Kejriwal’s Bangalore road show draws curious crowds

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal began his road show here Saturday to campaign for his party’s candidates contesting the general elections April 17 across Karnataka.

“Kejriwal’s maiden road show in the city is drawing curious crowds and enthusiastic youth, including many who are volunteering to canvas for our candidates in the poll fray from the three Lok Sabha seats in the city,” AAP spokesman Rohit Ranjan told IANS here.

Unfazed Kejriwal fires yet another salvo at media

Unfazed by the criticism of his attack on media, Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal today fired yet another salvo, questioning whether the media had the courage to show the “true story” about Narendra Modi’s Gujarat.

Speaking to reporters before launching his roadshow in Bangalore, he accused the media of not bringing out the “truth” about the Gujarat Chief Minister before the people.

“Free tree shop” opened in Magnifique Public School campus

: Free Tree Shop, a unit of ‘One Tree by One Person’ was opened in Magnifique Public School campus, Kanakapura Main Road, here on March 5.

Free saplings were provided to people and also a database was created to keep information about the number of saplings that were distributed and planted through ‘One Tree by One Person’. The recipients of the saplings were not just requested to plant but were also encouraged to take care of them till adulthood.

C. Narayanaswamy wins Congress primary in Bangalore

Congress leader C. Narayanaswamy Thursday sealed his candidature for the Lok Sabha polls from the Bangalore North constituency by winning the party primary.

“Narayanaswamy secured 189 of the 371 votes polled in the primary held at a resort in the city. He will be our candidate for the Bangalore North parliamentary constituency,” party returning officer Nitin Kumbalkar told IANS.

Karnataka will go to the polls April 17.

Of the 478 registered voters, only 359 could vote, as the remaining were either late or did not turn up when the polling process began at 11 a.m.

KSRTC awareness drive against pilferage

he officers of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) conducted checks in its buses practicing in the State and neighbouring states, to keep checks on incidents of revenue pilferage.

The line checking team in its drive conducted in February checked as many as 46,899 buses detected 4,628 cases and booked 6,594 passengers.

The corporation collected Rs 7.12 lakh as penalty and detected revenue pilferage of Rs 86,564. Disciplinary action has been started against the delinquent staff as per a press release.

IT bellwether Wipro has entered into a strategic partnership with the US-based SGI to service its customers and partners in big data and computing, and expand its market presence in India.

“As exclusive authorised service provider for SGI, we will also provide new solutions, maintenance services and enhanced support to its customers and partners across the country,” Wipro vice-president Anuj Bhalla said in a statement here.

A two and half year-old raped

A two-and-a half-a-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a man near Begur Main Road under the Electronics City police limits on Monday night.

According to police, the suspect was arrested on Tuesday after an intense search. The accused, Rajendra Sahani, 25, a native of Bihar, had settled in the City around five years ago and was working as a construction labourer in Bommanahalli.

He used to visit the parents of the vicyim who worked at a building site belonging to Mookambika Builders on Begur Main Road. The girl and her parents are also said to be from Bihar.

From December 27, 2013, to January 15, 2014, Siddhanta, along with his mountaineering team, has climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe, becoming the first Indian team to do so.

Manipal institute offers MBA course in Dubai

The T.A. Pai Management Institute in Manipal will offer Master of Business Administration (MBA) course to Indian students in Dubai from this academic year.

“We have tied up with the University of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce to offer the 18-month course to Indian students residing in the Gulf region,” TAPMI Dean Chowdari Prasad said in a statement Tuesday from Manipal, about 400 km from Bangalore.

AAP fields ex-Infosys honcho in Bangalore

The AAP Monday announced that former Infosys director V. Balakrishnan will be its candidate in the Bangalore Central Lok Sabha constituency.

Balakrishnan joined the AAP Jan 1 after resigning from the IT bellwether Dec 31.

Balakrishnan is a founder-member and chairman of Exfinity, a venture capital fund for technology start-ups here.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Monday released its fourth list of 61 Lok Sabha candidates, fielding former Infosys CFO V Balakrishnan from Bangalore Central, journalist Ashish Khetan from the New Delhi constituency, and satirist Bhagwant Mann from Sangrur in Punjab.

Protest against frequent attacks on Muslim youths by KKSV

Karnataka Komu Souharda Vedike (KKSV), Udupi district unit, held a protest demanding action against persons who are assaulted Muslim youths in the region repeatedly, here in front of the Clock Tower on March 5.

President of district unit of KKSV, G Rajashekhar, during the protest, allegedly said that Haneef and his wife were attacked at Trasi on February 23 and in another incident, Humair was assaulted at Nidamballi on February 24.

He said that in both the cases, activists belonging to right-wing organisations were involved in and the police allegedly supported them.
