicity in enforcing the 16 labour related laws, an official release said here this evening.

The step will benefit 35,000 industrial units and 27 lakh shops establishments.

The measure is aimed at ensuring ease of doing business in Maharashtra, it added.

Centre working for release of Indian fishermen in Lanka

The Centre today told the Madras High Court that it was working steadfastly in close cooperation with all relevant stakeholders for expeditious release and repatriation of Indian fishermen from Sri Lanka.

Counsel for the Deputy Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Prafulla Chandra submitted that whenever there were reports about arrest of Indian fishermen by the Sri Lankan navy, Indian officials from the High Commission of India in Colombo and consulate in Jaffna remained in touch with the fishermen. It had also extended all possible legal and consular assistance to them.

Boston bomber will get chance to break silence at sentencing

Boston Marathon bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev will get a chance to break his long silence when a judge formally imposes the death sentence recommended by a jury.

Tsarnaev’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for tomorrow in a Boston court.

More than 20 bombing victims are expected to give statements on how the attack has affected them. Tsarnaev will also be given a chance to speak.

Tsarnaev’s sentence has already been decided by the jury that recommended the death penalty. The judge is required to impose that sentence.

CCI slaps Rs 2.3 lakh fine on 2 Kerala-based film associations

Fair trade regulator CCI has imposed a total fine of Rs 2.30 lakh on two Kerala-based groupings of theatre owners and film distributors as well as on their office bearers for indulging in anti-competitive practices.

CCI decided to penalise Kerala Film Exhibitors Federation (KFEF) and Film Distributors Association, Kerala (FDA) after a detailed probe found them violating competition norms.

The two entities indulged in unfair business practices by controlling and limiting the distribution of movies to pre-determined release centres in Kerala through an agreement.

HC refers case of minor’s rapist to mediation centre

The Madras High Court today referred a case of a rapist, who was awarded seven years imprisonment by a trial court, to its mediation centre to settle the matter taking note of the future of the victim, now a mother of a child.

Justice P Devadass, holding that alternative dispute resolution such as mediation is now being used in criminal cases said “In fact, even in Islam, Hinduism and Christianity there are instances of solving the disputes in a non- belligerent manner. The result of it is very good because there is no victor, no vanquished.”

Punjab govt finalises blueprint for civic works

Punjab government today finalised the proposed blueprint for urban and rural mission which includes work on sewerage, water supply, sewerage treatment plant, cemented streets, and mechanised cleanliness system along other basic amenities.

Saudi confirms death penalties for murders of 4 French

Saudi Arabia’s Supreme Court has confirmed death sentences for two suspected Saudi Al-Qaeda members convicted of murdering four Frenchmen in 2007, a newspaper reported today.

They had been sentenced by a special “terrorism” tribunal in January of last year, in verdicts now upheld by the highest court, the Arryadh daily said.

The pair were convicted of shooting dead the French nationals — one of whom was a teenager — near the western city of Medina while they were on a desert excursion from their homes in the capital Riyadh.
