Woman strangled by hijab in Go-kart

Sydney, April 10: A 27-year-old woman was killed after her hijab got entangled in a go-kart in an Australian town, a media report said Friday.

The accident was witnessed by the victim’s husband and children at Port Stephens Thursday, theherald.com.au reported.

Paramedics tried to save the woman but she was pronounced dead after she was flown to John Hunter Hospital by a rescue helicopter.

The woman, from Sydney, suffered severe neck and throat injuries in the accident at Port Stephens Go-Karts after her scarf became entangled while she was driving, the media report said.

Two jawans raped teen

Pune, April 10: TWO jawans of the Rajputana Rifles have been arrested for raping a 19- year- old girl in Pune on Wednesday.

The two armymen were arrested on Friday and a case has been registered against them, the police said.

The army personnel were nabbed after they continued to harass their victim after raping her.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening when the victim and her boyfriend were travelling on a motorbike near Chinchwad.

Jerusalem visit: Saudi cleric faces heat

Dubai, April 08: A prominent Saudi cleric stirred controversy after announcing on TV he intended to visit Jerusalem, while Israel replied by suggesting he apply for a visa from Jordan.

Riyadh-based Sheikh Mohamed al-Areefi announced on the satellite channel Iqraa that the next episode of his show would be about Palestine and that he intended to visit Jerusalem the following week to shoot there.

However, Areefi neither specified the exact date nor how he would enter Jerusalem since Saudi Arabia has no diplomatic ties with Israel and bans its citizens from entering the country.
