Aam Aadmi Party’s Amethi candidate Kumar Vishwas had protested after his family members were asked to leave the constituency ahead of polling on May 7, accusing the administration of being biased and favouring his Congress rival Rahul Gandhi.

NEC, NTT Docomo to conduct trials on 5G technologies

apan-based companies NEC Corporation and NTT Docomo have tied up to jointly conduct trials for fifth generation (5G) technologies.

NTT Docomo is also working with Finnish telecom giant Nokia for research on 5G.

“NEC Corporation has reached an agreement with NTT Docomo to jointly conduct trials aimed at the practical use of technologies for a 5th-generation mobile communication standard (5G),” NEC Corporation said in a statement.

Sun emits M5.2-class solar flare

Sun emitted a M5.2-class flare that peaked at 6:07 a.m. EDT on May 8, 2014.

Woman arrested for throwing mobile on judge

A middle-aged woman was arrested from the Patna civil court premises today after she threw a cell phone at district judge Birendra Kumar.
Police officials said Rita Singh of Alauddin Chowk of Sonepur in Saran district had filed a bail-cancellation plea against her in-laws in the court. She had been coming here for the last one week in this regard, and became angry when the district judge dismissed her petition.

“The district judge ducked as she threw the mobile phone. It went on to hit the bench or desk placed in front of him,” said a source.

According to the study, the stress of constant arguments with family, friends and neighbours can triple the risk, the Daily Express reported.

Doctor Rikke Lund, of the University of Copenhagen, said that men seemed particularly vulnerable to the worries and demands generated by their female partners and can die from being nagged.

A US man, who has been arrested for killing his wife and parrot , has revealed that he shot them because he couldn’t handle their constant rabble.

Penton, from Huntsville, Alabama, US, also shot his three dogs and threatened his ex-boss, wife’s ex-husband and step kids in a violent spree, which was sparked by a text sent from his wife, the Daily Star reported.

According to the investigators, the text from her wife to a friend of hers complained that Penton had been home for a few minutes and was already talking “crap”.

The northeast, which has over the years produced many talents, has added another feather to its cap through Maisnam Meiraba Luwang, who has created history by becoming the first Manipuri badminton player to win two medals at a championship held in Denmark recently.

A budding player from Imphal West district in Manipur, 13-year-old Meiraba recently won two international and one national championship in Badminton.

Born to Meisnam Ramesh Luwang and Ratna Devi, Meiraba is the only international badminton player from Manipur. He is currently studying in class VIII.

China warns Vietnam to withdraw ships from disputed South China Sea

China has warned Vietnam to withdraw its ships from the disputed South China Sea, after vessels from the two sides collided in a confrontation.

Vietnam has accused China of massing 80 vessels, including navy ships, to back an operation to drill for oil off the disputed Paracel islands.

According to the BBC, it also released video footage to back its claim that Chinese ships had rammed Vietnamese vessels.

A foreign ministry official in Beijing said the Vietnamese patrol ships had collided deliberately, the report said.

Delhi HC refuses to block AirAsia’s operating permit

The Delhi High Court Friday refused to suspend the air operator’s permit (AOP) granted to AirAsia for flying in India.

The high court order came on a plea filed by the Federation of Indian Airlines (FIA) against the decision of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Wednesday to grant the operational permit to AirAsia.

A division bench of Chief Justice G. Rohini and Justice Pradeep Nandrajog disposed of the plea while denying any relief to FIA and said there is no urgency in the case.

Kerala on high alert over MERS

The Kerala health department is on high alert after increasing number of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) cases were reported in Saudi Arabia.

MERS is a viral respiratory illness caused by a coronavirus called MERS-CoV and was first reported in Saudi Arabia September 2012.

According to media reports, till date, 126 people have died due to the disease and 18 new cases have been recorded.

Twenty-five percent of more than three million Keralites who work abroad are in Saudi Arabia.

Chocolate badam lassi

Ingredients:

250 gms curd
100 gms sweetened dark chocolate
Roasted and coarsely ground almonds
½ glass water

Procedure:

Hang the curd overnight so that all the water gets strained. Use a double boiler to met the chocolate and add it to the curd. Now add 1/3 glass water.
Mix thoroughly.
Now add the coarsely ground almonds and serve.

Fried Egg Sandwich

2 teaspoons butter
4 eggs
4 slices processed American cheese
8 slices toasted white bread
Salt and pepper to taste
2 tablespoons mayonnaise
2 tablespoons ketchup

Procedure:

Melt butter in a skillet over medium high heat.
Crack eggs in pan and cook to desired firmness.
Place a slice of cheese over each egg just before it is cooked.
Place each egg on a toasted slice of bread after cheese has melted.
Season the eggs with salt and pepper.

Air India saved over Rs 1,400 crore on fuel costs over 6 years: Officials

Air India is estimated to have saved over Rs 1,400 crore on fuel costs over six years by phasing out fuel-guzzling aircraft and undertaking innovative measures like flying planes at a particular cruise altitude and speed.

“The fuel savings which Air India has been able to achieve from September 2008 to March 2014 is nearly Rs 1,400 crore which approximated seven per cent saving over the benchmark year (2008) on a cumulative basis,” top airline officials said.

Air India’s aviation fuel cost comprises about 38 per cent of the total expenditure.
