Kerry Cronin, a lecturer at Boston College, was apparently disappointed by the internet’s destructive effect on her students’ social skills and was prompted to take this measure, Metro.c.uk reported.

However, the Cronin dates’ are not allowed to involve kissing, sex or even alcohol. (ANI)

NASA orbiter captures new crater on Red Planet

Researchers have discovered the largest fresh meteor-impact crater on Mars, NASA said in a statement.

The before-and-after images of the crater were captured by NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO).

The crater is half the size of a football ground and first appeared in March 2012, the US space agency said.

It was captured by the orbiter’s weather-monitoring camera, the Mars Color Imager (MARCI).

RIL denies ONGC allegations of gas pilferage

Reliance Industries today hit out at Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) for suing it over KG gas dispute, saying some elements in the state-owned firm may be “misleading” the chairman D K Sarraf to hide their failure in developing the discoveries made over 13 years.

ONGC had on May 15 moved the Delhi High Court alleging that RIL may have drawn natural gas worth thousands of crores of rupees from its fields that sit next to Mukesh Ambani-run firm’s KG-D6 block Krishna Godavari basin.

DLF raises Rs 525 cr via securities backed by Delhi retail mall

Realty giant DLF on friday said it has raised Rs 525 crore through debt instruments backed by a luxury shopping mall in the national capital, marking the country’s first commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) offering.

India’s largest realty firm DLF had announced in October 2013 a plan to raise about Rs 1,000 crore through issue of securities backed by mortgage of two retail assets as part of strategy to replace costlier debt, which stood at Rs 17,400 crore two months back.

Astronaut sows first fresh vegetable in ISS` space `garden`

NASA last week announced that it has activated a plant growth system on the International Space Station.

The Veggie chamber in space garden provides lighting and nutrients for seeds but relies on cabin conditions for temperature control and carbon dioxide, and astronauts have to water it, New Scientist reported.

On May 8, NASA astronaut Steve Swanson turned on the system’s LED lights and put six plant “pillows” inside the chamber.

Meet the dogs who made emergency medical calls after chewing owner’s pills

Two French bulldogs started a medical emergency after chewing through their owner’s prescription pills and chomping on a St John medic alert panic button.

The dogs, Stella and Stuart, had pills in their mouth and had activated the panic button 12 times by the time the paramedics arrived at the Orewa house north of Auckland, Stuff.co.nz reported.

The dogs were given an intestinal absorbent to try and mop up any drugs left over and their blood test showed that they were both doing well. (ANI)

In a bid to retain doctors, Health Minister revised pay scale

In an attempt to retain doctors and attract more specialists to government hospitals, the health department is planning a considerable hike in their salaries.

Health Minister U T Khader while addressing a press conference in Bangalore, said the department has proposed to increase the salaries of MBBS doctors from present Rs 40,000 to Rs 60,000 per month and that of post-graduate (PG) doctors from present Rs 60,000 to Rs 1.25 lakh per month.

The proposal has been sent to the finance department and will soon be placed before the cabinet for approval, Khader said.
