Archaeologists have discovered what could be remains of the earliest false tooth found in Western Europe.

The dental implant comes from the richly-furnished timber burial chamber of an Iron Age woman that was excavated in Le Chene, northern France, the BBC reported.

The woman, who was between 20 and 30 years old when she died, had an iron pin in place of an upper incisor tooth.

It is possible the pin once held a false tooth made from either wood or bone, which could have rotted away.

Once the world’s heaviest human, Manuel Uribe, has died at the age of 48 in Mexico, medical officials said.

As per Preliminary reports, Manuel Uribe died due to an irregular heartbeat and an ailment linked to the loss of fluids in his legs, an official at the University Hospital in the northern city of Monterrey said.

He had trimmed down to 867 pounds, Contactmusic reported after he was listed as the world’s heaviest human by the Guinness World Records in 2007.

Officials used a crane to move him from his home in the town of San Nicolas de los Garza because he could not walk.

2 killed as bus falls into ditch

Twelve people were today killed and 20 others injured when a bus fell into the ditch near Uchasiya village in the district.

The bus carrying about 96 passengers was going from Bahraich to Delhi when the mishap took place on National Highway 24, police said.

The injured were rushed to a hospital where 12 died during treatment while the condition of 10 others was stated to be serious.PTI

MBA student arrested in false MMS case

An MBA student from Bhatkal, residing in Vasanthnagar in a rented house was arrested by the Cyber police on the charge of allegedly circulating anti-modi MMS here on May 25.

The 24 year old accused, Syed Waqas was working as an intern in a private company was staying in Bangalore along with four of his friends who are pursuing MBA and CA courses. Though Osama Alamgar, Rehmatulah, Saad Kola and Mushahid were released after questioning, Waqas was taken to Belgaum for further investigation.

Amway India CEO detained, sent to prison in AP

William Scott Pinckney, The Amway India CEO, , was arrested by the Kurnool police on the charge of cheating and fraud, was remanded in judicial custody till June 10 by a magistrate court at Dhone in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.

William Scott Pinckney’s petition for bail has been rejected.

Pinckney was detained by a special team from Kurnool in Gurgaon, Haryana, and was shifted to Kurnool on a transit warrant. During the period of custody, he will be held in the Kadapa central prison.

Ananth Kumar: Man known for political adroitness

Toyota launches all new Corolla Altis priced at Rs 11.99 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Tuesday launched an all new version of its premium sedan Corolla Altis priced between Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 16.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The vehicle was unveiled in February at the Auto Expo 2014 and is the 11th generation of the Corolla model. It will have five grades in petrol, priced between Rs 11.99 lakh and Rs 16.89 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Also, there are four grades in diesel, which are priced between Rs 13.07 lakh and Rs 16.68 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the company said in a statement.

Net capital inflows to India to rise sharply in FY’15: Nomura

The net capital inflows to India are likely to increase sharply in FY’15, buoyed by the historic victory of the BJP-led NDA headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, says a Nomura report.

According to the global financial services firm, this historic victory has enthused investor confidence that the government will pursue reforms and policies that will put India back on high growth trajectory over the medium term.

“We expect a USD 25 billion balance of payments surplus in FY’15,” Nomura said in a research note.

Gold at fresh 10-month low of Rs 28,100 on stockists selling

Tipu Sultan, the 18th-century Mysore ruler’s gold ring was sold at a price of £140,500 (Rs. 1.42 crore) by the Christie’s auction house for a much higher price than estimated on May 22.

The ring weighing 41.2 gm has the name ‘Ram’ inscribed on it in Devnagari script. The ring is said to have been taken off from Tipu Sultan’s finger after his death in the Fourth Anglo-Mysore War by Duke of Wellington Arthur Welleslley.

“Her (Twinkle) luck factor has always worked for me. She has supported me in all my decisions and has always been there. She doesn’t read the scripts that I am offered,” Akshay said in an interview here.
