VH Says KVP Misled High Command On Fake YSR Diary

Senior Congress leader and Rajya Saba member V Hanumantha Rao on Tuesday alleged that his colleague K V P Ramachandar Rao was misguiding the party high command.

Speaking to the media here, Hanumantha Rao said that KVP hired other persons to write the so-called dairy of late chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and got it released by the party high command. Such tricks would benefit YSRCP president Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy only, he said, adding that KVP should introspect whether he was doing good or bad to the party by his questionable activities.

Minister Pats HMR For Completing 100 Pillars

On the occasion of the Metro Rail project crossing an important milestone of completing 100 pillars (piers), Hyderabad Metro Rail Managing Director N.V.S. Reddy apprised MA&UD Minister M. Maheedhar Reddy about the progress of the project today.

Reddy told the Minister that so far 103 pillars have been erected, 208 foundations laid, 344 viaduct segments cast and the project was progressing at a faster pace.

Appreciating the good work, Maheedhar Reddy congratulated N.V.S. Reddy, L&T Metro Rail MD V.B. Gadgil and their teams and advised them to stick to the project schedules. (NSS)

Mohd. Amanullah Khan, Convenor, Telangana Auto Drivers JAC today resigned from the committee and from general secretary post of Auto Driver Brothers Union following poor response to today’s one-day auto strike in the twin cities.

It may be mentioned here that the JAC gave one-day strike call demanding withdrawal of G.O. Ms. No. 90 granting 20,000 new auto permits, cancellation of police e-challan system, a permanent solution to the auto parking problem in the city and a total ban on the overloaded sharing autos plying illegally on city roads without operating the fare meters.

Naidu Talks To Seemandhra Partymen On Second Letter On T

TDP initiated consultations within the party on the issue of sending a second letter on Telangana issue to the Union Home Ministry.

TDP president interacted with party leaders from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema on the issue. Those who participated in today’s meeting were Payyavula Keshav (Anantapur), Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu (Chittoor), Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhary (East Godavari ), Pattipati Pulla Rao (Guntur) and so on.

Speaking to mediapersons later, Keshav said the party leaders conveyed their opinions to the party president on the issue and left the decision to him.

Centre Took Decision On ‘T’ Already, Says Palvai

Rajya Sabha member Palvai Goverdhan Reddy has said that a decision on separate Telangana State has already been taken by the Centre and a statement will be coming from the high command soon.

Speaking to the media at the CLP office here on Tuesday, Palvai said there was no need to hold deliberations again on the issue. He said that the TPJAC leaders have asked the Centre to make a statement on Telangana as early as possible by September 30.

Shankar wants Govt to conduct “T Liberation Day”

Former minister Dr P Shanker Rao has demanded that the State government conduct Telangana Liberation Day on September 17 officially as was being done in the neighboring Karnataka and Maharashtra States.

Speaking to the media at the CLP office here on Tuesday, Shanker Rao said the State government has scant respect for the sentiments of the people of the Telangana region and shut its eyes to the reality in all the 10 Telangana districts. US consulate set ablaze in Libya

Dozens of protesters rushed into the US consulate in Libya’s Benghazi city Tuesday night and set the building on fire, said witnesses.

The attack was reportedly a move against a movie which insulted Prophet Mohammed, Xinhua reported.

Earlier in the day, in a similar incident several thousands of Egyptians protested in front of the US embassy in Cairo to express their anger over the movie produced by some Coptic migrants in the US which insulted the Prophet.

Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Botcha Satyanarayana today said the government is consulting legal experts on conducting local body elections under the existing reservation system.

The Andhra Pradesh High Court earlier had directed the state government to fix only 50 per cent reservation for SC/ST/BCs in the local bodies.

Govt assures to up profit share for Singareni staff

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today assured to increase the profit share for the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) employees to 25 per cent from the existing 16 per cent after discussing with the SCCL management.

Rahul Gandhi has failed to make a mark, says BJP

Amid speculation of Rahul Gandhi assuming a larger role in the Congress, the BJP Tuesday said his performance over the years speaks for itself and the Congress general secretary had failed to leave his mark in assembly polls in several states.

Answering queries, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesman Ravi Shankar Prasad said the Congress gave credit to Gandhi but did not acknowledge his failures.

He said Gandhi’s performance as an MP speaks for itself.

Prasad said he was “really craving for an effective intervention (by Gandhi) in parliamentary debate”.

India has always considered the conflict in West Asia to be political and to be resolved peacefully while consistently supporting the Palestinian cause, President Pranab Mukherjee said Tuesday.

“India has always considered the conflict in West Asia to be political in nature and believes it cannot be resolved by force… India has been consistent and persevering in its commitment to the Palestinian cause,” Mukherjee said at a state banquet he hosted in honour of visiting the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, who is also chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organisation.

Two Maoists among seven held

Two Maoists among seven people were arrested here Moday for allegedly firing on a police official in Andhra Pradesh’s Khammam district, police said.

The Maoists are identified as M Chukka and Makkammudda, they said.

The duo was part of a 150-member Naxal group from Chhattisgarh which fired on a police official belonging to Mothugudem in May.

Power permit must for Ganesh pandals:CPDCL

The Central Distribution Company Limited (CPDCL) has asked organisers of Ganesh pandals to take temporary power supply connections (low tension) by paying the necessary charges.

According to a release issued here on Monday, the CPDCL authorities said that organisers have to pay Rs 500 for power load of 250 watt.

From 250 watt upto 500 watt, the amount would be Rs 1,000 for the10-day Ganesh festivities. For usage of above 500 watt, the charges would be Rs 1,500 and Rs 750 would be charged for every additional 500 watt of power usage.

APCC Chief Botcha Satyanarayana has said that separate Telangana State would have been carved out already had the Telugu Desam party gave a letter to the Centre in favor of Telangana State.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Tuesday, Botcha clarified as the Congress was the ruling party it cannot give any letter to that effect. Reiterating that the Congress would solve the problem if TDP sends a letter to the Centre, Botcha said the main Opposition party was contemplating to give such a letter to the Centre on for political gain.

Cambridge loses No.1 spot to MIT

Cambridge has slipped from the number one spot in the prestigious world ranking of universities after being overtaken by America’s Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

MIT is now ranked as the world’s best university, pushing Britain’s historic academic centre into second place. MIT was third on the list last year, the Daily Mail reported.

Oxford maintained its position at number five in the table compiled by QS World University Rankings.

Reduce cancer drug price, SC asks Novartis

Pharma major Novartis AG Tuesday said it was the author of beta crystalline, a form of a compound used in an anti-cancer drug, while the Supreme Court asked the company why it could not reduce its medicine’s price.

“Why don’t you reduce the price … that will be a better and stronger way of establishing your bonafides of helping the poor,” the court said, adding: “Rs.1.2 lakh per month is too high to afford a treatment.”

The company was asserting its claim for getting a patent for the compound form in India and its exclusive marketing rights.
