Hyderabad, December 02: Andhra Pradesh Government today held talks with TRS President K Chandrasekhar Rao for ending his fast-unto-death, demanding a separate Telangana state.
Labour Minister R Venkata Reddy, who was sent as an emissary of the government, met Rao at the government hospital at Khammam tonight and appealed him to end his fast.
Hyderabad, December 02: In a minor administrative reshuffle, Andhra Pradesh government today transferred three IPS officers.
Kothakota Srinivasa Reddy, a 1994-batch officer, has been posted as DIG (Warangal Range) succeeding Lakshmana Mohan who has retired, a press release said here.
This is the third posting for Reddy in six months.
Sanjay Kumar Jain of the 1997 batch, on repatriation to the state from CBI, has been posted as Srikakulam SP in place of M Naganna who has been appointed Commandant of City Armed Reserve in Hyderabad, the release said.

Khammam, December 02: Less than 12 hours after TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao ‘‘broke’’ his fast, party leaders saw a ‘‘conspiracy’’ and asserted that the separatist leader’s indefinite hunger strike was on. That set the tone for the proceedings on Tuesday. The confusion, for a time compounded by rumours, on Rao’s U-turn was replaced by tension and high drama as police and TRS leaders slugged it out at the Government Area Hospital here.
Guntur, December 02: With the Government reducing the quota of essential commodities in the district, the people who are dependent on PDS are facing difficulties.
Rice, sugar, red gram and wheat are being sold through PDS. Of late, with the prices of red gram and sugar shooting up in the open market, these commodities are not being distributed through PDS on time.
Ration card-holders are trying in vain to buy essentials at fair prices shops for the last two months. Usually, 548 matric tonnes red gram and 750 matric tonnes sugar are distributed through fair price shops in the district.
Kadapa, December 02: The late chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s son and Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy has once again made his intentions crystal clear. ‘‘I will play a bigger role in State politics. My uncles will take care of our constituency (Pulivendula),’’ Jagan said, addressing a meeting organised in connection with the filing of nomination by his mother, Vijayalakshmi, for the Pulivendula bypoll.
Kadapa, December 02: As many as 24 Ministers and more than 60 Congress legislators were present in Pulivendula on Tuesday when Y.S. Vijayalakshmi, widow of former Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, filed her nomination as the party candidate for the ensuing by-election.
In what is seen as a show of strength by YSR’s loyalists, a large number of Ministers and legislators, besides district level leaders from various regions turned up at Pulivendula.
Nizamabad, December 02: A police constable committed suicide here by shooting himself with his service revolver atop a cell phone tower here in the wee hours of today in support of separate Telangana, police said P Kistaiah (37), associated with the Machareddy police station, climbed a mobile phone tower in Kamareddy and raised slogans in support of Telangana Policemen and civilians who gathered there tried to placate him to come down but he shot himself with his service revolver, Kamareddy police sub-inspector B Shankar said.
Hyderabad, December 01: Tension prevailed in Andhra Pradesh’s Khammam town Tuesday as key Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders were arrested when they tried to meet party chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao, who is on a ‘fast unto death’ in a hospital to press for a separate state of Telangana.
Police arrested TRS chief’s son K. Tarakarama Rao and nephew Harish Rao, both legislators, and other TRS leaders as they tried to meet him at a government-run hospital in Khammam.
Hyderabad, November 30: Normal life was thrown out of gear at several places across Andhra Pradesh today due to the shutdown called by Telangana Rashtra Samithi to protest the arrest of their leader K Chandrasekhar Rao, who continued his fast in prison.
Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport cancelled its bus services in Hyderabad and other Telangana districts like Medak, Karimnagar, Nizamabad and Warangal, leaving many commuters stranded.
Many educational institutions and business establishments remained closed in the city due to the bandh.
Hyderabad, November 30: Normal life was paralysed at several places across Andhra Pradesh today as the TRS shutdown to protest the arrest of its leader K Chandrasekhar Rao turned violent with bandh supporters going on the rampage, attacking petrol pumps, shops and state-run buses.
The agitators attacked petrol pumps, shops and a retail store at Tarnaka in Hyderabad and also state-run buses at several places in Telangana districts of Medak, Nizamabad, Karimnagar and Warangal.
Medak, November 29: To protest against the arrest of TRS President K Chandrasekhara Rao, a large number of Telangana Rastra Samithi (TRS) leaders and workers staged a dharna on the Medak-Siddipet road disrupting the vehicular traffic, here today.
The TRS activists damaged the Andhra Pradesh Road Transport Corporation buses in the town and also set on fire Chinna Koduru Mandal Revenue Office.

Khammam, November 29: Tension prevailed near the Khammam Sub Jail while the Police moving Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao to the jail after the magistrate remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.
Earier, police booked cases against Rao under sections 147, 114, 117, 120b IPC in the Two Town Police Station and produced before the Khammam Magistrate who remanded him to 14 days judicial custody.
The judge rejected the plea of Rao for providing medical treatment, bail and also the reason for his arrest.
Karimnagar, November 29: Former chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, by a quirk of fate, had to lose his life in the Nallamala forest as he was responsible for the killing of several Maoist leaders and cadre in the same area after inviting them to talks, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president K Chandrasekhar Rao has said.
And, he has atributed the huge loss of life and property in Kurnool, Vijayawada and Guntur in the unprecedented floods to the injustice being done in sharing the Krishna waters.
Rao made these shocking observations at a media conference here Saturday.
Hyderabad, November 29: To clear extra rush of passengers, the South Central Railway will run special trains between Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam, Secunderabad-Kakinada, Kacheguda- Bangalore and Nanded-Dadar.
Train No.0748 Hyderabad-Visakhapatnam special train will depart from Hyderabad at 1930 hrs on December 5 and 12 and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 0830 hrs the next day.
In the return direction, Train No. 0747 Visakhapatnam-Hyderabad special train will depart from Visakhapatnam at 1910 hrs on December 6 and 13 and arrive in Hyderabad at 0850 hrs the next day.

Karimnagar, November 29: TRS president K Chandrashekar Rao Saturday demanded the immediate withdrawal of police forces and release of all the arrested TRS leaders and activists in Telangana districts.
Speaking to mediapersons at North Telangana Bhavan in Karimnagar, Rao warned Chief Minister K Rosaiah that his government would be held responsible for any consequences that may arise out of attempts being made to thwart his fast.
Jeddah, November 26: Flooding killed at least 48 people in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday after a heavy downpour, while 900 people were saved, official reports said on Thursday.
Civil defense authorities said 44 people died in the city of Jeddah and four in Mecca. Some were drowned or were killed by collapsing bridges and in car crashes, while the rescue services spokesman said another 900 people had to be rescued after being stranded by the floodwaters caused by rainfall .
Visakhapatnam, November 26: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah said recession had not hit the software business units in the state which registered a phenomenal growth of more than 50 per cent last year in Information Technology Industry.
He said this after inaugurating the Symbiosys Technologies in the Off Shore Development Centre at Rushikonda in the city here yesterday.
The Andhra Pradesh Software Exports stood in the fourth place in the country, Mr Rosaiah added.

On Saturday, CBI sleuths arrested VS Prabhakar Gupta, head of internal audit of the company, since renamed Mahindra Satyam. The CBI charge against Gupta was that he was a part of the conspiracy planned and executed by Ramalinga Raju relating to cooking the firm’s books and suppressing accounts for several years.
Hyderabad, November 22: The scathing report presented by the Supreme Court appointed Empowered Committee (CEC) on illegal mining in Anantapur district has added more pressure on the State Government with Opposition as well as ruling party leaders demanding immediate action.
The panel called for immediate suspension of mining activity by the Obulapuram Mining Company (OMC) owned by Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and was also critical of the State Government for not being impartial.

Hyderabad, November 22: The Eluru Range DIG Mahesh Bhagwat today said a special team will be constituted to deal with the menace of women trafficking from here to red light areas in different parts of the country.
Bhagawat told reporters after taking charge of Eluru Range that women trafficking is reported from both East and West Godavari district since a long time and several steps have been taken to control this menace.
The police will now set up a special team to deal with the situation more effectively.
