Adult movie star and actress Sunny Leone, who is making her Telugu debut with “Current Theega”, has impressed everybody with her professionalism, says the film’s director G. Nageshwar Reddy.

“She was extremely punctual and professional. We were all surprised that she maintained professional attitude on sets throughout the course of the shoot,” Reddy told IANS.

Sunny plays a cameo of a school teacher in the film, which is the official remake of Tamil hit “Varutha Padatha Valibar Sangam”.

2 Indian-American to pay USD 380,000 to resolve fraud charges

Two Indian-American cardiologists will pay USD 380,000 to resolve allegations that they entered into fraudulent management agreements with a local hospital in exchange for referral of cardiology procedures and other healthcare services.

Satyabrata Chatterjee and Ashwini Anand of Kentucky, who jointly owned a physician group that provided cardiology services, have agreed to pay the sum to resolve allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by entering into sham management agreements with Saint Joseph Hospital in exchange for the referral of cardiology procedures.

Cairn India Q2 net profit dips 33% to Rs 2,278 crore

Cairn India Tuesday reported a 33 percent drop in its September quarter net profit on back of lower oil prices and production from its prime Rajasthan oilfield.

Net profit in July-September quarter fell to Rs 2,278 crore, or Rs 12.10 a share, from Rs 3,385 crore a year ago, or Rs 17.68 per share, Cairn said in a statement.

Revenue dipped 14 percent to Rs 3,982 crore “on account of lower volumes due to planned maintenance shutdown (at Rajasthan fields), realizations impacted by the softer global crude prices and higher profit petroleum tranche in Rajasthan.”

Vidarbha MLAs root for Nitin Gadkari as Maharashtra CM

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari did not appear to rule out his return to Maharashtra politics as 39 BJP MLAs met him at his residence here and demanded that he be made the state’s Chief Minister.

The MLAs — all from Vidarbha region — greeted Gadkari on his arrival here from New Delhi and urged him to become the Chief Minister.

Gadkari later told the electronic media that the MLAs who met him “have a lot of respect for me and they are requesting me to be the Chief Minister.

“The film minted Rs.7.8 crore worldwide in its opening weekend. Since most theatres in Visakhapatnam and a few neighbouring places still remain shut due to cyclone ‘Hudhud’, the film has lost big chunk of collections from these key areas,” trade analyst Trinath told IANS.

iPad app detects signs of glaucoma in Nepal patients

Using an iPad-based app, a team of researchers from the US has successfully detected early signs of glaucoma in nearly 200 patients in Nepal.

The results show promise for populations that have limited or no access to traditional eye care and certain ethnic groups that have a high risk of developing the disease, the researchers said.

Dengue cases in Delhi cross 200; rise of over 42 pc in one week

There has been an increase of over 42 per cent in dengue cases in the national capital in the past one week, taking the total number of cases reported this season to over 200.

A total of 225 cases has been reported in Delhi till October 18, while the figure stood at 158 till October 11, according to a report released by South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Monday.

Telugu actor Chaitanya Krishna, who has starred in Tamil film “Rowthiram” earlier in his career, hopes to find more work in the industry through his upcoming Tamil revenge drama “Porkuthirai”.

“I hope people will appreciate the film and offer me more work in Tamil. I’ve already worked in a Tamil film where I’ve played a villain, so I wish to work again in the language,” Chaitanya, who has decent command over his Tamil, told IANS.

As many as twelve idols of Jain Tirthankaras dating back to the 4th-5th century, have been found at Keesaragutta on the city outskirts.

“Twelve panchaloha (five metal) idols of the Jain Tirthankaras were unearthed during the course of conservation work on October 18, while the pathways were being laid between two temples near steps at a depth of one foot,” director of Archaeology and Museums (Telangana), B Srinivas, told reporters here.

Phone hacking scheme used to finance Mumbai attack: Report

Phone hackers in the US are bilking unsuspecting customers of billions of dollars every year through a scheme that was used to finance the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks, according to the New York Times.

In 2011, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and police in the Philippines arrested four men who used the scheme to make $2 million in fraudulent calls.

The revenue was directed to a Saudi Arabian militant group that US officials cited by the influential daily believe financed the 2008 Mumbai terrorist bombings.
