Saudi police clash with masked gunmen, one killed

Saudi police exchanged fire with “masked gunmen” during a protest in the oil-rich east, killing one of them, state news agency SPA reported early on Saturday, in the second such incident in 24 hours.

CIA gets hacked

Hacker group Anonymous Friday night took down the website of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), media reports said Saturday.

Citing online publication PC Magazine, RIA Novosti said the website was still offline.

“CIA TANGO DOWN: https://www.cia.gov/ #Anonymous,” the hacker group wrote on Twitter.

Anonymous did not make public any details about the hacking, but the group’s hackers normally use distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks to knock their targets offline.

FIFA vice-president has warned that Muslim women would be driven away from soccer fields if the football’s governing body decided to ban the wearing of hijab in playgrounds during its meeting next month.

“It is very important that everybody has the chance to play the sport that they love and obviously the laws of the games have to be amended to allow that,” Prince Ali Bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, a FIFA vice-president, told Reuters on Friday, February 10, in an interview in Singapore.

Saudi pvt sector employed 7m workers in 2011

The total number of workers in the Kingdom’s private sector reached 6,991,200 in the fiscal year 1431H-1432H (2010-2011), 10.37 percent of which were Saudis at 724,655, the Saudi Ministry of Labor’s statistics report said.

Non-Saudi workers reached 6,266,545, representing 89.63 percent of the total.

Riyadh region registered the highest number of workers at 2,396,632, of which 259,994 were Saudis at 10.85 percent. Second came Makkah Region with 1,516,284 workers, 11.33 percent of them were Saudis.

Falak case: Delhi Police arrest prime accused Rajkumar, 9 others

Greek cabinet approves bailout deal

The Greek cabinet approved on Friday a draft bill committing the country to reforms required by the European Union and the International Monetary Fund in return for a new €130-billion ($171-billion U.S.) bailout Athens needs to avoid a messy bankruptcy, government officials said.

“It was approved,” a minister who took part in the cabinet meeting said.

The bill is scheduled to be voted in parliament on Sunday, which would take Greece one step closer to getting the loan.

Three British Muslims jailed for anti-gay campaign

Three Muslim extremists who distributed leaflets calling for homosexuals to be hanged, stoned and burned to death were jailed by a British court Friday.

Class IX student stabs teacher to death in Chennai

Chennai, February 09: In a spine-chilling incident, a class nine student stabbed his teacher to death in a private school in Chennai on Thursday. The student stabbed the teacher while she was giving lessons. She died while being taken to the hospital, the police said.

Confirming the unfortunate incident, school management said that the 39-year old teacher was stabbed several times by the school boy at around 10.50 am.

Initial reports suggest that the teacher was trying to discipline him when the ill-fated incident took place.

Sohrabuddin fake encounter: Andhra top cop grilled

Deputy Inspector General of Andhra Pradesh police N Balasubramanyam was questioned by CBI on Wednesday in connection with the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

This marks the start of investigation into the Hyderabad module of the encounter case. Since 2005, this part of the conspiracy was not probed by either CID (Crime) or CBI.

Balasubramanyam was grilled on logistical support provided to the Gujarat cops who had abducted Sohrabuddin, his wife Kauserbi and Tulsiram Prajapati from Hyderabad right before staging the encounter in Ahmedabad.
