A new phone has been developed that can be transformed from single screen to widescreen in an instant, making it the world’s first foldable smartphone.

PaperFold’s displays can be folded, detached and flipped to create different shapes and it can even be turned into a mini laptop, the Daily Star reported.

The device, which is developed by Canadian designers, is currently just a prototype, but can change smartphone design forever.

‘Most expensive’ flat in UK fetches 140 mln pounds

An apartment in London, which overlooks the famous Royal Park, has become the most expensive flat ever sold after an unknown buyer reportedly purchased it for a whopping 140 million dollars.

The 16,000 sq ft Penthouse D at One Hyde Park was sold by the CPC Group but they refused to comment on the sale price or reveal the Eastern European purchaser’s identity, the Daily Express reported.

The flat apparently has no internal walls, flooring or bathrooms, but after being furnished and restored by the buyer it will sell for around 175 million pounds. (ANI)

Riteish dedicates his first National Award to dad

Actor-producer Riteish Deshmukh is elated about receiving his first National Award for his second production venture “Yellow” and he has dedicated it to his late father Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Riteish’s second Marathi venture “Yellow” won the Special Jury and Special Mention awards at the 61st National Film Awards. He received the honour from President Pranab Mukherjee May 3 at the 61st National Film Awards ceremony here.

“My first National Award. This one is for my father. He would have been proud and said with a smile, ‘Well done beta’,” tweeted the son of the late minister.

Selena Gomez to sell house for $3.5 mn?

Singer Selena Gomez is reportedly planning to sell her mansion in Tarzana here for $3.495 million.

The 21-year-old purchased the property in 2011 for $2.75 million, but she’s set to make a profit after putting it on the market for $3.495 million, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

The house has six bedrooms, eight bathrooms, and a gym, according to The Agency, a real estate company.

North Korea releases report detailing list of ‘human rights abuses’ in US

North Korea has reportedly released a report listing human rights abuses in the US.

A news article titled “News Analysis on Poor Human Rights Records in US,” was released by the official Korean Central News Agency on Wednesday.

According to FOX News, the article discusses racial discrimination, unemployment and poverty and refers to the US as “the world’s worst human right abuser and tundra of a human being’s rights to existence”.

Obama gets serious as he goes through jokes

President Barack Obama’s former chief speechwriter, Jon Favreau revealed that president got serious as he went through one of the jokes.

Favreau, who recently appeared on Open Mike with Mike Allen said that in 2011, Jon Lovett, David Axelrod and him were about to go into the Oval office on the day of the correspondents’ dinner to do one more last run through, Politico reported.

Shri Govindaraja Textiles to relocate operations in US, invest USD 40 million

A Tamil Nadu-based textile company has announced to invest USD 40 million in the US state of North Carolina for relocation of its operations which would create as many as 84 new jobs in the next two years.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory announced yesterday that Shri Govindaraja Textiles (SGT), which is a part of the Jayavilas Group in Aruppukottai, Tamil Nadu, will be locating its textile operations in Rockingham County.

“With a strong labour force and proximity to cotton- growing regions and ports, Shri Govindaraja Textiles will succeed in North Carolina,” he said in a statement.

Chernobyl’s birds adapting to low-levels of radiation

A new research has suggested that birds can adapt to the low-levels of radiation found near Chernobyl, where the catastrophic nuclear disaster took place in 1986.

According to the Verge, while going through previous studies, scientists found that birds near the Japanese Fukushima reactor that experienced a meltdown in 2011 had less chances of survival than Chernobyl’s birds, since they probably had more time to adapt.

To test out their theory, scientists collected blood samples and feathers from different bird species in both low and high-radiation that persists around Chernobyl.

TDP accuses YSRC chief Jagan Mohan Reddy of violating poll code

Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Saturday alleged that YSR Congress Party president Jaganmohan Reddy violated the model code of conduct by stretching his road show beyond stipulated time limit at Mylavaram town in Krishna district.

Deutsche MF India launches new fixed maturity plans

Deutsche Asset Management India has launched two-year close-ended debt funds called DWS Fixed Maturity Plan (FMP) Series 68 and 69.

While subscription to the new fund offer of DWS FMP- Series 68 begins from May 2 till May 12, it would be May 9 till May 19 for Series-69, according to a company release issued here today.

“The objective of the above schemes is to generate income by investing in debt and money market instruments maturing on or before the date of the maturity of the scheme. The schemes will invest predominantly in non convertible debentures (NCD),” it said.

Gold, silver surge on wedding season buying, global cues

Gold staged a strong recovery Saturday by surging Rs 320 to Rs 30,710 per 10 grams in the national capital on emergence of buying by stockists to meet the ongoing wedding season demand amid a firming trend overseas.

Silver also snapped its three-day falling streak and spurted by Rs 1,050 to Rs 42,700 per kg on increased offtake by industrial units and coin makers. The white metal had lost Rs 1,750 in the previous three sessions.

Traders attributed the rebound in precious metals to buying by stockists for the ongoing wedding season demand.

Vine.co adds new features in ‘YouTube’ like makeover

Video sharing app Vine has revamped its desktop website with new look and features, making it a bit similar to YouTube.

Vine has added a featured section that includes Editors Picks, playlists, and special featured videos.

According to TechCrunch, Now users don’t have to be logged in to Vine on the web to surf through these channels or featured Vine videos.

This may be a step to get closer to be a YouTube competitor.

Snapchat adds text messages, video calls in new update

Photo sharing app Snapchat has reportedly added new features which allows users to chat and make video calls.

According to CNET, the new update lets users chat with others for as long as they like, but as soon as they leave the chat screen, the entire conversation is wiped.

However, there is a feature which lets users save the conversation with screenshot, or tapping on chat to save it.

Snapchat, with its new update, now stands against messaging apps like whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, WeChat and more.
