Govt seek Allahabad HC for snoopgate judge

Decisive to start a probe on Snoopgate, allegations that the Narendra Mod-led Gujarat government had mounted illegitimate surveillance on a woman architect, the Congress-led UPA government may soon approach the Allahabad High Court to seek the services of a sitting judge to head the commission of enquiry.

Dhananjaya Yashwant Chandrachud, the Chief Justice of the Allahabad HC will be requested to nominate a sitting judge from his court.

Woman commits suicide in Rashtrapati Bhavan premises

A woman committed suicide Friday within Rashtrapati Bhavan precincts by hanging herself from a ceiling fan, police said.

The official said that Sazia, 26, was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside a servant’s quarter allotted to her father around 5.30 a.m. Friday by her family members.

“She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead. No suicide note was recovered,” the official added.IANS

40 students fall ill after mid-day meal in Bihar

At least 40 children fell ill Friday after having their mid-day meal at a government school in Bihar’s Rohtas district, officials said. The students are now out of danger.

The children complained of uneasiness after the meals at Katar Middle School, and were admitted at a hospital, a district official said.

“All the children are now safe,” he said. “All of them, except two, were discharged after preliminary treatment at the hospital,” he added.

Samples of the meal have been collected by police for forensic examination.

Man held in Australia for rape, murder of child

Australian police have arrested a 23-year-old man for raping and murdering his two-year-old stepdaughter in a northeastern city of the country, local media reported Friday.

The attack took place April 18 when the man raped the child and punched her several times in the abdomen.

The incident occurred during 20 minutes of the mother’s absence from the house, police sources told local agency AAP.

The child was taken to a hospital in the city of Coffs Harbour, 530 km north of Sydney, where she died after three days.

The 30-scrip Sensitive Index (Sensex) of the S&P Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 22,493.59 points, was trading at 22,513.62 points in the pre-noon session, up 95.82 points or 0.43 percent from the previous day’s close at 22,417.80 points.

The Sensex touched a high of 22,575.62 points and a low of 22,433.55 points in trade.

Major carmakers, including Maruti Suzuki India, Toyota Kirloskar Motor and General Motors India, reported decline in domestic sales in April as demand continued to be subdued due to overall unfavourable macro-economic conditions.

Other manufacturers Hyundai Motor India Ltd, Honda Cars India and Ford, however, reported increase in April sales on the back of their new models.

The country’s largest car maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) reported 12.6 per cent decline in its April sales during the month at 79,119 units.

Extend Taliban ceasefire: Pakistani tribal council

A largely-attended tribal Jirga or council of elders has urged the Taliban insurgents and the security forces to extend their ceasefire and remove obstacles in the way of the fragile peace talks.

The council called by Jamaat-e-Islami in the northwestern city of Peshawar Thursday threw its weight behind the dialogue process in line with parliament resolutions, reported Xinhua.

The appeal came weeks after the Taliban ended their 40-day ceasefire April 10 and consequently, there has been a surge in terror attacks in the country.

Moms-to-be, take note! Yoga can reduce the risk of anxiety and depression in pregnant women, according to a first-of-its-kind UK study.

While it has long been assumed by medical professionals that yoga can help reduce stress levels in mothers, it had never been tested in a research setting, scientists said.

Researchers from Manchester and Newcastle Universities found that women who attended a yoga class a week for eight weeks had decreased anxiety scores compared to the control group who received normal antenatal treatment.

Ingredients:

5 Onions
5 Tomatoes
750gms Boneless mutton
½ tsp Turmeric powder
1 tsp Mustard seeds
1 tsp Kalonji (onion seeds)
5 Cloves
1 tsp saunf (fennel seeds)
1 tsp Red chili powder
2 tbsp Ginger
2 tbsp Garlic
½ cup Coriander (chopped)
8 Whole Red Chillies
1/2 cup
7 tbsp Mustard Oil
Salt (according to taste)

Procedure:

Chop onions and tomatoes.

Roast the whole spices separately. Grind them altogether.

Add the chopped ginger-garlic in a kadahi with heated oil in it. Add coarsely ground masala powder.

Keep stirring.
