Nicole Kidman is reportedly “crushed” as her kids Connor and Isabella Cruise didn’t attend their grandfather’s funeral.

According to sources, the kids the 47-year-old Australian actress adopted with her former husband Tom Cruise, were not by her side at the funeral for Dr. Anthony Kidman, Radar Online reported.

Sources revealed that the ‘To Die For’ star must have been sad as her kids were nowhere in sight, especially at a time when she needed them.

How is Google paying tax but Facebook not: Delhi HC asks Centre

The Delhi High Court has questioned why Facebook Inc is not paying any service tax when Google is doing so and directed the Centre to file a ‘better affidavit’ on the issue.

“How is Google paying (service tax), but not Facebook? How is Facebook exempted? We are finding it difficult to understand,” a bench of justices Badar Durrez Ahmed and Siddharth Mridul said on Friday.

The bench also asked whether the government was ‘alive’ to the issues of sale of data by social medial sites as well as the service of targeted advertisement provided by them.

Asian Games: Indian men’s compound team wins gold; women settle for bronze

India earned their second gold medal in the 17th Asian Games after the men’s compound archery team bagged the yellow metal by getting the better of South Korea, here on saturday.

The Indian women’s compound team, meanwhile, settled for a bronze after beating Iran in the third-place play-off. The Indian men’s trio of Abhishek Verma, Rajat Chauhan and Sandeep Kumar eked out a narrow 227-225 victory over the hosts to give the country their second gold medal in eight days.

NCP releases list of 131 candidates; no nominee against Prithviraj Chavan

NCP on Friday released a list of 131 candidates for the October 15 Maharashtra Assembly polls, though it did not announce any nominee to contest against Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan in Karad South.

The party has fielded Pushpasen Sawant from Kudal in Sindhudurg district against Congress leader Narayan Rane.

Sawant is a former Congressman, who had quit the party after former Shiv Sena leader Rane joined it.

Meanwhile, the total number of nominations filed in Maharashtra till today is 3,044, officials said.

Tomorrow is the last date of filing of papers.

Sonam Kapoor and Pakistani sensation Fawad Khan-starrer “Khoobsurat” might not have minted Rs.100 crore in a week, but the Shashanka Ghosh directorial has managed to earn a profit, thanks to positive word-of-mouth, says its co-producer.

Anil Kapoor and his daughter Rhea had joined hands with Walt Disney Studios to co-produce “Khoobsurat”, a remake of the 1980 Rekha starrer “Khubsoorat”.

Made at a Rs.12 crore budget, it hit 800 domestic screens Sep 19.

In India, it has collected Rs.19.10 crore in one week.

Turkey deports 10 foreigners who wanted to join IS

Turkish authorities have arrested 10 foreigners, near the Syrian border, suspected of wanting to join the Islamic State (IS) and deported them to their countries of origin, the daily Hurriyet reported.

The deportees are five Chinese citizens, three Tajiks, a Russian and a German, who were stoppped Thursday by Turkish security forces in and around the town of Ceylanpinar, in the province of Sanliurfa bordering the Kurdish Syrian territory.

Delhi HC restrains IIPM from using MBA, BBA name for courses

The Delhi High Court Friday restrained the Indian Institute of Planning and Management (IIPM) from using terms such as “MBA , BBA or management course” for the courses it offers.

A division bench of Chief Justice G Rohini and Justice RS Endlaw directed the IIPM to prominently display on their website that they are not recognized by any statutory body or authority in India.

It also restrained the college from even calling itself management school, business school or B-school.

Maharashtra tells Bombay HC that it plans to review Right To Education Act policy

The Maharashtra government told the Bombay High Court on Friday, that it has plans to review its Right To Education Act (RTE) policy during the next academic year.

This was stated by Maharashtra government pleader Geeta Shastri before a bench of Justice A V Mohta and Justice F E Reis which was hearing a public interest litigation (PIL) filed by Anudanit Shiksha Bachao Samiti, an NGO, representing affected parents, whose children have not yet got admissions to schools under the RTE Act.

Two arrested in Jadavpur University molestation case

Two Jadavpur University students were arrested on Friday Saturday in connection to the alleged molestation of a woman student of the varsity last month, police said.

“Nikhil Das, a student of third year civil engineering and Sonu Kumar, of second year, mechanical engineering stream, were arrested Saturday at Lalbazar police headquarters at 6 pm,” Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) PK Ghosh told IANS.

Three year old girl allegedly raped by son of playschool owner in Delhi

In second such incident in the last couple of days, a three-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the son of the owner of a play school which she attended in West Delhi’s Hari Nagar area.

The incident came to light yesterday afternoon when the girl returned home unwell and complained of pain in her private parts. When her family took her to a private hospital, it was revealed that she was bleeding and had been sexually assaulted.

Running into over six minutes, the video is available on the ‘DDA Housing Scheme 2014’ page on its official website www.Dda.Org.In.

The video gives details, column by column, of the steps to be used in filling the form. It also elaborates on the precautions which could be taken while filling up the form, the urban body said.

Heavy rainfall in Bangalore

Heavy rainfall has flooded India’s tech hub Bangalore and disrupted normal life across the city Friday.

“Depression in the Bay of Bengal and formation of thick cloud owing to the southwest retreating monsoon triggered the downpour across the city and neighbourhood,” a senior weather official told IANS here.

A record 132 mm of rainfall has been recorded in Bangalore since Thursday.

Finally, RLD chief Ajit Singh vacates govt bungalow, yet to pay fine

After 118 days of unauthorised stay and a bitter stand-off with the government, former union Minister Ajit Singh on Friday finally vacated the 12 Tughlaq Road bungalow here.

Singh, who had resisted eviction and demanded that the government accommodation be converted into a memorial for his father former prime minister Charan Singh, handed over the bungalow to the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), according to a senior Urban Development Ministry.

The official said though Singh vacated the bungalow, he is yet to clear the penal rent for his unauthorised stay of 118 days.

Twitter CEO finally gets ‘verified account’

Twitter CEO Dick Costolo finally has a verified account, five years after joining the company.

The change appears to have happened very recently, judging by the list of accounts followed by the verified account.

As a general rule, employees at Twitter do not have verified accounts. In fact, those who previously had verified accounts actually lose the blue check mark once they join Twitter, The Mashable reported.

However, it’s unclear what prompted the change to Costolo’s account.

UN chief calls for end to hostilities in South Sudan

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Friday called for an immediate end to hostilities in South Sudan, saying “there cannot be a military solution to the conflict” in the world’s youngest country.

As Narendra Modi plunged into the crowd of fans on Friday to respond to their warm welcome of ‘Modi’ ‘Modi’ chants and placards greeting him with different messages outside his hotel, the Indian Prime Minister left the security officials here scurrying after him.

A special court in Bangalore will on Saturday pronounce the verdict in the 18-year-old Rs 66.65 crore disproportionate assets case against Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.

Amid palpable tension, the 65-year-old AIADMK chief set out from her Poes Garden residence at 8:40 am towards airport along with her close aide Sasikala Natarajan, another accused in the case, besides Ilavarasi and flew to Bangalore in a special aircraft.

The other accused in the case is Jayalalithaa’s disowned foster son VN Sudhakaran.
