A show-cause notice on Goshamahal BJP MLA Raja Singh for his alleged controversial comment to bar non-Hindus from participating in `Dandiya’ during Navaratri,

Raja Singh has asked police to clarify under what sections he has to give an explanation.

Singh’s statement was published in Hindi Milap daily and Telugu daily “Namasthe Telangana” which may create antagonism or hatred or ill-will between the religious groups leading to communal violence.

Sunny Leone’s special number ‘Devadas Breakup’ for ‘Current Theega’, has been made on a whopping budget of Rs.1.5 crore.

The song which has been dubbed in Telugu and Hindi will be released before the film.

The song, for the upcoming film “Current Theega”, has also been dubbed in Hindi.

“The item song is made on a budget of Rs.1.5 crore. It will reach audiences directly through national music and entertainment channels.

This is for the first time that almost a full song is released in Telugu and Hindi before the release of the film,” the production house said.

Police inaction drove Auto driver to court

A petition filed by one Dara Saraiah, an auto driver at Hasanparthy in Warangal district, was posted to Friday by Justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar.

Saraiah was complaining that no action was taken on a complaint filed by him against some police personnel who was picked up by some unidentified people in February this year and taken to Hyderabad.

He furthe alleged that police tortured him on charges that he has links with some Maoist leaders.

The complainant contended that though he had filed a police complaint on June 24, no action was initiated.

Blood Moon, the last lunar eclipse of year to occur today

A total lunar eclipse, the second and last one of the year will occur today but star gazers in India can only witness its last stage as moon will be below the horizon during most of the eclipse.

A total lunar eclipse is also known as a “blood moon” due to the coppery, reddish color the moon takes as it passes into Earth’s shadow.

“The eclipse of moon will begin at 1:43 PM IST when it will enter the penumbral shadow of the Earth. The totality of the eclipse will begin at 3:54 PM and end at 7:05 PM,” Director Nehru Planetarium, Nehru Centre Mumbai Arvind Paranjpye told PTI.

As the Indian Air Force (IAF) today celebrates its 82nd anniversary Prime Minister Narendra Modi has saluted IAF personnel.

“On Air Force Day, I salute our air force personnel. They are our pride and their bravery, commitment and dedication continues to inspire,” said Prime Minister Modi.

Air Force Day was officially observed for the first time on October 8, 1932, when it was an auxiliary air force of the British Indian Empire.

The Indian Air Force has 170,000 personnel and more than 1,400 aircraft. It is considered one of the leading air forces of world.

Andaman Sea experiences deep depression, intensifies into cyclone

The Andaman Sea experienced a deep depression and converted into a cyclone early on Wednesday morning.

MeT officials said the system is centered at around 80 kilometers south east of Long Island in northern Andaman as of 5.30 a.m., and is expected to make a landfall shortly before noon.

Later, it is expected to drift towards northern Andhra Pradesh and the Odisha coast, where a landfall may take place on Sunday.

It is crossing the coast could herald the onset of the North East Monsoon, even as the South West Monsoon recedes.

UN asks India, Pakistan resolve issues through talks

Amid escalation of ceasefire violations along the Line of Control, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has asked India and Pakistan to resolve their issues diplomatically and through dialogue.

“The Secretary-General would call on both countries to resolve their issues diplomatically and through discussions,” Mr. Ban’s spokesperson Stephane Dujarric told reporters on Tuesday in response to a question on whether the U.N. chief can play a role in bringing about peace between the two countries.

Dengue cases in Delhi reach 120

The total number of dengue cases in the national capital this year has crossed the 100 mark, with an increase of over 20 per cent in the last week alone.

A total of 120 cases had been reported in Delhi till October 4, while the figure stood at 98 till September 27, according to a report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation yesterday.

India has six million unreported dengue cases: Study

India has nearly 6 million more dengue cases than the official annual tally and costs the nation USD 1.11 billion, roughly the same India spends on its national space programme, according to a new study.

American and Indian researchers have calculated that the number of those suffering from the mosquito-borne disease is about 282 times higher than officially reported, according to the study published online on Tuesday in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.

Until now, the reported data indicated that there was an annual average of 20,000 laboratory confirmed cases.

‘Artificial Intelligence’ robots may be capable of all tasks

Researchers have produced a theoretical work on quantum mechanics that focused on using quantum computing to accelerate the machine learning, which will allow creation of much smarter and more creative robots than conventional ones.

According to researchers from The Complutense University of Madrid (UCM) and the University of Innsbruck (Austria), the work would come under a new discipline, called ‘quantum AI’, an area in which the company Google has started to invest millions of dollars via the creation of a specialized laboratory in collaboration with the NASA.

Sensex down 84 points in early trade on weak global cues

Falling for the third straight session, the benchmark BSE Sensex declined by another 84 points in early trade on Wednesday on persistent capital outflows amidst a weak global trend after the IMF trimmed its growth forecast.

The 30-share barometer, which had lost 358.54 points in the previous two sessions, fell by 84.16 points, or 0.32 per cent, to trade at fresh two—month low of 26,187.81.

Similarly, the National Stock Exchange index Nifty moved down by 25.70 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 7,826.70.

2,000 terrorists across LoC waiting to infiltrate: Army

More than 2,000 terrorists are waiting across the LoC in the Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) to infiltrate into the Indian territory, according to army estimates.

There are more than 2,000 terrorists hiding on the other side and are getting trained in the 20 terrorist camps there, army sources said here today.

The Army troops and other border guarding forces are keeping an eye on the situation and maintaining extra vigil to thwart any attempts by the terrorists to sneak into the Indian side, they said.

Godrej Properties adds new housing project in Mumbai

Realty firm Godrej Properties Ltd on Monday said it has entered into an agreement with a land owner to develop an affordable housing project near Mumbai.

The project will have 1.3 million sq ft of saleable area.

“Godrej Properties has entered into a development management agreement to develop a property situated in Badlapur, Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It will be developed as an affordable housing project,” Godrej Properties said in a statement.

Godrej Properties is the real estate arm of the Godrej Group.

Sterling Holiday to invest Rs 200cr; developing 3 new resorts

Sterling Holiday Resorts, a unit of Thomas Cook India, has said it will be investing about Rs 200 crore to refurbish the existing properties in the country.

“We have a capex of around Rs 200 crore for this fiscal and we have already spent 50 percent of it so far in refurbishing our existing properties,” Ramesh Ramanathan, Managing Director of the second-largest vacation ownership company in the country, told PTI.

Goldman exits Bangalore Four Season property

Global private equity major Goldman Sachs has sold its entire 73 percent stake in City View Bangalore Properties to a JV floated by Blackstone and realty player Embassy Group for an undisclosed amount, exiting the project after several failed attempts since 2012.

Consultant firm J Sagar Associates, which advised Goldman, confirmed the deal but provided no details. Neither Goldman nor other PE funds could be immediately reached for comments.

City View Bangalore is building a hotel under Canada’s Four Seasons brand besides apartments and offices in the garden city.

Mahindras to buy 51% in Peugeot Motocycles

Mahindra Two-Wheelers, a fringe player in the domestic market, Tuesday signed a pact to acquire 51 percent stake for euro 28 million (about 217 crore) in Peugeot Motocycles, part of the euro 54 billion French auto major PSA Group.

“Under the binding offer, Mahindra Two-Wheelers would infuse 15 million euros into Peugeot Motocycles to finance projects implemented through strategic partnership, and further sale of shares by PSA, which would allow us to take 51 percent stake in Peugeot Motocycles,” M&M executive director Pawan Goenka told reporters here.

Little India riots: Another Indian jailed for 14 months

A 23-year-old Indian national was today jailed for 14 months for damaging a bus during Little India riots last year, taking the number of Indians convicted in Singapore’s worst street violence in forty years to 21.

Chinnathambi Malesan was on his way to his dormitory on December 8 last year when he saw a crowd of rioters pelting projectiles near Race Course Road in the precinct of Little India.

Malesan joined the rioters and threw a palm-sized piece of concrete at the bus, the court heard.

Five members of a family who had been missing since one-and-a-half years, were found murdered and their bodies buried on the premises of a school yesteray, police said.
