Written competitive exam will be held for recruitment on vacant posts of Assistant Executive Engineers in Transco, Genco in Telangana state. A mock test will be held for the candidates on Sunday June 28, from 2:30 to 4 pm, at Siasat Mahboob Husain Jigar Hall, opposite Ramakrishna Theatre, Abids for B.E/B.Tech, Electrical, Electronics, Civil, Mechanical branch candidates. Scrapping of rooster system for physically handicapped demanded

Telangana unemployed visually challenged Joint Action Committee has urged the government of Telangana to cancel the 6 point rooster system for reservations to physically handicap so that injustices done towards blind persons could be rectified. Committee leaders Messrs K Srinivas, Swami Nayak, Kashi and Viraraghu told that in a press conference here on Friday.

Snake venom worth 100 cr seized; 6 nabbed

Six persons were today arrested at Belakoba and snake venom worth about Rs 100 crore was seized from them.

The six persons were arrested by forest police personnel from Belakoba today, Sanjoy Datta, Ranger, Baikunthapur forest division, said.

The venom was seized from the persons who were on three motorcycles and it was probably being smuggled to Bhutan, he said.

It was stored in containers inside schoolbags which they were carrying, he said.

Scientists use venom to develop anti-venoms.

Nadda assures to take up the issue of autonomy for NEIGRIHMS

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today assured of taking up the issue of granting autonomy to North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Science (NEIGRIHMS) here, with the Centre.

The decision of granting autonomy would have to be taken by the central Cabinet and it would also require an Act of Parliament, Nadda told faculty members, medical students and staff after chairing the institute’s Governing Council.

Korean auto major Hyundai is gunning for the leadership position in the mass-market sports utility vehicle segment in India with its new model, Creta, which will be launched next month.

The company’s Indian arm, Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL), has invested Rs 1,000 crore on the development of its upcoming five-seater model. It will compete with the likes of Mahindra & Mahindra, Renault, Nissan, Ford and Tata Motors in the volume segment of SUVs.

Man under influence of alcohol commits suicide in UP

A 48-year-old man allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his room in Govind Nagar area here, police said today.

Haradaya Naryan, an alcoholic, was in an inebriated state last night when he went to his room and hanged himself from the ceiling. He was found hanging by his family members, they added.

On receiving information, the police rushed to the spot and recovered the body which has been sent for post-mortem.

Police is investigating into the matter, they added.

South Korea fears MERS may have spread to new hospital

South Korea today said it was closely monitoring a hospital in eastern Seoul over fears that hundreds of people there may have been exposed to the deadly MERS virus.

A 70-year-old woman who caught Middle East Respiratory Syndrome while visiting an infected relative in a different hospital was feared to have spread the virus to the new site.

“We are focusing our efforts in tracing contacts and isolating people who came close to this patient”, a senior health ministry official told journalists today.

US Secretary of State John Kerry was set today to try and seal a historic deal with Iran that would curb its nuclear programme in exchange for relief from painful sanctions.

But just days ahead of Tuesday’s deadline for Iran and six major powers to nail down the accord they hope will end a 13-year standoff, diplomats on both sides said Friday that major differences remain.

As a result, the June 30 target date may slip — if only for a few days — setting the stage after almost two years of hard bargaining for yet another bruising and lengthy round of talks.

Man kills mother, wife; arrested

A mentally unstable man has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother and wife in Bahbhni area, police said here today.

Santosh Kumar Dubey assaulted his mother Pranmati (60) and wife Sangita with a stick in Sawara village yesterday, it said.

While Pranmati died on the spot, Sangita succumbed to injuries at a hospital, police said.

Acting on the complaint of Santosh’s elder brother Azad, police lodged an FIR and arrested the accused.

French PM warns of more attacks after man decapitated

Prime Minister Manuel Valls warned today that France faced more attacks to come after a grisly killing in which a suspected Islamist pinned the severed head of his boss to the gates of a gas factory.

The alleged assailant, identified as 35-year-old married father-of-three Yassin Salhi, also caused an explosion by smashing his vehicle into the Air Products factory near France’s second city of Lyon.

MMRDA’s TDR sale may earn over Rs 150 crore

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which has put on the block around 30,000 sq metres of transfer of development rights (TDR), today said the sale will fetch over Rs 150 crore.

Nearly 30,000 sq metres, or 3.22 lakh sq ft, of TDR have been generated from slum rehabilitation projects at Nirlon and NESCO plots in suburban Goregaon and Ajgaonkar in suburban Jogeshwari, an MMRDA statement said here.

“The deal is expected to garner over Rs 153.98 crore,” it said.

Myanmar frees Bangladesh border guard: official

Myanmar released today a Bangladeshi border guard detained eight days ago during a rare exchange of gunfire between troops from the two countries, a Bangladeshi paramilitary officer said.

Abdur Razzak was handed over during a “flag meeting” of troops from the nations in the Myanmar border township of Maungdaw, a Bangladesh Border Guard spokesman said.

“Razzak was handed over to our representative team this afternoon. His belongings (including) uniform, submachine gun, ammunition etc have also been returned,” Major Abu Russell Siddiki told AFP.

China couples who buy children to face prosecution: report

Couples who buy abducted children in China will face criminal punishment under proposed laws that would remove their exemption from prosecution, reports said today, as authorities clamp down on the flourishing child trafficking industry.

More than 13,000 children were rescued by police in China last year, the China Daily said, with demand for stolen youngsters fuelled by a traditional preference for sons and a one-child limit for some couples.

Current law imposes harsh sentences for child trafficking, including the death penalty in certain cases.

German ambassador Michael Steiner was today of the view that the language row with HRD Ministry could have been avoided and handled slightly differently.

Steiner, who would be leaving India next week after ending his tenure as ambassador to New Delhi, said “this is one issue that could have been avoided. It could have been handled slightly differently.”

The ambassador was addressing a small gathering at his residence where a recipe book authored by his wife was launched.

Israel releases prominent Hamas official year after arrest

Israel today released a prominent Hamas leader in the West Bank, the Islamist group said, a year after his arrest along with hundreds of others following the killing of three Israeli teenagers.

Hamas says Hassan Yusef, who has spent years in Israeli jails and was elected to the Palestinian parliament in 2006 while in Israeli custody, has worked entirely in the political wing of the movement.

He is also known for having disowned his son after he worked as an informant for Israel’s Shin Bet internal security agency under the codename “The Green Prince”.
