Rajnath speaks to Siddaramaiah over Bengaluru blast

Home Minister Rajnath Singh Sunday spoke to Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and assured him of all central assistance after a low-intensity blast in Bengaluru injured two people.

A home ministry official said the chief minister apprised Rajnath Singh of the situation.

“The home minister extended all central assistance to Siddaramaiah regarding the blast in Bengaluru,” the official said.

Two people, including a woman, were injured in the blast near a food outlet late Sunday.

No impact of missing flight on India operations: AirAsia

The disappearance of Malaysian budget carrier AirAsia’s flight from Indonesia’s Surabaya to Singapore early Sunday has not affected its Indian operations, an airline spokesperson said.

“Our operations are normal. No impact of the missing aircraft on our flights in India and we don’t have cancellations,” AirAsia India spokesperson told IANS here.

As a joint venture with Tata Sons and Telstra Tradeplace, AirAsia began its low-cost operations in India from here June 12 with a maiden flight to Panjim.

Kazakhstan and India can do business with expanding China: Envoy

Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to India, Bulat Sarsenbayev, believes that neither his country nor India should be overly concerned about the expansionist designs of China, but rather both should seek to maximize bilateral and economic contact with Beijing for the overall benefit of the peoples of the three nations.

In an interview given to ANI, Ambassador Sarsenbayev did not agree with the view that Astana and New Delhi are very concerned about growth and expansion of China economically and strategically.

Woman hangs herself, upset with two of her neighbours

The victim was identified the name Devi, 23-year-old homemaker allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her home Chandra Layout police limits on Thursday

She held two of her neighbours responsible for her death and she wrote in the note “I am taking the extreme step as two of my neighbours abused and assaulted me.”

Added the police,She went inside and hanged herself. The incident came to light after a relative visited the house.The police have taken three women into custody for questioning.

“Social media presence is a great tool to connect with hundreds of people and it will go a long way in sharing information about rescheduling of trains, running of special trains as well as important events,” Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Anil Kumar Agarwal said that.

Two Die in Car-Bus Collision in Mangaluru

Two people died and three others were injured when a car in which they were travelling collided with a KSRTC bus at Dharmasthala near Mangaluru today, police said.

The deceased were from Bengaluru.

The accident took place when the KSRTC bus rammed into the car which was moving from Bengaluru to Dharmasthala. The bus was plying from Dharmasthala to Mysuru, they said.

The injured, including a two-year-old child, have been hospitalised.

VHP plans ‘Ghar Vapsi’ in Karnataka

Even as “Ghar vapsi” (home coming) programme is snowballing into a controversy across the country, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is planning to hold such an event in Karnataka.

Top VHP leaders from Karnataka, however, did not reveal the dates for going ahead with “ghar vapsi”, but maintained it was an ongoing programme which started more than three decades ago.

VHP’s Udupi Unit Chief Suprasada Shetty told PTI that they were thinking about reconverting some Christian families in Udupi District.

Karnataka to develop infrastructure to boost tourism

The Karnataka government is setting up a special purpose vehicle (SPV) to develop infrastructure at tourist destinations across the state under the public-private partnership (PPP), a senior official said Wednesday.

“The state cabinet Tuesday approved the proposal of the tourism department to set up the SPV for tourism infrastructure development at an estimated cost of Rs.14,737 crore. We have identified 1,468 acres of land at tourist spots across the state for the projects under PPP,” the official told IANS here.

4 killed, 2 injured in multiple collision

Four persons were killed and two others injured in a multiple collision after a city bus went out of control and dashed against a goods auto on a flyover here tonight, police said.

As the driver lost control, the bus hit the median and collided head-on with the auto, setting off a chain of accidents as 3-4 two-wheelers rammed into the rear side of the goods vehicle on the Lingarajpuram flyover.

Karnataka govt to withdraw bill on mutts

Facing resistance from Hindu seers and reservations within cabinet, Congress government in Karnataka Wednesday said it would withdraw a bill which religious mutts fear is an attempt to take over their institutions.

Developing cold feet as the bill raised a storm of controversy, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told reporters here “Now we are planning not to pursue with bill. We will take it back.”

Kids with Cancer kept waiting for CM for two hours

Patil- panel wants ‘change’ in BBMP affairs

The BS Patil-led expert committee on Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) reshuffling on Tuesday gave an interim report to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah favouring a “change” in the way Bengaluru’s civic affairs are managed, but said it would require another six months to submit its final report.

The term of the present BBMP council ends in April 2015. Spread across more than 800 sq km, Bengaluru has around 10.1 million populations, according to the 2011 census. The Palike has 198 wards and the BBMP council has 270 members, including corporators, MLAs, MPs, MLCs and nominated members.

A Bangalore girl rescued from kidnappers

A 3 year old seriya from Bangalore was kidnapped 8 days ago, was recovered at Rajahmundry today.

According to police the accused is identified as grandfather of seriya, the accused was having a dispute over property with his son.

He planned of kidnapping his granddaughter and escaped to Rajahmundry, based on photage, police recovered the child.

5k cases booked against auto-drivers

Total of 5,172 cases were booked against drivers and 934 autos were seized. In view of complaints by passengers of drivers refusing to ply or demanding excess fare, the city traffic police carried out an inspection on Monday between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Additional Commissioner of police B Dayananda told, “The police received a large number of complaints about autorickshaw drivers through social media. Most of them related to demanding excess fare and refusing to go on hire to the destinations of passengers’ choice. Hence, the police conducted a special drive and booked the violators.”

Karnataka unit of Aam Admi Party on Saturday announced the launch of a new fund raising campaign called “Selfie with Mufflerman” to collect donations for the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections.

Bengaluru: Youth Congress protests over religious conversions

The Youth Congress staged a protest over the religious conversion row in Bangalore on Monday.

Earlier today, opposition parties, including the Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party and the Rashtriya Janata Dal had staged a protest against the government in Parliament over black money and religious conversions.

According to reports, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Saturday converted about 200 tribal Christians to Hinduism at Aranai village in Gujarat’s Valsad district.

Jilted lover hangs self in an empty shed

A 28-year-old jilted man, who had tried to kill his colleague, was found hanging in an empty shed of an under-construction building in Hulimavu on Sunday.

He was a garment factory employee and had fallen in love with his co-worker Puja, also from Madhya Pradesh. Puja had turned down his proposal, according to the police.

On Saturday, he went to the paying guest where she was residing and again asked her to marry him.

Karnataka: Girl gangraped by minor boys

A 7-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped by four minor boys at Chidi Tanda here, police said.

All the boys were arrested.

The incident took place on December 19. The boys, three of them studying in 6th standard and another in 8th standard, are relatives of the victim, police said.

The girl was residing with her grandmother while her parents stay in Mumbai.

Police said a complaint was registered and the boys were arrested under Protection of Children against Sexual Offences Act.

More than 10,000 people participated in a midnight marathon, presently in its eighth edition, in Bengaluru on Saturday night.

The marathon saw runners of all age groups, professional athletes and enthusiastic runners, taking part in full enthusiasm.

The event which is organised around a different theme every year has ‘Run for Bengaluru’ as this year’s theme.

The Karnataka Assembly was today adjourned twice after Speaker Kagodu Thimappa rejected BJP’s demand for discussing alleged corruption cases involving “tainted” ministers through an adjournment motion, saying the matter was in courts.

Police as of now had not come across any follower of Mehdi’s Twitter handle @shamiwitness in Bengaluru.
