Mexican experts scour for 43 students’ bodies at dump near Cocula city

Experts with the Mexican Attorney General’s Office are scouring an area near the town of Cocula for the bodies of the 43 students who disappeared on September 26 near the city of Iguala.

The officials started working on Tuesday at the dump located in a hard-to-access zone about 10 km from Cocula and half an hour from Iguala, which is in the southern state of Guerrero.

The dump covers some 40 square meters, half of which shows signs of having been burned.

5 Bangladeshis arrested for illegally staying in India

Five Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for allegedly illegally staying in the country, police said on Wednesday.

A case was registered under the Foreigners Act against Maviya (40), Jasmine (21), Shakila (23) and two minors who were apprehended on in Mehmoodnagar locality.

They were illegally living in the country for last 10 years, police said, adding the family head, Manzur Alem, is in jail in West Bengal in a smuggling case.

Six children drowns in Bihar during Chhath preparations

Six boys drowned on Tuesday in a village pond, during the preparations of ‘Chhath puja’, wherein the Sun god is worshipped.

Reportedly, 12 children, aged between 10 and 12 years, unaccompanied by any guardians had entered the pond in Saharsa village to clean the banks, which is a common practice during the festival.

Out of the 12 children, six drowned and two are missing while remaining others managed to get out of the pond.

District Magistrate (DM) of Saharsa, Shashi Bhusan Kumar said that investigation into the unfortunate incident has been initiated.

‘India has more specialists than general practitioners’

Indians need general physicians to address a majority of their health problems but the country has more specialists than basic MBBS doctors, experts feel.

For a country which produces an average of 50,000 MBBS doctors each year, a majority 30,000 opt for speciality or super-speciality courses, Naresh Gupta of the cardiology department of the Maulana Azad Medical college said here.

He said, as compared to other countries, India had more number of specialists. Gupta said that the 398 medical colleges in India produce specialists in fields, which do not exist anywhere else.

Shakira to launch toy line

Pop star Shakira is working on a range of baby toys, which will go on sale next month.

The pregnant singer, who also has 21-month-old son Milan with boyfriend Gerard Pique, has teamed up with toy dealers Fisher-Price on the First Steps collection of baby products, and has co-developed six items.

Some of the products include a bouncer, which plays music, alphabet blocks and a musical soccer ball, reports contactmusic.com.

“I saw how important developmental milestones are and how toys can help babies reach them — including with my own son,” the pop star said in a statement.

Ingredients:

15 whole green chillies
2 tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp turmeric powder
2 tsp methi seeds
2 tsp amchoor
3 tsp red chilli powder
4 tsp saunf
Salt to taste
Oil

Procedure:

Wash the chillies thoroughly with water. Use a towel to wipe them properly so that no trace of water is left. The chillies must be absolutely water free.
Now, use a knife to slit the chillies vertically and removed the seeds.
Take a small mixer jar and grind the mustard, methi and saunf seeds coarsely. Add turmeric powder, chillie powder and salt. Mix well.

Actor Vijay, director Murugadoss sued for referring 2G case in ‘Kaththi’

Tamil actor Vijay, director A.R. Murugadoss and producers Lyca Production have been slapped with a defamation suit for making a reference to the 2G spectrum case in their recently released Tamil actioner “Kaththi”.

The defamation case was filed here Tuesday in the magistrate’s court.

According to complainant R. Ramasubramanian, a dialogue in the film suggested that corruption “had occurred” in the 2G spectrum case when the matter is still being heard in the court.

US unmanned spacecraft explodes shortly after launch

An unmanned spaceship operated by a private US firm exploded just minutes after its launch Tuesday, media reported.

The rocket blew up over the launch complex at Wallops Island, Virginia, Xinhua reported citin the NASA TV.

Orbital Sciences Corp., the contractor, said no one was believed to have been injured and the damage seems to be limited to the facilities.

TV footage showed flames rising into the sky. The cause of the explosion remains unclear.

The spaceship was supposed to be on its third cargo resupply mission to the International Space Station (ISS).

Cyclone Nilofar, developing in the Arabian Sea, would have mild affect in Rajasthan’s border districts of Barmer, Jalore and Jodhpur on its arrival later this week, a MeT official said on Tuesday.

The cyclone which was still away from Kutch in Gujarat was getting weak and wind speed was around 67 km per hour, Chief MeT Official B N Vishnoi told PTI here.

“During the Lok Sabha election campaign, the BJP leaders were declaring from the rooftops that the black money stashed abroad will be brought back within 100 days. CBI invokes anti-terror law in RSS worker murder case in Kerala

In a surprising move, the CBI on Tuesday invoked a stringent anti-terror law while registering a case in the murder of an RSS worker in Kannur district in Kerala which is alleged to be a fallout of a long-standing political rivalry between the CPI-M and RSS.

CBI registered the case against unknown people under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act besides various sections of IPC including murder and the Explosives Substance Act, agency sources said.

The Centre had issued a notification yesterday to the CBI for registering a case in the murder of the RSS worker on September one.

US court issues summons against Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan in 1984 riots case

A US court has issued summons against Bollywood star Amitabh Bachchan in an alleged human rights violation case filed by a Sikh rights group.

The US District Court here issued the summons on a complaint filed by New York-based Sikh for Justice (SFJ) and two alleged victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The victims Babu Singh Dukhiya is based in Delhi and Mohender Singh is based in California.

The court has directed Bachchan to respond in 21 days after he is served with the summons.

People flee as lava reaches Hawaiian village

Many residents of a Hawaiian village have fled their homes, threatended by the flow of lava from Kilauea Volcano, a media report said Tuesday.

People at Pahoa are running away as the lava from the volcano was about 70 yards from their homes, CNN reported.

Reports said the lava consumed fields and had flowed over fences.

The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory said Kilauea was still erupting at its summit and on the eastern side.

Burdwan blast: 29-year-old youth arrested from Nepal

A 29-year-old youth was arrested on Monday from Nepal in a joint operation by NIA, West Bengal and Nepal police in connection with the 2 October Burdwan blast, intelligence sources said.

Yusuf Saikh, a resident of Beldanga in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district, was picked up from Kakarbhitta in Nepal on Monday evening, the sources revealed. This is the first arrest abroad with regard to the blast in which militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) is purportedly involved.
