Constable recruitment paper leak case solved: Delhi Police

During interrogation, the modus operandi of the syndicate emerged and it was learnt that they had leaked the question papers of several recruitment examinations which included the Constable recruitment paper.

“It was discovered that the ‘Procurers’ of the question papers have their sources in the printing presses. After the question papers are procured from the printing press, it is analyzed by the ‘Analyzers’ as to which exam the question paper is being printed for,” said Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Chand.

Sweet Sour Potato Roll

Ingredients

1. 2 multigrain atta rotis
2. 1 cup diced potatoes, boiled and sauteed lightly
3. 1tbsp tamarind pulp
4. 1tsp garlic paste
5. 1tbsp tomato ketchup
6. 1 green chilli, chopped
7. 1/2tsp jeera (cumin seeds)
8. Salt to taste
9. 2tsp honey mixed with vinegar
10.1tsp oregano or herb of your choice
11.1tbsp refined oil

Method:

1. In a pan, heat oil till it gives off smoke.
2. Add the jeera and as they splutter, toss in the potatoes. Saute for about a minute.
3. Then add the rest of the ingredients, except oregano, and toss till they are well combined.

Ingredients

1. 2 multigrain atta rotis
2. 1/2 cucumber, chopped
3. 1 tomato, diced
4. 1/2 carrot, parboiled & chopped
5. 1/2 beetroot, parboiled & chopped
6. 1/2 cabbage, julienned
7. 1 cup kabuli chana
8. 7tsp lemon juice
9. 7 cloves garlic
10.4tsp til (sesame seeds), roasted
11.6tsp olive oil
12.Salt to taste
13.Pinch of kali mirch (pepper)

Method:

1. Prepare the hummus in advance . soak kabuli chana overnight. In the morning, boil the chana with salt. Then drain . remember to keep some water for blending the mix later.

Forex reserves fall $1.4 bn to $314 bn

Falling for the fourth week in a row, India’s foreign exchange reserves fell by $1.415 billion to $314.181 billion in the week to September 26 on account of a hefty drop in non-US currency assets.

In the previous week, the reserves had fallen by $101.3 million to $315.596 billion. During the week to July 25, the reserves had touched $320.56 billion, a shade away from the life-time high of $320.79 billion recorded on September 2, 2011.

City of palaces Mysore is celebrating its famous 10-day Dasara festival in the absence of scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, who passed away last December in Bangalore.

For the first time in many years, the royal family was forced to place the royal sword on the golden throne on which the scion used to sit and conduct the festival rituals in the Amba Vilas Palace durbar since he succeeded his father and last Mysore Maharaja Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar in 1974.

10 people at ‘high risk’ of Ebola in Dallas

US health officials were monitoring 50 people for Ebola exposure, 10 of whom are at “high risk” of the disease after close contact with the first diagnosed American patient.

United States Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has identified 10 people who had contact with Thomas Eric Duncan, America’s first diagnosed case of Ebola.

CDC made contact with about 100 people that had possible contact with Duncan, and narrowed to 50 the list of people it needs to monitor daily.

George Clooney’s wife Amal Alamuddin has been labeled as the ‘new Kim Kardashian’ by a website which made the human rights lawyer famous overnight.

Alamuddin topped the ‘Barrister Hottie’ list that was compiled by the website Barrister Boyfriend which also mentioned during the wedding speeches, the Mirror reported.

Natalia Naish, founder of the site, compared the 36-year-old human rights lawyer, to reality TV star Kardashian after posting his views on Clooney’s wedding on her website.

French auto major Renault plans to enter new verticals, including used car business in India next year, besides launching two new models, to make its presence felt in the market which it sees as “the biggest challenge”.

UN condemns beheading of British aid worker by ISIS

Strongly condemning the “heinous and cowardly” murder of a British humanitarian aid worker by the Islamic State group, the UN Security Council today stressed that the terror outfit must be defeated.

Pune-educated Stanford professor wins US National Medal of Science

Thomas Kailath, a Pune educated Indian-American engineering professor at Stanford University, is one of the recipients of the US National Medal of Science announced by President Barack Obama.

Kailath is also a recipient of the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s high civilian awards and is a member of major science and engineering academies in India.

He received his BE (telecom) degree from the College of Engineering, Pune before getting his SM and ScD degrees in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

7 in 10 newlyweds don’t have sex on first night

It turns out that most of the British newlyweds don’t have sex on their first night.

According to a recent wedding survey by events company Chillisauce, 67 per cent of Brit couples don’t actually consummate their marriage on their wedding night, Metro.co.uk reported.

Out of the 5,000 people who responded to the survey, almost 80 percent of women who attended a wedding said they’d ‘hooked up’ with someone there, while 25 percent of people claimed to have met their partner at somebody else’s nuptials.

Man held for rape in Goa

A man from Hyderabad has been arrested for allegedly raping a woman in the city, police said today.

The accused identified as Mamillapalli Santoshkumar, now working in Goa, was arrested on Thursday for the incident of rape which had taken place around six months back here, police said.

The complaint lodged by the victim at Panaji police station on Wednesday states that she is six months pregnant.

Govt asks realty firm to focus on building homes for Low income group and EWS

Real estate developers should focus on addressing the housing demand of lower income group and economically weaker section, a senior government official said on Monday.

Addressing a real estate conference here, Ministry of Housing & Urban Poverty Alleviation Joint Secretary Karan Bir Singh Sidhu said that there is shortage of about 2 crore houses in the country, of which maximum exists for the EWS/LIG section of society.

“Organised real estate must address the demand of LIG and EWS,” he said at a conference organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.

OilMin sets up panel on delays in ONGC’s gas discovery

The Petroleum Ministry has set up a committee headed by DGH to inquire into the reasons for delay in developing gas discoveries in ONGC’s Krishna Godavari basin KG-D5 block.

The three-member committee will be headed by B N Talukar, Director General of Directorate General of Hydrocarbons, and will have the financial advisor and a director from the ministry.

The panel will inquire into delay in developing fields by Oil and Natural Gas Corp in the block KG-DWN-98/2 or KG-D5, and submit its report by end-October, sources said.

Now, Londoners can charge their phones in ‘green Solarboxes’

London has converted many of its red phones booths into green solar-powered phone charging stations.

The solarboxes are fitted with a roof-mounted solar panel and inside there is a variety of phone charging ports for a range of smartphone models, as well as a screen that displays ads, the Independent reported.

Harold Craston, who came up with this idea with Kirsty Kenny, said that he thought that there are 8,000 of the phone booth lying unused in London and they must be able to find a use for them.

Father of IS hostage appeals for his release

The 81-year-old father of the British journalist John Cantlie, who was captured by the Islamic State (IS) in Syria, Friday pleaded with the Sunni radical group to release his son.

In a nearly five minutes video, Paul Cantlie made the heartbreaking appeal sitting in a hospital bed. His voice was raucous as reports said he just underwent a throat surgery, Xinhua reported.

“As a family we experienced great relief seeing and hearing John and knowing that he is alive. This was followed by the feeling of despair and helplessness,” said Cantlie.
