A new update on Google Glass will now let users see notifications just by moving their eyes.

Normally, user has to nod or tap the touchpad to see the notification, but with the new update users can see the notification by merely moving their eyes in a direction.

Glass owners can activate the new feature by enabling the ‘Notification glance” card in the device’s settings, Mashable reported.

However, Google has cleared that the feature was an experiment, which may or may not make to the final product for the general public, which will reportedly be available this year.

Apple splits shares to make them ‘affordable’

Apple is reportedly splitting its shares which will reduce the share price from 647.50 dollars per share to 92.50 dollars per share.

Existing owners will be provided seven shares of Apple for each one they own, which means their investment or market value of share will remain as it is, CNN reported.

Companies with share value of more than 100 dollars often split their prices to attract more of individual investors, which might be the reason behind the split.

Now, the company has made its shares somewhat ‘ affordable’ but not ‘ cheap er’. (ANI)

Milk production in 2013-14 rises by 6 per cent to 140 million tonnes

Milk production is estimated to have increased by 6 per cent to about 140 million tonnes in 2013-14 fiscal helped by normal monsoon and increase in demand for dairy products.

Milk production in India, the world’s largest producer and consumer, stood at 132.4 million tonnes 2012-13, as per National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) data.

“Milk output during the year 2013-14 is estimated at 140 million tonnes,” an NDDB official said.

Akshay Kumar recently launched a martial arts school along with Aditya Thackeray to give self-defence training to women at an event in Mumbai.

NASA beams video from space via laser

US space agency NASA said Friday it has successfully beamed a high-definition video from the International Space Station to Earth using a new laser communications instrument, a technology demonstration that could help fundamentally change the way of communication in future deep space missions.

The transmission of the 175-megabit video entitled “Hello, World,” took only 3.5 seconds, which corresponds to a data transmission rate of 50 megabits per second and would have taken more than 10 minutes using traditional downlink methods, Xinhua quoted NASA as saying.

Human-like robot ‘Pepper’ can analyze gestures, expressions and voice tones

Japanese telecommunications and Internet Corporation, Softbank has unveiled a human-like robot called Pepper that can analyze gestures, expressions and voice tones.

The robot uses an ’emotional engine’ and a cloud-based artificial intelligence system and people can communicate with it just like they would with friends and family. Softbank says it plans to launch the robot commercially in Japan next year, The BBC reported.

The futuristic robot will be available for 1930 dollars.

Five die in Pakistan road accident

At least five people were killed and 30 injured Saturday in a road accident in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

According to sources, the speeding passenger bus fell into the ravine in Manshera district, Dawn online reported.

The bus was travelling from Rawalpindi to Skardu city, south of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Mob sets two trucks on fire in Uttarakhand

An angry mob set two trucks on fire late last night in Uttarakhand’s Bajpur after a motorcyclist was allegedly killed by a truck driver.

Two motorcycle riders were allegedly hit by a truck in Udhamsingh Nagar and while one died the other still remains in a serious condition.

Several policemen have been deployed at the site of the accident where the situation is still said to be tense. (ANI)

Monsoon to be critical factor for monetary policy: Barclays

The southwest monsoon, which hit the mainland a bit late on Friday is a “crucial variable” for monetary policy, British brokerage Barclays said on Friday and projected retail inflation would be below 8 percent if official rain forecasts come true.

Such an eventuality will help give the RBI, which is targeting to rein in retail inflation at 8 percent by January next, greater room for a “balanced monetary policy stance”, it said.

Coal Ministry mulls transfer petitions in mine deallocation cases

The Coal Ministry is working on a proposal that all cases filed against the government following the deallocation of mines be transfered to the Supreme Court which is already looking into the issue.

According to an official document, coal mine allocatees have filed 94 cases in different courts against the government orders for deallocation and Bank Guarantee deduction, and it has proposed transfer petitions (TPs) in all such cases so that they can be heard at one forum — the apex court.

India’s forex reserves fall $273.8 mn to $312 bn

India’s forex reserves fell by USD 273.8 million to USD 312.382 billion in the week to May 30, mainly on account of a drop in currency assets.

After weeks of gains, the reserves nosedived by a whopping USD 2.268 billion to USD 312.656 billion in the previous week.

Foreign currency assets (FCAs), a major constituent of the overall reserves, dipped by USD 269.3 million to USD 285.291 billion in the period under review, Reserve Bank said in a statement.

Maruti may save Rs 10,500 cr by not investing in Gujarat

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL), which agreed to let parent Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) own an upcoming plant in Gujarat, expects to save about Rs 10,500 crore in the first 15 years by not investing in the facility.

In a presentation filed to the BSE related to the contentious Gujarat plant, the company said it proposes to enter into a contract manufacturing agreement (CMA) with Suzuki Motor Gujarat (SMG), a fully owned subsidiary SMC.
