Prince Harry is currently hoping to win back his on-off girlfriend Cressida Bonas during a romantic Devon holiday.

Sources have revealed that the 29-year-old Prince recently made the plan while making dinner for his girlfriend, with whom he recently broke up, at Kensington Palace last week, the Daily Star reported.

Harry invited her to take a short break later so they can talk about their future.

Insiders claimed that the younger brother of Prince William is confident that he can win his 25-year-old girlfriend back.

Sensex up 70 pts in early trade ahead of RBI policy meet

The benchmark BSE Sensex rose over 70 points in early trade today as funds and investors made fresh buying ahead of the RBI’s bi-monthly policy review.

The 30-share barometer gained 70.89 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 24,755.74 with stocks of consumer durables, metals, IT, realty, oil and gas and power sectors leading the rise.

The Sensex had gained 467.51 points in the previous session on the back of slight improvement in HSBC Indian Manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index (PMI), a measure of factory production in May.

HM makes interim payment to workers

India’s oldest carmaker Hindustan Motors, which declared suspension of work at its Uttarpara plant on May 24, on Monday made an interim payment to workers.

The company paid Rs 7,000 each to around 2,500 workers with the total outgo touching Rs 1.8 crore, sources in Hindustan Motors said.

The money was credited to the bank accounts of workers, they said.

The sources said that the company had to arrange funds since there was no cash earnings as sale of Ambassador cars had dwindled resulting in zero production of the iconic brand.

Gopinath Munde killed in Delhi road accident

Union Rural Development Minister Gopinath Munde Tuesday died in a car accident here, doctors said.

“On his arrival to the AIIMS trauma centre, there was no spontaneous breathing, no blood pressure, no pulse and there was no cardiac activity. So immediately CPR (Cardiopulmonary resuscitation) was started and continued for the next 15 minutes.

“Despite all aggressive resuscitative measures, he could not be revived and has been declared dead at 7.20 a.m. Immediately the CPR was started and was continued for the next 50 minutes,” an AIIMS doctor told media.

Star set to swallow two exoplanets in 130 million and 155 million years

Astronomers have said that the planets Kepler-56b and Kepler-56c are going to be swallowed by their star in a short time by astronomical standards.

Their ends will come in 130 million and 155 million years, respectively.

Lead author Gongjie Li of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), said as far as they know, this is the first time two known exoplanets in a single system have a predicted “time of death.”

Four killed in Pakistan roadside blast

At least four people were killed and three injured Tuesday in an explosion in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) of Pakistan, a media report said.

The victims were travelling from Khurram region near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and were inside a vehicle when the explosion occurred, Dawn online reported. IANS

Extremely saddened by Munde’s death: Modi

Gopinath Munde was “a true mass leader”, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was “extremely saddened and shocked” by the union minister’s death.

“My tributes to a dynamic leader whose premature demise leaves a void hard to fill,” tweeted Modi.

Munde died in a car accident in Delhi early Tuesday.

Modi said in another tweet: “Gopinath Munde ji was a true mass leader. Hailing from backward sections of society, he rose to great heights & tirelessly served people.”

Yellow metal continues to be submerged

RBI permits foreign exchange proprietary trades by confiscating restrictions

Last year’s upsetting choppiness suddenly looks like a thing of the past, as a stronger rupee has paved the way for high-street banks to have a greater play in the currency market.

Recently, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) told several large lenders that they are free to carry out foreign exchange proprietary trades in which bank treasuries bet on the dollar-rupee movement.

The move will intensify the currency market and offer finer foreign exchange rates to customers, particularly large corporates with regular exports, imports and dollar borrowings.

Gurgaon school staffer hangs himself, three booked

A supervisor at a private school here committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan, and three members of the management board have been booked for abetment to suicide, police said Monday.

Bhupender Singh, Pramod and Suresh Kumar, all senior members of Pine Crest school management here in Sushant Lok area, have been booked under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code.

A case was registered on the complaint of Ram Babu, the younger brother of Rajan alias Rajendra, 32, who committed suicide May 31.

15 killed in Karnataka van-bus collision

At least 15 people, including three children, were killed and a dozen injured when a van and a bus collided head-on and fell in a ditch in Karnataka, police said.

The accident took place in Aland, 40 km from here and 700 km from Bangalore.

The collision occurred around 5 a.m. on a highway when a pick-up van and a state-run route bus collided head-on at high speed and fell in a roadside ditch, Gulbarga superintendent of police Amit Singh told IANS.

Most of the victims were from the van, which was going to Gulbarga from Akkalgud in Sholapur district of Maharashtra across the border.

Mango import ban: EU to send high-powered delegation to India

Sensex up 130 points on firm Asian cues

The benchmark BSE Sensex surged by 130 points in morning trade on Monday on buying in capital goods, realty, refinery, banking and metal sector stocks, triggered by firm Asian cues amid fresh capital inflows from foreign funds.

Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 2,977.62 crore last Friday, as per provisional data from the stock exchanges.

The Sensex resumed higher at 24,368.96 and firmed up further to 24,388.15, before quoting at 24,347.82 at 1000 hrs, showing a gain of 130.48 points, or 0.54%, from its last weekend’s level.

Rupee rules steady against dollar at 59.11

The rupee recovered from initial losses against the American currency on fresh selling of dollars by banks and exporters and was trading at 59.11 per dollar in morning trade today.

The rupee resumed lower at 59.27 per dollar as against the last weekend’s level of 59.11 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) Market on initial dollar demand from some banks.

However, it recovered immediately to 59.11 at 1000 hrs on selling of dollars in view of firm equity market.

It hovered in a range of 59.11 and 59.28 per dollar during the morning trade.

A new study has revealed that one’s community plays a key role in determining how satisfied they are in their life.

Scientists said that their most interesting finding was that, in US counties where obesity is particularly prevalent, being obese has very little negative effect on one’s life satisfaction.

Study co-author Philip M. Pendergast, from University of Colorado-Boulder, said that being ‘normal weight’ has little benefit in counties where obesity is especially common, which shows the importance of looking like the people around you when it comes to satisfaction with life.

Maruti sales up 19% to 1,00,925 units in May

Country’s largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI) on Monday reported 19.2 per cent rise in total sales in May to 1,00,925 units as against 84,677 units in the same month last year.

The company said its domestic sales rose 16.4 per cent during the month to 90,560 units as against 77,821 units in May 2013.

Sales of mini segment cars, including M800, Alto, A-Star and WagonR, declined by 7.5 per cent to 29,068 units as compared to 31,427 units in the year-ago month, MSI said in a statement.PTI

Riley Mullins, 28, accused of stealing a woman’s purse was held after he befriended the woman on Facebook.

Shocked, the woman identified Mullins from a distinctive triangle tattoo on his arm and informed police.

According to the woman, Mullins must have found her name from an ID card in her purse, a report in Washington-based newspaper Kitsap Sun said.

Three foreign engineers killed in Afghanistan bombing

At least three foreign engineers were killed Monday in a suicide bomb attack in Afghanistan, official sources said.

The killing occurred around 7.15 a.m. in the Behsoud district of Nangarhar province, Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, provincial government spokesman, told Xinhua.

One foreign engineer was wounded in the attack.

Unofficial sources said the victims were Turkish and serving in a local construction firm.

An official said an investigation has been launched and more information will be released later on the day.
